War Remains: Dan Carlin Presents an Immersive Memory

War Remains: Dan Carlin Presents an Immersive Memory

There’s a serious lack of this kind of experiences on VR. One of the advantages of VR over regular games is that by putting you in the game/experience, you are not simply watching something, you are part of it and it triggers an emotional response you couldn’t have otherwise. I loved the idea of experiencing a WW1 documentary on VR, and I think it works very well… except for one thing:

Dan Carlin was NOT a good choice to narrate this. it’s like he’s trying to sound cool to a bunch of kids. Some of the things he says are just unappropriate. Talking about the dirty environment where battles took place, he says that to the soldiers, it was a strange landscape that looked “like the moon… but weirder”. Seriously? He doesn’t sound like he should narrate historical stuff, he sounds like he should narrate a WWE fight. Personally, his narration is to this documentary what pineapple is to pizza. Everything else works well, it’s a shame.

If you like Hardcore History, this is an amazing telling. Dan Carlin has an incredible voice and way of wording that makes narration thought provoking, imaginative, and informative. Many narrators tell stories at you, where Dan immerses you. The telling, the quotes, and now the images together are likely the closest you’ll get to that sought after: ‘Is this what I would be thinking, or feeling, if I were there right now?’. Certainly so within the confines of your home.

This takes us one step closer to the ‘being there’, or downloading a memory and reliving someone else’s experience.

This game is pretty bad.

The controls are very wonky and difficult. The cursor just doesn’t move right, the click detection fields are not where they should be based on the pointer of the cursor, and just generally controlling Tiana and figuring out what to do next is frustrating. The minigames are terrible and unclear, and they seem to just play themselves. Overall, only the music, art and voice acting are good, but the gameplay is ROUGH. My daughter couldn’t really enjoy this one, the controls just don’t work well and there’s too much reading required for such simple gameplay.

Normally I would even play more before reviewing, but this isn’t even playable due to the many bugs. I ran into invisible walls, immortal monsters, bodies going through the floor, sound disappears on the loading screen, crashes on launch,.. but the graphics do seem beautiful! But then Game Guru provides good assets.

Imagine a default demo map included with the GameGuru engine used, but plagued with invisible walls and a handful of terrible looking creature assets. The creatures die and then pop back up with infinite health.

As bad as GameGuru games are, this has to be one of the absolute worst GameGuru games ever exported.

The price of $24.99 USD is absolute insanity, but this trash wasn’t uploaded onto Steam to sell copies here, it most definitely was uploaded just to sell keys on key selling websites to make a quick and easy profit.

I love how this game is so easy to pick up.

Unlike squad, hell let loose and similar war games; in this one you are usually put very close to the action.

Fast game, somewhat buggy though to be expected of an early access title, but all in all quite enjoyable.

game was great on launch but now i cant play for more than 30 mins without being kicked from lobby, every new update introduced more glitches and instability. such as with the current patch where if you put on your gas mask it entirely muffles your sound even after you remove it. dont get me wrong love the game and wish it would do well but every step forward they take 3 steps back

Tactics of World War I

Tactics of World War I

Tactics of World War I puts you in the role of a military leader on the Western Front. Lead your men through some of the fiercest battles in history. But only if you plan your attacks thoroughly, and react smartly and quickly to your enemies actions you will succeed.

Two Single-Player Campaigns

The game features two single-player campaigns set on the Western Front. A German campaign about the invention of the famous “Sturmtruppen”, an elite infantry unit founded to overcome the stalemate of trench warfare. And a British campaign dealing with the deployment of the very first tanks to the battlefield.

The campaigns extent over the entire conflict from 1914 to 1918, including decisive battles such as the Battle of Flirey or the Battle of Passchendaele.

Realistic Small Unit Tactics

Tactics of World War I focuses on the tactical aspects of the battle like cover, suppressive fire, and flanking maneuvers. Resulting in a fast-paced gameplay loop accompanied by truly innovative, streamlined controls.

With more than half a dozen individual units per faction, from light infantry to heavy weapons, such as mortars or tanks, Tactics of World War One provides you with a variety of tactics.

Best battlefield game up to date. Immersion is top of the roof with some decent campaigns.

If you want to play multiplayer, make sure you dont use “quick match” and try server browser instead. In there, don’t use official DICE servers as they’re often filled with hackers. Try out community servers where admins are active and players are good and u get close, fun games.

Trench Run

Trench Run

Trench Run is a 2D multiplayer shooter that is exclusively about shooting people, blowing them up, and having fun in the process

The gameplay is very simple: you control your characters using only only 2 buttons and direction keys (you could play with a NES controller), the maps are small, there’s no story, no base-building, no leveling system… You can immediately buy the game, join a server and blow stuff up. The game is very fast paced, with explosions all over the place, corpses flying across the map, buildings getting blown up, it’s very hectic and hilarious to see.

I got a pre order key of this game and have been hyped all the way. And lets just say it met my expectations.

It is a fun and a very fast paced game. Every round can last a minute, and some of mine have lasted a just two seconds. The unpredicatable mechanics turn every sniper shot into a cross map scenic flight, grenades into trick shotting basketballs and rockets into ridable objects of mass destruction.

Some people may be put off by the ‘aim with wsad or arrow keys’ for sniper shots, rockets, grenades, basketballs and flashbangs. It takes a while to get used to it, but once learnt makes the games so much more enjoyable. Heated battles are ensured when a commando is running up behind you, and your sniper aim is pointing the other way. Who will win?

This is more of a game of skill and a computer game in one. I have never played anything like this before. This game is addictive once you get into it and spend the first two hours actually reading the intructions and doing the training. The colors are very bright and this title is best played in the dark with the sound turned up. When you play this game it grows on you and you want more and more because what starts out as so simple in theory is very very hard in reality. This is like climbing a tree in hell that has been oiled with the souls of a weaker player. This game needs a leaderboard so players can talk smack to each other on how far they can make it. I say to give it a try and see if you manage to break something around the house after falling down and down and down again. The price point makes this game very affordable and I think we can all agree that we have spent way more on less fun and challenging titles……….give the little guys a chance.

I give this game a mixed review cause Steam doesn’t bother to add an Mixed option when reviewing a game.

Anyway, this game is not bad but not good either, just some types of minigames that you can find on browser games.

Yeah,I think that this game should had been a browser game.

I only recommend to play this if you are bored of the other games from your library.

Words cannot describe how much I love this game. It hits all the notes I expected: A good environment that is challenging, but not frustrating, amazing attention to detail, and absolutely terrifying monsters. I recently played Amnesia: rebirth, and was personally very disappointed with it’s atmosphere, and storytelling. This game absolutely blew it out of the water, and the fact that it was an indie title that lasted 2-3 hours astounds me. These people deserve any support and praise they can get.

I was lucky enough to partake in the final testing of the game, and as such I’d like to thank the developers for providing me a copy. I’d also like to thank them for providing a second copy and sponsoring a giveaway on my YouTube channel (Cardsharp Gaming).

Initially, my thoughts about the first 45 minutes of the game were not great. It was paced quite slow and didn’t have enough encounters with the entity. Then, I realized that the buildup was created in a such a way as to introduce the player to the threats they’d be experiencing. As you progress, you’ll notice that you’re being given parts of the context of the story as well as the dangers or threats of the game bit by bit. In between, the game creates a sense of uneasiness and tension from fear of the unknown through great use of lighting and environment (dimly lit rooms, extremely narrow hallways, lots and lots of hallways, flooding decks, seemingly ending amounts of doors, properly-timed sound risers and impacts, limited number and use of your matches, etc.) Often time you’ll get hit with a surprise encounter with flooding and the entity, but overall it’s either an encounter with one or the other. The latter part of the game is really intense, and what I would consider the most exciting part of the game. Others have expressed disappointment in the ending, and I can understand that; the ending should’ve been more clear, more elaborated so as to not be confusing. However, despite this, I found the ending to be real clever. If you follow the narratives and messages throughout the game, the ending will be more clear than if you didn’t.
