To start, I’ll answer the question I don’t see many reviews covering: Yes, this game can help you improve your typing, assuming you know your fundamentals (homerow concept, finger placement, etc.). I don’t see it going over very well if you don’t know the basics, but if you do it can be a pretty effective tool, even if it wasn’t exactly designed for this purpose.

I wasn’t a very good typist when I started. I tested myself online after my first game session and was around 18 wpm with frequent glances at the keyboard. I’ve treated playing the game like lessons, set periods on a schedule. I usually play 3 chapters a weeknight, which equals about an hour to an hour and a half long sessions. I started on the lowest difficulty and worked my way up. As I said, this game isn’t exactly designed as a teaching tool. If you suck at typing, you die a lot. I was dying as much as a dozen times a stage early on. You’ll pretty much have to ignore scoring at this point and just focus on progressing.

“WHAT THE FUNK” had to start the review with that phrase from the game it just sum’s it all up really.

OMG I really cant explain in word’s just how funny this game actually is and all the grind house reference’s are easy to see from the grainy camera and bad voice acting to the terrible script its all part of what make’s this game what it is and that put simply in one word is……….AWESOME!!

The absolute worst game I have ever played. Complete horse sh*t.

I grew up on text based games so real excited about this but wouldn’t recommend to my enemies.

For $3 I’ll keep just in case it is ever actually playable.

Not just a text adventure. There’s art, sound and also has an advanced parser as you can see from the trailer. The puzzles are fun and challenging. Plus, as a bonus, you also get Zenobi Software’s Stranded 1 along with it (playable in the accompanied Spectrum emulator).

I do recommend reading the manual, even if you have played many text adventures before this one. It has tips and new features which you really don’t want to miss out on.

While Cook, Serve, Delicious! was already one of my favourite games, small things about it left me wanting more. The food options were very limited, there was little variation between days, and progression boiled down to how many days you completed rather than your skill. Despite that, CSD! is so unique that it’s hard to find other games like it.

I was incredibly hyped for Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! prior to release, but was put off by the changes to the formula. Recipes couldn’t be carried out rapid-fire if you remembered the keys, you had to press a key to go to the next page of steps. The menus and level select were obtuse to the point where I had to click blindly to navigate. The preset menus of the restaurants were brilliant as scripted level sequences, but made it difficult to justify working in my own restaurant when that contract work felt like the ‘real game’. Unlocking new foods felt incredibly slow. Serving more customers faster than ever was problematised by the need to still hit specific keys to start and serve orders, and that speed made slip ups way more common. The continuation of chores didn’t mesh with the new rapidity. Customising the restaurant was cool but I was also inundated with cosmetic unlocks I didn’t feel like using because, again, I didn’t feel compelled to work in my own restaurant. I return to CSD frequently, but CSD2 felt like experiencing Icarus flying too close to the sun.

I’ve played the first two CSD games and I love the first one. The second was okay, but lacking in terms of charm and progression. This game, however, blows both of them away, and it’s still in Early Access!

CSD 3 manages to keep the strengths of the first two games while avoiding their weaknesses. The first game was great because you were always working to become a top restaurant. Although you no longer have one in CSD3, your new goal is to travel through all the territories to Nashville and also upgrade your food truck to the ultimate cooking machine. Eventually there will be options to customize your truck but these are not in the game yet.

Very short and not much adventure or RPG-elements, game takes place in a small town without much locations to explore and without character progression.

Art-style is cute and there are silly elements in the story, but it is over before it really begins.

If you get this in a sale then it can be worth it.

Remember to patch.

Good sexual content doesnt justify a lousy game, but a lot of DLSite devs think thats the case.

Really weak and short sadly, I did like the fighting system and the art, but I wish they would have expanded more on that and also made it more difficult later on tho, it was piss easy.

The game tells you that you shouldnt do anything lewd to get the happy ending, but it literally doesnt matter, in the last fight you can choose the ending you want, whether MC got defiled or not.

Some parts of the game arent translated, its a nice touch imo, but feels a little half-assed.

If you have synesthesia, get some sunglasses before you play this game, and play it with care. It’s been about two hours since I stopped playing it and I still feel dizzy, disoriented, and nauseous.

I really like this game, but the colors, the lighting, the bloom, the motion blur– all these things put together make me feel as though I’ve been playing the game while sitting inside of a spinning dryer.

EDIT: Just completed it on Girlfriend mode.

Where to start. The Internet really wants you to make things seem worse than they are, but I refuse. Revolution 60 is a game where all the pieces are in place (nearly): there’s music, sound effects, graphics (though the anatomy, esp. the characters' heads, prevents anyone from really taking the drama seriously), and a control scheme, a movement scheme, a battle system, but all the parts are so disparate that they do not work well at all together.

This game is a port of the original IOS release, and, generally-speaking, an improvement over the original game. The controls are more responsive and the framerate is extremely stable. Though the game has issues with certain GPUs according to some users, it is generally more functional and more competent than the original game, with a clear attempt made at addressing the laundry-list of technical problems the original game had. The framerate is fixed, the audio mixing woes are fixed, the synchronization errors are fixed, the model tearing is gone. The game looks smoother and moves better than ever before, and I’ll give Giant Spacekat Studio its props for getting this much done. New content was added, including new responses for Holiday, new animations, and new skins for all the characters. By all accounts, this is an outstanding achievement on Giant Spacekat’s part at fixing the game’s various outstanding issues, and it deserves respect for doing so.

I think this idea has a lot of potential, it’s a very fresh take on this genre of games but i really think the execution needs to be ironed out. I’m recommending this because i really do think this is such a great idea, but for example: the switching out of verbs imo really ruins it at some parts because sentences end up making 0 sense. It would a lot funnier if this game was more about improv writing exercises and then reading those out with your friends. Personally i would scrap the verb swapping entirely but i also wouldn’t mind if it was done less and the word changes had context behind them so it wouldn’t ruin every sentence.

I didn’t expect much from a text game, but to my surprise, it’s one of the most enjoyable narrative games that I played in months - I would even suggest using headphones because the sound design is just so good. The trailer does not give the game justice, I think it’s very atmospheric and even haunting to some extent, it just has that foreboding feel when you play it. It only has about 40 minutes of content for one playthrough, not counting multiple endings, so it’s closer to 2 hours for completion. The way the game tells a story is very creative as you have to help people by conveying their thoughts into letters. The characters will present you with multiple words, and you have to type the most appropriate one within the context. If you want, you can screw up on purpose and get some funny responses, which may result in a different ending. In a way, the game kind of checks your vocabulary, it starts easy, but some of the characters will talk in poems and metaphors – I didn’t get it on a first try.I am not an authority on writing, English is not even my first language, but I thought the narrative was exceptionally good, and it kept me engaged the whole way.

Tldr;

I really had a lot of fun while playing Inkslinger. You don’t often see a game which not only has an interesting story, but also a great graphical style and unique gameplay. It is really a hidden diamond amongst indie games. Though I’m fully aware that this game will not be a good fit for the average gamer, if you don’t mind a slower paced story-driven game, definitely give it a try.

The only downside of the game is that it’s very short. For my first playthrough it took me only about 50 minutes to complete the entire game, and that was with carefully reading everything and trying out different options as answers. The game does encourage you to play through it multiple times, but it would have been nice to see the story being altered a bit depending on the choices the player makes.

CSD2 is enjoyable as a fast-paced cooking sim game, but it lacks the focus, charm and elegance of the original.

I’m left with the impression that too much focus was put into the restaurant customization and the breadth of food options available, at the expense of honing the experience and flow of the game.

The Good:

The gameplay core of fast-tapping gameplay is altered a bit with a new page system for ingredient management, and somewhat more emphasis on putting things together in stages. It also adds Holding Stations, a new element of play which has become a core focus of the sequel and offers a new dimension of time management which is mandatory for some foods, optional for others, and unavailable for the rest. Drinks become maintenance chores rather than serving orders, and drink+side+perfect gets you a bonus.

I was a huge fan of the original CSD game and I’m disappointed to say the second one just doesn’t live up to the first despite some good new features.

The Good:

  • The game still fundamentally plays to the system of “everything’s chaotically messy and you’re trying to solve orders as fast as you can”, which is a fun game mechanic even if it can be stressful. Unfortunately a bit part of the “run your own restaurant simulator” is the progression, which isn’t great and I’ll be coming to later.
