Peblito: Rock and Roll

Peblito: Rock and Roll

PSA: The control scheme is wrong. Tutorial and menu wil bothl tell you that it’s left click to dash, but it’s actually right. Q and E, meanwhile, are correctly mapped, but only seem to work while in the air - which the game apparently thinks too minor a detail to bother mentioning. It took me a good five or ten minutes of aimless wandering to figure this out, so spare yourself my fate and keep it in mind.

Alright, on to the actual review.

Peblito takes me back to a time when game design was not a science, or even an art, but a quick bodge on the back of a beermat. Like the great platformers of yore (and unlike the pale imitations of today), this game is willing to let you sit around and discern the way forward on your own. I didn’t know how much I had been missing the sense of ‘being stuck’, until I got to feel it again.

This was a genuinely fun game. The game mechanics are relatively simple but they come together to make it a good experience.

The worldbuilding is insane and at times very self aware. There are a bunch of awesome touches that really show that the development team was passionate about this project

Also in the credits you can see a list of the production studio’s pets which include Harambe, Simba and Toob.

The Falconeer

The Falconeer

Alright, here’s the dealio, I saw this game before it was released and was instantly enamored by open world flying and dog fighting mechanics (something I’ve dabbled in before and liked). I followed it very closely until it released and bought it almost immediately when it was available. At first I used a controller to play the game, unsure if keyboard and mouse worked (my preferred method), it was a bit wonky and the controls took some time to get used to. While the game says its not keyboard and mouse supported I play it keyboard and mouse anyway, my fingers are not suited for basic controller controls so when it can be keyboard and mouse that is my go to any and every time regardless if its made for it or not. Using my preferred control system does increase my enjoy-ability to play the game (because duh I can actually PLAY the game this way).

Review by Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam.

Above the clouds, freedom must be boundless… or not, as The Falconeer shows us. Our falcon makes it only just above the clouds. Most of the time we fly either very close to the ground or at cloud height, but not much higher. That makes sense, because it’s damn cold up there and the oxygen is a bit scarce.

Why Chicken? Why?

Why Chicken? Why?

(bata tester) Dope game! The frogs try and screw with the chicken… must be jealous they can’t be the protagonist of this game. still have to beat the game on steam and without cheating. I have only successfully saved the baby chick and it wasn’t on steam so I need to focus and save that sucker so I can get the “Family” Achievement. Almost there I’ve got 10 of 16 Achievements.

Last Light

Last Light

I was first attracted to Last Light for its art style, which is absolutely beautifull. For somebody who does not like horror type of games this one really made want to unlock all the achievement (still one to go). So without spoiling anything this is my short review score:

Art: 10/10

Story: 9/10

Difficulty: 7/10

Scare factor: 9/10

It took me 3 hours to go through the first playthrough (took so long because I was scared). To unlock all other achievement, except for one (where are you third floor director!!!) it took me another 10 hours as I did not use any playthrough or guides.

I really enjoyed this game! Only played through it once so far but going to go through it again and try to 100% it next time. My biggest criticism is that the keyboard controls are very frustrating when you’re trying to run away from enemies. I haven’t tried with a controller yet, hopefully it’s easier with that.

Something to NOTE! This game has the following elements that might be an issue for some when playing: occult themes, lots of blood, body horror, bullying/harassment, medical equipment, dead bodies, multiple text descriptions of violence, and two text descriptions of animal abuse. Much “lighter” than most horror games, but please take it into consideration before playing.

This game is highly recommended. I thought it was no difficulty, but I died countless times and suffered a lot. In short, this game verygood has passed the customs in two hours. Now it is playing hard core difficulty. We must buy it to play.
