Dead In The Tropics

Dead In The Tropics

Outlive your friends in this social multiplayer elimination game. Once a day, a player must be sacrificed so the others can live. What lengths will you go to to be the last remaining?

The group must decide who is the next to be eliminated. How could you make that impossible choice? You only see one option. At night you vote.

Work together during the day, turn against each other at night. Will you be defeated by the starvation, the trials of the island, or the complicated island politics?

Key features:

  • Deep, strategic, turn-based gameplay. Simple & easy-to-learn mechanics that cause nuanced, social consequences.

  • Online multiplayer. Betray real-world friends or strangers on the internet.

  • A game with voting at it’s core. Do you lie & scheme, or fly under-the-radar? How you play is up to you.

  • Balance your individual goals with the survival of the group. Eating more will give you a survival advantage, but it will not make your popular.

  • Randomly generated events and tools, along with the unique turn-order system, make every playthrough different. The decisions you make early will determine how the week plays out.

  • The AI of the island will decide your circumstances. Those met with good luck may find themselves targeted by others, while the unfortunate may be ignored as unthreatening. Adapt your strategy to the hand you’ve been dealt.

  • Those eliminated will still have a role to play on the final day if you choose to stick around. Short sessions mean it won’t be long until you’re back in the action!

SF2K: Class Dismissed

SF2K: Class Dismissed

SF2K: Class Dismissed is, like, an intense war between a bunch of girls who are all out to ruin each other’s popularity and self-esteem. The object is to physically attack and majorly dis your enemies until they are totally mortified beyond belief. You’ll never come out on top without making the right friends, so be careful who you’re nice to. Because in the end, only the shrewdest will survive with their social status intact!

Delve into social gameplay like no other, playing with tenuous alliances and bitter rivalries on the harshest battlefield know to humans - the schoolyard playground. Who can you REALLY trust?

On your way to becoming the universe’s most popular girl you’ll experience:

  • Dynamic social gameplay - each round is never the same! Deception, trust, tears - all part of the playground.

  • Meet new friends along the way; you’re gonna need some friends to beat the other losers!!

  • You can’t get to the top without making a few enemies!

  • Compare your stats with your friends (and enemies) on the rankings board. Will you be #1 on the Most Popular board or #1 on the Losers Board?

  • Mix your gameplay up with customisable game modes. Just don’t pick a “cower only” game unless you’re all scaredy-cats.

Choose between 100+ accessories for your day on the playground. Your wardrobe starts off with the basics, so you’ve got choices like a bandana, headphones or a bone through your hair. As you earn more clout on the playground, you also learn a thing or two about fashion. You’ll get access to things like cool new glasses (even if your vision is 2021), dollar bling, butterfly wings, fancy ties and even your own bodyguard! Did I mention that you’ll also get earn full outfits from being popular, like prom dresses, mermaid outfits, 70s discotheque outfits just to name a few. Your wardrobe will be HUGE in no time, which is a good thing because who wants to wear the same thing twice in a row??

Wait a minute, I’m getting deja-vu… doesn’t this game look familiar?

If you used the Internet in the early 2000s, you probably heard about SiSSYFiGHT 2000, I mean who hasn’t. Anyway, it’s back and better than ever. We didn’t think it was possible to improve upon SiSSYFiGHT but here we are.

Eternal Warfare

Eternal Warfare

I have been dabbling in this game for a few years now and I have watched it develop and improve with the developer happy to listen and take on boards ideas and suggestions. Whilst it easy to describe it as a turn based Command and Conquer it is more than that and what is important about it is that it is simply great fun. Different game modes cater for your mood- you can battle through the various campaigns (which vary in challenge from winning through sheer force to more subtle and stealth scenarios), fight off waves of enemies in the invasion mode or conquer the world in huge skirmishes against an impressive AI which cannot be bargained with and which has had me on the ropes more than once when I let my guard down. The graphics are fun, the selection of units is interesting and all for a bargain price. What more do you want?

Heroes of Might & Magic V: Tribes of the East

Heroes of Might & Magic V: Tribes of the East

If you have never played a Heroes of Might and Magic game, shame on you. This series spans back to my early childhood. The Heroes game I played the most was WOG, a custom expansion for HoM&M3. I loved this series and logged countless hours into these games. They are indepth yet easy to pick up, hard most of the time unless you are a seasond vet.

Build up your town. Recruit Troops (this version allows upto 7th level units). Upgrade your buildings to get bounses, like resorces, spells, or your creature dwelling. In HoMM5 you can select from 2 differant upgrades for each creature type. You have a army that is lead by your hero(s). On the map you will be just one person, but if you attack a creature stack or another player the map closes in and you switch to battle. This is simalar to RPGs where u wander around a map and you trigger combat then cut screen, there is your party ready to kick some butt.

TL,DR: Treats Heroes 3 itch, but doesn’t offer much new.

Pros:

  • good ‘ole Heroes 3 with expanded hero and creature skill system

  • a bit too cartoonish, but still very solid and stylish graphics and overall design

  • every faction is very different gameplay-wise due to new global racial ability system

Cons:

  • too many crucial things are random-based, way too many for a TBS

  • low variety of interactive nodes on the map: either a guarded treasury, a permanent or temporary + to some stat or an outdoor variety of some sort of a town building. Some challenged nodes like “+1 luck to all owner’s heroes” or an architect’s hut that gives some discount on buildings in owner’s towns or allows to build twice per day would be nice. Alas

This game is something truly special. It’s smart and sophisticated, with fabulous yet understated art and music. The gameplay is very satisfying, and it makes me feel like an evil mastermind even when I lose! Play this game, you won’t regret it.

Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI

Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI

They ruined this game with the gathering storms release. They took out the ability to have larger maps not only in gathing storms but even in my game that I paid for the first to releases. They should give me a refund since the game has been broken for 2 years and I paid for what I wanted. I didn’t pay for gathering storms and didn’t like the entire concept of that release but they screwed up the versions I already paid for. Been playing this game since Civ 2 about 20 years and I will never give them another dollar. I keep looking every couple months to see if they will fix this issue but they never do. I am done with Civ games. They don’t respect their player base and don’t respect what I have paid for the game and now I can’t even play it.

Real player with 3255.4 hrs in game

I usually don’t bother to write reviews for games but the poor management of Civ VI has made me to.

This game used to run fine on launch but now it just constantly desyncs in multiplayer and is very prone to crashing. The latter which after some research turned out to be because for whatever reason the game can’t handle multiple CPU cores anymore and just crashes irregularly. I even turned a bunch of mine off to test it and voila: the game runs like shit because I artificially made my computer run like crap but it doesn’t crash anymore which proves the core issue. The desyncs in mp-games might be caused by whatever but completely brick your games, something that also was only introduced with the later DLCs and patches and did not exist earlier. Which brings back fond memories of Civ V, which had the exact same issue which, there too, made us stop playing it in multiplayer altogether.

Worms Revolution

Worms Revolution

Worms Physics Revolution

At its core, Worms Revolution is another Worm clone with modern graphics.

That said, WR does bring its own brand new elements to the game that set it, if not above, equal with most of its predecessors.

The core game is still the same great combo of;

🔸 Turn based team warfare,

🔹 Tons of weapons,

🔸 Dozens of tools,

🔹 Endless random maps,

🔸 It’s own quirky worm comedy,

🔹 Single player champing,

🔸 Puzzle / Challenges,

What Worms Revolution adds;

Real player with 420.5 hrs in game

If you don’t know Worms, you have missed something in life. There is nothing in this world comparable to the sweet brutality of the warfare of these tiny little jerks. They put sticks of dynamite on each others’ heads, throw explosive bananas, holy grenades and now even water bombs, let sheep and skunks explode, shoot with guns and water pistols, launch air-strikes and smash each other through the air with a good old smack on the head, executed with a baseball bat.

I used to play Worms 2 as a 12-years-old, and more than two decades later, I still love this game series. The combination of a totally original gameplay, outstanding humour and yet being a serious strategy game make it a winner.
