Tactical Troops: Anthracite Shift

Tactical Troops: Anthracite Shift

The game is good for casual players who like to make some chaos on the maps but also for tactical-focused minds that analyze every turn. I love versatile weaponry with its various differences in games mechanics. However, unit types could be more distinct.

Gridless movement is quite unique feature in tactical games and it’s really fun to work on positioning your units on a playfield: “Hide behind his rock so I could lean out my rifle but not stick out too much not to get hit”.

Teleporters do the job of adding a new layer to this two-dimensional game. Great idea. They could be used in more places though.

The game is “tactical” all the way - it requires thinking and few mouse-waving skills. It does not require reflex. It’s also not a fast-paced game and gives you a fair amount of time to think. I’ve played chiefly the campaign mode.

There are always two phases: prep, where you decide how to equip your platoon, and the action phase, where you’re deployed. There’s some AI behind the enemies, so they don’t behave identically in every run, so sometimes the ‘improved’ strategy you came up with after a failed run also fails.

Thermonuclear

Thermonuclear

  • The gameplay is fun and somewhat deep. Each enemy is unique and requires specific tactics to beat. You also need to keep in mind your surroundings, enemy status, and choose your equipment and consumables for each mission.

  • The graphics look decent during battles. It reminds me of Into The Breach units-as-icons visual style. Characters during dialogues require some polish, though the story here is non-important; the game fills more like chess - it doesn’t really need a deep and meaningful story arc, to begin with, if the gameplay is fun. Maybe something more will come up later (storywise), but I haven’t seen a lot of meaningful dialogues or character development during my first several hours of the game.

A fun little game. A bit clunky UI, so you need to spend some time to learn it.

Sometimes game give you hard challenges and you will not be able to finish some missions from a first try.

Freebooter of SPLORR!!

Freebooter of SPLORR!!

I flung turds at a werewolf, bribed some bats, dropped my trousers and defeated a dragon. All this while drinking beer, wine and coffee to keep me going! Was an interesting, random pickup ex’splorring' this game. Trying to win on hard mode now and not poop myself… again.

Definitely recommended for some lighthearted quirky fun!

Freebooter of SPLORR!! is a fun call back to dungeon crawlers of old. Mixed with some great humour and unique encounters, this is definitely worth it. The music and sound effects are on point, giving you an immersive experience.

The randomness of the dungeons ensures plenty of mixed gameplay, and plenty of achievements to work your way towards! Great game if you love the dungeon crawler style games! Highly recommend!

SF2K: Class Dismissed

SF2K: Class Dismissed

SF2K: Class Dismissed is, like, an intense war between a bunch of girls who are all out to ruin each other’s popularity and self-esteem. The object is to physically attack and majorly dis your enemies until they are totally mortified beyond belief. You’ll never come out on top without making the right friends, so be careful who you’re nice to. Because in the end, only the shrewdest will survive with their social status intact!

Delve into social gameplay like no other, playing with tenuous alliances and bitter rivalries on the harshest battlefield know to humans - the schoolyard playground. Who can you REALLY trust?

On your way to becoming the universe’s most popular girl you’ll experience:

  • Dynamic social gameplay - each round is never the same! Deception, trust, tears - all part of the playground.

  • Meet new friends along the way; you’re gonna need some friends to beat the other losers!!

  • You can’t get to the top without making a few enemies!

  • Compare your stats with your friends (and enemies) on the rankings board. Will you be #1 on the Most Popular board or #1 on the Losers Board?

  • Mix your gameplay up with customisable game modes. Just don’t pick a “cower only” game unless you’re all scaredy-cats.

Choose between 100+ accessories for your day on the playground. Your wardrobe starts off with the basics, so you’ve got choices like a bandana, headphones or a bone through your hair. As you earn more clout on the playground, you also learn a thing or two about fashion. You’ll get access to things like cool new glasses (even if your vision is 2021), dollar bling, butterfly wings, fancy ties and even your own bodyguard! Did I mention that you’ll also get earn full outfits from being popular, like prom dresses, mermaid outfits, 70s discotheque outfits just to name a few. Your wardrobe will be HUGE in no time, which is a good thing because who wants to wear the same thing twice in a row??

Wait a minute, I’m getting deja-vu… doesn’t this game look familiar?

If you used the Internet in the early 2000s, you probably heard about SiSSYFiGHT 2000, I mean who hasn’t. Anyway, it’s back and better than ever. We didn’t think it was possible to improve upon SiSSYFiGHT but here we are.

100-Level Dungeon

100-Level Dungeon

I can’t remember what floor I’m on(it is either in late 70’s or early 80’s of floor level due to the battle room being completely pink color), and after I win the Crimson Paladin battle, the rock doesn’t disappear from the exit of that room, causing you to be stuck in the room with no way out. I can’t find a way to get in touch with the developer of the game to inform him of this, and hope he will see this review of mine about his game and will respond back very soon. No other floor did I encounter this incident on. I was going to recommend this game after I beat the game, but I won’t be able to beat the game until there is an update that causes this issue to get resolved. Until such time, I will have to skip playing the game since there’s no way around the rock/boulder blocking the exit that I can see.

Shattered Worlds

Shattered Worlds

This is another GREAT game by Orfeas. I played the demo at Aldorlea, but waited for the game to come out here on Steam.

This game has so much going for it: great graphics, full screen, secret rooms to discover, great story, visible enemies who don’t respawn (yayyy), several game modes, including Story mode as the easiest mode, and Nightmare as the hardest mode, and - something I haven’t seen before - you can choose “Followers on/off, which means that if you go for off, you won’t see the other characters trailing behind you, which always annoyed me in other games.

interesting game - beautiful graphics with secret rooms and extra special secret rooms - a skill tree allows the player to build up each character and there is plenty of places to gather monies for items- a detailed quest guide helps with the game- story wise - an interesting one. the help sheets available do help with the game but detailed maps would be helpful in some of the caverns as would a portal to be able to return to same place after voiding out instead of having to repeat going through again. battles are not that hard in the normal mode as long as you have plenty of items. would recommend this game
