Cute game but overpriced. Not much content that I can tell.

Thermonuclear

Thermonuclear

  • The gameplay is fun and somewhat deep. Each enemy is unique and requires specific tactics to beat. You also need to keep in mind your surroundings, enemy status, and choose your equipment and consumables for each mission.

  • The graphics look decent during battles. It reminds me of Into The Breach units-as-icons visual style. Characters during dialogues require some polish, though the story here is non-important; the game fills more like chess - it doesn’t really need a deep and meaningful story arc, to begin with, if the gameplay is fun. Maybe something more will come up later (storywise), but I haven’t seen a lot of meaningful dialogues or character development during my first several hours of the game.

A fun little game. A bit clunky UI, so you need to spend some time to learn it.

Sometimes game give you hard challenges and you will not be able to finish some missions from a first try.

I love this game so much!! 8,7/10

This game is a underrated masterpiece which more people need to try out and support!!

Let me go though the pro’s and con’s:

PRO’s

-Amazing Art style that kinda reminds me of Age of Empire’s when it first came out (1999)

-It’s a traditional Tower Defence type game

-The game mechanics are really smooth and easy if you can adapt to it..(more on that later) which prefer of the game, that the game will let you learn on your own

-No in game purchases

-Super Fun and rewarding, you feel real progress when you succeed in a level

Works in Proton.

This is actually pretty fun - I’m sad this was never fully completed/left prototyping.

There’s a lot not explained: Towers that are level 2 and higher have abilities you can cast for AP.

Catapults have to be rotated (Also, their graphic made me think they were just some rocks on the ground)

But even so, I’m really enjoying this little game. I’ve never seen a turn based tower defense, and while it certainly has a few bugs (Occasionally a unit will get stuck in an invulnerable, untargettable, non-moving state causing you to restart the game.) I still think it’s worth giving a try.

Dungeon Crusher Kiritan

Dungeon Crusher Kiritan

Cute little puzzle game with unique presentation.

Combat/movement is not exactly turn-based and more like tile-based - you move at the same time as your enemy 1 tile at a time and have to figure out when you will be in advantage to strike first.

Levels are handcrafted and not procedurally generated which is a big plus in my opinion.

There is also a level builder so looking forward to cool community-made maps.

Can recommend, especially with the launch discount.

Tohoku Kiritan is a VOICEROID character popular in Japan. VOICEROID is a type of text to speech software widely used in the Japanese Let’s Play scene. The Japanese way of doing things dictates that if you can substitute something with a cute anime girl you definitely should and it makes anything automatically better. Instead of using a webcam to record their faces most Japanese let’s players prefer to use anime characters as avatars and if they don’t possess cute girl voices, then the VOICEROID package provides an easy solution for both needs. The characters can serve as narrators or commentators to the provided gameplay thus putting more focus on the let’s player’s script writing ability rather than personal charisma, while also boosting creativity and providing greater freedom. As an added bonus most VOICEROID characters double as singing software on the VOCALOID or UTAU platform and therefore come with an already established fan base in the music scene. Of course this approach to let’s plays and streaming is largely unknown outside of Japan because of the language barrier. It’s also the reason why you may have stumbled on this game’s page without knowing what it’s about.

Into the Breach

Into the Breach

Anyone who says this game isn’t fun hasn’t played it long enough or has played it too long. Only just beginning to beat it on hard difficulty. Patience, a good set of headphones, and a willingness to let NPCs die will take you far. Great game.

I’ve enjoyed tactical RPGs ever since I discovered Final Fantasy Tactics Advance when I was younger. So I was naturally intrigued by Into The Breach. Now it might not be an RPG, but it’s definitely tactical and it will scratch that itch if that’s what you’re looking for.

First of all, the game runs on a very simple computer and that alone sold the game for me. The design is also unique, interesting and fits well into the universe the game is set in, without ever hinting to the game-design troubles the developers struggled with.

Curious Expedition

Curious Expedition

The Curious Expedition is yet another Kickstarter-spawned entry into the ever-growing field of Rogue-Likes, but with a refreshing new twist. This time around, the player takes on the role of a small party of 19th-Century explorers engaged in a gentleman’s wager - to travel the world on six concurrent expeditions, competing to see who can gain the most fame. It’s a fairly quick and lethal game, but that’s exactly what it’s meant to be - a good way to kill a few hours at a time, running expedition after expedition off to their doom.

The Short Pitch

TCE is one of the best games in its class, a Roguelike-inspired strategy/adventure game that will leave you wanting more. Easy enough to beat several times in one day if you’re dedicated, yet hard enough to make every victory feel like you clawed your way to it from the depths of hades.

If you’re looking at this game and you’re even half sure you want it, get it. If looking at it fills with you a warm and gooey sense of longing for the hours spent huddled around CRT monitors taking turns playing The Oregon Trail, buy it. Even if you’re a more modern gamer, but you’re a fan of FTL, Caves of Qud, the Binding of Isaac, or similar, buy it.

Story

During the intro, your heroes, Halea and Gwennel, have received a cryptic letter. They meet in the middle of a forest and sling questions and confused statements at each other. Halea appears to be a knight or a warrior of some sort, with axe and shield. Gwennel is most certainly an Elven ranger, clad in green and bow-decked (like being bedecked but with bow in hand). While our heroes are chatting, Goblin 37 approaches, stating that he also received a letter. Traditionally, Goblins are enemies in this world, and the characters are understandably confused. Things don’t exactly get clearer when a wizard named Elmar appears. He insists, quite enthusiastically, that the group kills the Goblin, and the tutorial begins.

Wow this is a great fun fantasy strategy game with a distinct, quirky, and super entertaining sense of humor. I’m a newbie to strategy games like this so I played on easy mode (there are three available difficulty settings which adjust enemy hit points) but I just beat the game and had fun from start to finish, and only wiped a few times. The strategy is interesting and fun to play and if it had been strictly a strategy game it would still be great but the developer hired a brilliant youtube comedian to write the dialogue and that humor shines bright and makes every intermission between levels a pleasure. The party progression is cool being based on a few statistics and the equipping of gear in your party and one of the coolest quality of life features is the awesome ‘auto-equip’ function which completely smooths over the process of inventory management while still allowing for customization and allows the main focus to remain on the combat and the entertaining dialogue. The quirky and hilarious dialogue is primarily presented in the form of conversations between the guildmaster and their guild between quests. After every quest you will see that some of your guild members have something to say and when you talk to them about the previous mission they have a hilarious conversation of some sort every time. The creativity of the humor and story doesn’t wane as the game progresses the dialogue maintains solid high quality entertainment all the way through (even through the ending). I love how as I progress the guild is starting to fill out with people. I love seeing more and more people in my home base and it reminds me of the game Suikoden which I loved. The developer is a cool and approachable person and he is active on twitch (where he streams twice a week), youtube (where he has been making videos for about 10yrs), and twitter as @jimplaysgames and on his own website at jimmakesgames.com.

I loved the visuals, for a puzzle game, there sure was a lot! (over 30 levels!)

I’m not proud to say that I was stuck in the flower one, though. That one was pretty difficult to understand.

Wargroove

Wargroove

To be completely forward and honest, I may be biased because I was a beta tester for Wargroove and I am a big fan of games like Advance Wars and Battle for Wesnoth. However, this is my honest opinion on the game.

This is the game I’ve been waiting for and has exceeded my expectations. Now at first glance this game looks very similar to Advance Wars, and you’d be right. However, this is much more than “just an Advance Wars” clone and greatly improves the Advance Wars formula and adds its own elements to it, making it much less of a slow-paced meatgrinder and much more aggressive and focused on good positioning. Games go by quickly and are very skill-based with minimal luck.

Lovely game and a Spiritual successor to Advance wars. Would recommend

Having played the Base game, DLC and explored the game in near entirety, (As well as all previous AV games) id like to talk of its strong points as well as address the ever present, ever stuck-up comparison people like to make to Advance wars.

A quick TLDR:

Game is amazing spiritual successor to Advance Wars, and a true labor of love. Graphics and music are gorgeous and improved, few mechanics are changed taking its own spin on the genre without making it weaker, it has PLENTY of base content, secrets and things to do, as well as community content once you are done with base game. I would recommend the game to both veterans of AV who want to try something similar and refreshing as well as those new to this genre of games.
