So, i played Red Solstice before and i tried this one not specially hyped about the change in gameplay, but i was happily surprised by this game

The game is overall good for me, good graphics, fluid gameplay, the first missions of story mode used as a tutorial in disguise but still with enough difficulties to be called missions. made it run on high definition without fps drop or graphic anomaly

We have 4 classes, each with it’s own mecanics : Assault (good melee and shooter), Demolition (heavy use of skills), Hellfire (Tank and crowd control), and Terminator (Powerful but decrease suit integrity with each used skills)

Starship Saboteur Prototype

Starship Saboteur Prototype

Nice prototype… worth playing. Some things I would change, tho:

1 - The models keep squirming after you killed them, even after you try to hide them inside a box

2 - I would make the pistol sound also noticeable to those who are close

Overall, there’s a lot of potential ;), imho

Brilliant wee game!

The progression is done really well. New enemies and abilities are dealt to you at a nice pace and the ways to counter them are intuitive. The game brings in new situations and changes dynamics with each new chapter, which keeps it fresh and builds upon your existing knowledge. It has a really unique concept I haven’t seen in any game before with the Kaleidoscope but still has a really retro feel. Like arcade games of old!

Plus the soundtrack is amazing, not distracting but really sets the mood and keeps you in the zone!

Embers of Mirrim

Embers of Mirrim

This is, hands down, the most fun I’ve ever had playing a platformer. The controls are crisp, the mechanics are unique and well thought-out, it’s visually attractive, and the music is great. The single biggest complaint I have about this game is that it’s too short. I finished it in about 5 hours. I would love to have seen the kinds of puzzles they could have put in a longer game.

The difficulty curve isn’t bad. It’s hard enough to be satisfying, but doesn’t get hard so fast that it’s frustrating. There is one puzzle that uses a mechanic that isn’t used anywhere else in the game, and it can be difficult to figure out what the game wants you to do, but other than that, the mechanics have good clarity and the puzzles are fairly intuitive.

I’ve been craving a linear platformer and this really scratched the itch. While I enjoy metroidvanias, I feel like I ’ve been inundated with them of late and I wanted something a little simpler and straightforward, like the NES platformers of yesteryear.

Embers of Mirrim is a very polished puzzle platformer with heavy emphasis on platforming and navigating between sections and light emphasis on puzzle elements. The splitting mechanic adds variety, and the game continues to introduce other small elements to keep the game fresh throughout.

Quest of Souls

Quest of Souls

Quest of Souls is a fantasy, twin-stick, shoot ‘em up, RPG adventure with skill upgrade customization, multiple endings, pixel graphics, a story-rich experience, and a dragonslaying corgi!

Quest of Souls is inspired by nostalgic 90’s SNES games like Pocky & Rocky, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Super Smash TV, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, FF3, Gauntlet, and the Legend of Zelda series. If you like those games, we are making Quest of Souls for you!

We are planning for three player co-op, three levels of difficulty (Casual, Normal, and Insano), 7 full levels in game, and secret unlockable story twists and characters!

The core of combat is an action packed twin-stick shooter. You dodge enemy projectiles while using each of the character’s four abilities to get to the end of the level. As the game progresses you make decisions in the story that lead you down different paths. Each of those paths have their own encounters, enemies, and unlockable skill upgrade books used to enhance and customize each character’s abilities.

The storyline revolves around three main characters: Brunhilde the Good Lich, Toki the Dragonslayer, and Yoshimbo the Sworn Protector, and their quest to track down a powerful magical artifact of great value that was stolen by a mysterious dark sorcerer.

Their trek takes them across a wondrous fantasy landscape boasting vastly different environments to explore and decisions that change not just the story, but the actual levels themselves!

Wait, you said a lich, a dragonslayer, and a Yoshimbo?!

Yep. So, Brunhilde is a lich who uses her powers for good, Toki was once a noble fairy dragoon’s battle mount, and Yoshimbo is a ronin on a personal redemption quest wandering the countryside. Here they are!

King Crow Studios is part of a video game incubator at the Louisiana Technology Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In collaboration with other video game companies like Pixel Dash Studios, BitFinity Games, Starblade Games, and Jetstreame Games, we hope to work with the community to make games that we all can enjoy and provide entry-level experience for local game developers.

The talent that goes into this game comes from all across Louisiana. We hope to show off how vibrant the gaming community is here by having almost every other existing indie company contribute in some way to the game. Shakedown: Hawaii

Shakedown: Hawaii

Shakedown: Hawaii is the follow-up to Retro City Rampage.

Retro City Rampage (aka RCR) in my mind, was a sleeper hit of an indie. So how did VBlank manage to follow it up?

The gameplay in Shakedown: Hawaii is nearly identical to that of RCR, and so nearly instantly I felt quite comfortable with the controls. Mechanically the game seems rock-solid, which isn’t always something games of this nature get right, so it’s worthy of praise.

Shakedown: Hawaii sort of tones down the parodic elements that Retro City Rampage was known for by a lot, and while that might sound like a good thing since a common critique of RCR was how it was far too “in-your-face” about parodying pop culture of the 80s and 90s, I’m not so sure the comedy Shakedown: Hawaii goes for really “hits” all that often. Most of the jokes seem to elicit rolling eyes, rather than laughs.

A kiddie version of GTA2 with some business management.

Nice, easy, colorfull, pleasantly funny, sympathic.

Probably its very easy to identify with the maincharacter since he still lives in the 90s and is confronted with the modern business life. So its a great game for guys who played GTA 1 or 2 when it came out.

Further its not that hard like GTA was. You can’t die, you can restart every mission, you can get health on every corner, cops are kinda brainless, no long searching for special cars to sell, no blood (I am missing that!)… so Millenials will also have their fun from a different view without any big skills, effort or heart attacks.
