Edifice of Fiends

Edifice of Fiends

Nice tiny tutorial how to do your fights & skills

Saving your progress is possible but at a certain cost :P

Each floor you progress through gives u shops & items to buy and improve your character

Interface kept simple but goes fast even playing with the keyboard

Gives you the possibility to change the keybindings

Game also is getting regular updates at the moment of writing

Some minor points:

First floors not have much of a scenery/setup change, took some floors to see a small chance, could use for sure some variations

I saw this on sale for 80% off ($1) and decided to pick it up.

Can’t recommend it. This is a poor RPG maker game and there are better ones out there.

Let’s take a look at the listings on the store and go one-by-one, shall we?

“Every choice matters as you try to fight your way to the top of the Edifice of Fiends”

Your choices are… what do I buy, and what skills/attributes do I spec into. There are not any other meaningful choices (well, I guess you could waste your time picking up a pickaxe/felling axe so that you can possibly make gear that is basically as good as what you can buy in the store)

Dungeons of Voidria

Dungeons of Voidria

Dream Quest, Desktop Dungeons, Slay the Spire - if you like those you’ll probably enjoy this game! I’m loving it so far.

As of this review there’s plenty of bugs but nothing that ruined the game. If that bothers you perhaps wait a bit.

Even in EA, it’s already fun. The mechanics of the skills and spells are an interesting mashup. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this game goes and am happy to support now.

The Hand of Merlin

The Hand of Merlin

Very good game, I would describe it as a fusion of game play elements from darkest dungeon with slay the spire, with some extra rpg elements added in. The artistic style is very unique and charming and so is the setting.

That’s my overall assessment of the game. I will go into more detail about areas I feel the game could be improved in the spoiler below.

! The enemy variety is pretty good, the best thing about it is that there is an enemy that can counter almost any character build forcing you to diversify your characters. The only game-breaking ability combo that I am aware of currently is rallying bash + dire haste + Watchful parry, which allows you to parry every turn with a warrior and be permanently immune to damage. However, because the abilities you get are randomized, this combination cannot be taken reliably every run.

Review by Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam.

|

The saga of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table exists in countless variations. Camelot, the Holy Grail, Excalibur, or the forbidden love for Guinevere are mostly fixed starters in the tale. A cosmic horror from another dimension that wants to devour the whole world with hideous creatures that could have originated in the twisted convolutions of H.P. Lovecraft’s brain, however, rather not. But that’s exactly what this is about. A roguelike with tactical, turn-based combat at its core, and a story that’s a mix of King Arthur and sci-fi horror. If you want a more classic story, look at Neocore’s King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, a quite good but still rather unfinished reinterpretation of the Legend of Arthur.

World of MiniMonsters

World of MiniMonsters

WORLD OF MINIMONSTER is a game of creature collection. You must beat 20 levels to reach the boss in the final showdown. (This can change each game).

To be able to beat the final boss, you should level up your MiniMonsters. What better way to do it than with potions?

POTIONS - Buy potions to make your MiniMonsters stronger or change its stats. But you will need gold to buy them, then…

LET’S GO ON ADVENTURES! - Each level has 3 different adventures, 2 easy and 1 not so easy. While you are overcoming adventures, you will get gold and new potions for your MiniMonsters. You will need to have specific MiniMonsters to reach the victory. So, you should manage your group of MiniMonsters as better you can.

Are you ready to FIGHT? - Beat 3 different MiniMonsters in each land to reach the next level, but be careful! Maybe the last one is a Gold Star Minimonster (like a little boss with a special skill).

How to FIGHT? - It’s very important to know that each type of MiniMonster has different strengths and weaknesses. Light gets a bonus when fighting against Nature. Nature gets a bonus when fighting Mechs. Mech get bonuses when fighting against Dark, and Dark get bonuses when fighting against Light. You will also be interested to know that each MiniMonster is linked to an element. So Water gets bonuses against Fire, Fire against Earth, Earth against Air, and Air against Water. These elemental blasts are very powerful but will consume energy.

BATTLEGROUND - Select your battleground to get more bonuses for your MiniMonster. Each battleground will help one type of MiniMonster. Thus, it is essential choose your battleground well.

GAMES’S FEATURES:

  • 68 MiniMonsters (64 playable)

  • 13 Different potions

  • 35 Adventures

  • 16 Battlegrounds

  • 9 different skills that change the fate of the battle

Curious Expedition

Curious Expedition

The Curious Expedition is yet another Kickstarter-spawned entry into the ever-growing field of Rogue-Likes, but with a refreshing new twist. This time around, the player takes on the role of a small party of 19th-Century explorers engaged in a gentleman’s wager - to travel the world on six concurrent expeditions, competing to see who can gain the most fame. It’s a fairly quick and lethal game, but that’s exactly what it’s meant to be - a good way to kill a few hours at a time, running expedition after expedition off to their doom.

The Short Pitch

TCE is one of the best games in its class, a Roguelike-inspired strategy/adventure game that will leave you wanting more. Easy enough to beat several times in one day if you’re dedicated, yet hard enough to make every victory feel like you clawed your way to it from the depths of hades.

If you’re looking at this game and you’re even half sure you want it, get it. If looking at it fills with you a warm and gooey sense of longing for the hours spent huddled around CRT monitors taking turns playing The Oregon Trail, buy it. Even if you’re a more modern gamer, but you’re a fan of FTL, Caves of Qud, the Binding of Isaac, or similar, buy it.

BASIC ROGUE

BASIC ROGUE

I’m in a Discord call with two buddies sharing strats and trying to figure out how to get further. Got my money’s worth in 15 minutes.

Edit after 5 hours:

Game remains incredibly fun, there are definitely some aspects that could use polish but the developer has been very open to feedback and is doing a nice job of updating the game with new features. 10/10 would recommend.

This game is shockingly fun. Of course, I raised Constitution as much as possible to get my armour to 100%, and I got my fighting up to legendary+3, so I didn’t have anything to worry about except for finding those leylines.

All in all: Well worth the $3 and the 10MB.

Also: You can pick up doors and put them back down! You can basically make a base if you wanna!
