Limouzik
I’ve been wanting to learn about chords for a long time. This program is very simple, and I certainly wouldn’t use it for music production, but it seems like a great education tool.

Midinous
I found the Midinous grid paradigm to be an inspiring way to place note events within a period of time. Unlike most sequencers which slice a cycle into a number of steps, the Midinous grid allows one to drag events to change the time relationships as well as the overall length of a sequence. The ability to run multiple sequences on different channels on the grid makes creating polyrhythms with different sounds is a gas, baby.

Midinous is one of those really special MIDI sequencers that comes along every once in a while that completely rewrites how I approach making music. Through the semi-modular grid and it’s built in functionality, Midinous allows you to construct MIDI sequences that I could have never accomplished, or would be extremely difficult to create using traditional sequencing tools. I’m overwhelmed with the possibilities and I cannot wait to see where the developer takes Midinous in the future. Highly recommended if you make any kind of music with MIDI whatsoever!

Virtual Home Theater Video Player
I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet. As you see from my over 300 hours of usage that I use this exclusively. I purchased this when it was more expensive and never regretted it. I never got it for the audio aspect although it is impressive. I got it for the 3D movie playback. The MAIN thing that drove my interest is that I did not have to use my controllers at all. I could do everything I wanted with the mouse. Trust me this is way more relaxing. I have had many many email conversations with Aurel the developer about features and getting help. I don’t think it is possible to get someone nicer and more hard working. I have had a number of suggestions that without hesitation were implemented in updates. I know there are more things to come as well so if you are on the fence, get this and you won’t be sorry

The only app that can play non head locked surround sound video with hardware decoded video, i tested it against all other players (deovr, whirligig, big screen etc), only virtual desktop come close (with it’s virtual sound drivers enabled), but still not as good, lots of parameters in VHT that you can adjust to your own like.
Of course the complicated and let’s be honest, rather ugly, GUI is the draw back. I would love the 3D model cinema enviroment (best ones are those in virtual desktop workshop),

Zoom Player 13 : Steam Edition
Zoom Player is a lazy geek’s dreampipe media player that grabs the best worlds from popular media players like Kodi, MPC-HC, Tablet media apps like MC Player Pro, VLC and Winamp into one handy app that happly does everything you need to do regardless if you’re on Windows desktop, or Win-HTPC or Win-Tablet. There no need to download multiple apps & codecs from various of websites when Zoom Player downloads all its components with a click of mouse inside the app.
Pros
- Ability to sort out the episode/playlist correctly when watching a TV series from a Blu-Ray disk - Which alot of media players can’t do but Zoom Player has that feature ;)

Used the Freeware version of this program for just about as long as it was first available. I’ve tried every major freeware video player on the market, all of which are useable, none of which are as customizable or feature rich as Zoom Player. I have a lot of old and new video I play using this program, so I have a lot of hours on record on Steam but probably 10x the amount of hours on the freeware, so I figured it was about time I help support the developers and buy the full version here on steam.

VR Pianist
‘Music, reality, sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference’ (D12 - When the music stops)
Playing the piano in virtual reality was new to me and surprisingly fun!
Can I now apply this to a real piano? Yes, but it won’t really allow me to play a completely complicated song.
VR Pianist is a rhythmic VR game, you choose the song you want to do and the difficulty. (easy, normal, hard)
based on the difficulty level you will have to press more or less keys to get a final score.
Here you can see an example of ‘Beethoven - Für Elise’ on hard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P975DqLlPg

Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/9fegwqllD4g
In case you can’t tell from the store page video, you’re playing finger piano in VR. It’s similar to guitar hero, except you are playing real notes on a virtual piano. The game has several songs from contemporary, classical, and thematic piano music. It has easy, normal, and hard difficulties. Several songs are unlocked until you do good enough to unlock the rest.

Paradiddle
This is what other VR drumming apps should have been. I’ve tried a bunch of them and they all left me craving for a better option. This might me the one for me!
It is fully customizable:
- You can add the drums you want in the virtual space, resize them how you want and place them where you want! If you’re an experienced drummer you can recreate your own kit accurately, and if you’re a beginner and don’t know where to start you can use one of the presets or recreate very quickly your favourite drummer’s kit.

I just picked this up a couple days ago. Put in 3.4 hours so far and loving it. I’m a complete novice and while the game does not contain a tutorial itself it is still an amazing learning tool.
I used OVR Drop to bring in a youtube window to a show a beginner drum turorial to play along with - this works great! In a short amount of time I was able to learn a straight rock beat with high-hat, snare and base drum. It felt awesome.
Even though you don’t get the feedback of hitting a real surface, it still feels like you are playing the drums and certainly the timing and spacial aspects would transfer to real life. I’m looking forward to learning more and getting better.

TribeXR DJ School
This is not how I envisaged my mid life crisis starting (more on that later), but here we are after 15 hours of VR CDDJ’ing with TribeXR.
This title is everything that I’d hope for VR DJing as a returning in mid-life crisis, Ibiza flight booking, Vive user… It has all the gadgets that I never had back when I was a lad: BPM counter; key analysis; beat grid; waveform; EQ; loop; sync; beat fx; colour FX; and more. It works with MP3! I don’t even have to carry back breaking equipment across fields and on to stages. It’s right there in my room whenever I want.

I started on a pair of sounlabs DLP-1’s (Old school) when i was just boy I soon moved on to a pair of 1210’s as most of us did in them days and I still have them to this day but I have not got round to building my summer house so i can have them set up!!
I started doing some Pirate Radio stations back in the day Flex / Rampage just to name a few, then moved on to a few small club’s at this point this is when I had my 3’rd kid and was burnt out so stopped all radio and clubs and started doing Disco’s and was getting paid but I could not get my practice sessions as 1210 where locked up and i was just to lazy. got my self some CDJ to do my practice sessions on and all that happened was they replaced my 1210’s as they was easier to move about so was locked up too!!

Puppet Play 🎬
You have the idea, we have everything else!
Puppet Play aims to make animating as easy as possible by utilizing the possibilities of VR headsets. In traditional animation tools, animating is done by manipulating gizmos on a 2D screen. In Puppet Play everything is animated by recording your movement in real-time. This not only makes animating easy but also super fast. No matter the prior experience, if you have a cool idea for a movie you can turn it into reality in a few minutes (depending on your idea it might take a bit longer)!
Grab an object → press record → move it around & repeat!
Additional tools like motion capture, remote control & auto walk support the process. Use your headset to record live audio and once everything is complete, export and share your creation in a standard video format (mp4).
A huge collection of different characters (not only puppets), props and environments are ready for you to use! All things animatable are separated into 3 categories:
Puppets: Characters with Full-Body-Inverse-Kinematic rigs for fast animations
Props: Large objects to build & decorate your set with.
Items: Small objects that can also be attached to the puppets, like weapon, hair & hats.
You are in your own movie studio with many different sets that can be further customized with props. They range from traditional puppet theatres to fully-fledged 3D scenes for your next epic cinematic trailer!
A puppet on a stick or a full 3D character with individually animatable limbs: Choose what fits your vision & time scope. Short on time but still want to tell a story? Choose puppets on a stick! Got a bit more time on your hand and want to go into detail? Then choose a fully animatable humanoid character!
It’s designed for VR, there is no place for 2D UIs! All interactions are physical and integrated into the movie/puppet studio world. Or to say it in cool UX design terms: It’s a fully diegetic UI!
Once your animation is complete, you can export and share it as a standard video file (mp4). You have all rights to upload and monetize anything you make with our tool!
Puppet Play is being developed by a team of freshly graduated students from Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Puppet Play started as a semester project in the study “Animation and Game” at the campus.
