Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition
I hadn’t played this game since the 1st edition that came out in the 80s. Back then three Hunters chased a nearly-impotent Dracula around the map, eventually slaying him. Nearly every time, anyway. Dracula had hidden movement behind a screen, and left some rumors in his wake, but the damnable hunter cards would give him away at horrible times, and if you encountered him he would get caught during the day more than half the time (you rolled a die, but the hunters had more cards) - a vampire during the day is as feeble in combat as you would think. We called it “The Frustration of Dracula.” He was fun to play, but it was very difficult to win with him. Still, I have fond memories.

While no game is ever going to translate perfectly from the board to digital I have to tip my hat to Nomad games for taking on Fury of Dracula, not just for doing it, but doing a very capable job.
*When you read negative reviews about the lack of 1 vs 4 during initial roll out of the game, I have to point out that this was clearly posted on the store page well in advance and in the discussions. It shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone and it’s a poor excuse to give a thumbs down. It was perfectly clear and the developers have repeatedly stated why they released it as 1 vs 1 and 1 vs AI initially, along with their plans to work on and release 1 vs 4. Understandably, the developers want to get it right, so we just need to be patient. Their professionalism and consistent feedback to our inquiries leads me to believe they will get it done.

The Good

Lots of character combination and class types – the caster, rogue, or hearty tank.

Excellent art work and atmosphere – although I like to think of VFO as ‘discounted dark fantasy’ it still has some nice moments.

Can confirm from trailer there definitely feels like there’s 100+ hours of gameplay, or at least two characters to test different combinations.

Random encounters means you could end up fighting a rat or some creature living under a tree that eats rats and who might one shot you if you’re not careful.

Overview
Vampire’s Fall: Origins (VFO) is an Indie turn-based isometric RPG set in a medieval fantasy world, populated with sparse human settlements and covered in large part by wilderness. Players will impersonate an inhabitant of a small village, and start their career as members of the city guard. Soon, events take a dark turn and the main character is transformed into a vampire against its own will, afterwards sets on a quest to exact revenge against those responsible.

Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi
Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi is the sort of game that feels like it’s flying apart as you play. It’s an authentically janky experience, filled with rough visuals, rough AI, and rough edges of all sorts… but a surprisingly playable, unique, charming, and fun “janky experience.”
At heart it’s actually a fairly simple FPS–traditional, even, with its backtracking and weapon inventory and twitchy gunplay. You’re tasked with exploring a pseudo-random castle to rescue various family members and deal with the local vampire population. “Deal with” in this case meaning “slaughter.”

In the endless search for quality in the bargain bin of the Steam catalog, there lies a special category for games that many have purchased on a whim, but never played. These tend to be older games, created under time crunches or by small studios. They became either punching bags for being mediocre crap, or things that are actually worth talking about, but fly under the radar because everyone’s backlogs are constantly filled with superior products purchased on sale. It’s a shame, as Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi is an interesting experience that provides quite a bit of bang for the buck (or 3, if you’re not getting it on sale.)

Vampires Dawn 3 - The Crimson Realm
Vampires Dawn 3 is a more than worthy successor to the previous games of the series.
The story and characters are great, and some twists are simply spectacular. I enjoyed a lot the magic system with runes that can be combined to unlock different spells and to explore combat tacticts. The game world is believable and although there are many funny moments, too, the dark setting is one of a kind and the plot got me hooked from the first moment till the end. Especially the quite long prologue is simply phantastic.

Eternal Evil Prologue
Eternal Evil Prologue is a demo for an unreleased/may never be released FPS adventure/zombie game that seems to have been slapped together by flipping a template from the venerable Unreal Engine.
While this is free, it’s not a game, it’s a demo, that was misleadingly published on Steam without being flagged as a demo. This is a common mistake.
As far as demos go, it shows promise as it’s copied from a reasonably good template set for Unreal. However, it’s buggy and largely unplayable despite the nice framework and art that copying assets from the Unreal store provides.

The game is GREAT but assuming you have a good machine to run it.
Played on my old PC and it was terrible, very long loading times, 10-15mins, and there are loading screens between different maps. Add to this very low fps, super laggy on medium settings and it becomes basically unplayable,
But I really wanted to play it after watching one walkthrough, the youtuber had a lot of fun and he didn’t have these issues.
So I tried Eternal Evil on a more powerful machine and it was a completely different story!

Heroes of Yore
Looking for a casual way to prove dominance amongst fabled legends? I was. Ever want to make a team of mythical villains destroy the prudish icons of old? I did. Have you ever wanted Paul Bunyan to feed Grendel flapjacks?… well, me either on this one, but it is as awesome as it sounds. This game was just what I wanted! It is a casual, easy to learn, but challenging to master. I have not fully beat this game yet, but am working on it! I will slay them all!
Since this is Early Access, I am really excited to see what (or who) else the developers come up with!

Heroes of Yore is a turn-based strategy/RPG in which you put together a squad of public domain characters and fight to win in single or multiplayer mode.
The basics are straightforward, and it’s evident that the game aims to be user-friendly. You simply select four heroes from an ever-growing pool and engage in combat. On the left, your party, and on the right, the opponent. The battles are turn-based, which means that each side performs actions for all four heroes. Attacking is simple, just select the attack and choose a target. Because each hero only gets to perform one action, the order doesn’t matter. So far, everything appears to be easy.

Vlad Voievod Dracula. Episode 1 Manhunt
The events take place during the first ascension to the throne of Vlad III Tepes, the historical Dracula. He claims his throne from the hands of Basarab, who murdered his father, tortured and killed his brother. In front of Dracula’s army, Basarab abandons his throne and flees to Transylvania to save his life, but Dracula takes his best warriors to hunt him down personally.
The game is a slow-paced tactical action-puzzle platformer, where you need to discover and correctly execute the most efficient or interesting strategy. You won’t overcome the obstacles too easily if you don’t give it some thought first. Your main sword attack is not very powerful, and you can’t take on all your enemies head-on. Some are faster than you, and more powerful, so you need to learn their timing, their patterns and movements and strategise your actions accordingly. You’ll need to wisely use the few sub-weapons at your disposal, and sometimes engage in duels. Learn to back down when needed, and strike merciless when the opportunity arrives.
So buckle up and take control of one of the coolest villains in history in his manhunt for judgement and revenge. Use skill and cold-blooded planning to crush the enemies beneath your feet just to raise them back up in pales. Pick up the sword, and let the manhunt begin!
Trick & Treat Remake
I really like the overworked sweet-spooky style. I hope there will be more Games with those characters in the future.

I played the original game in 2019, and got really excited for the remake. The art and locations have been updated, and the game looks more polished now. Needless to say, the story doesn’t change very much, apart from the bonus objectives. I bought the full bundle and had a look through the artbook, which contains a few annotations and fan art. It also comes with a bonus comic about our truly heroic main character. If you want to get into the spooky mood, this game is certainly a good choice. It’s cute and quirky and doesn’t feel frustrating (which some of these RPG Maker do). Some of the achievements seem to be quite tough to get, though. So, if you’re expecting an easy achievement hunt, I’d probably get the free version.
