Game Theory At Christmas

Game Theory At Christmas

✱This game requires internet to play normally

✱The English of this game is made with Google Translate. My apologies.

In order to participate in the game competition, let’s make a game with the theme of Game Theory. Originally thought so, but due to various complicated reasons. In the end it became a spoof game.

Because the game operation method is very intuitive and simple, I won’t introduce it here.

The game contains a total of six non-zero sum games:

1. Guess the mean 2/3

Enter a number from 0 to 100 .The one who enters the number closest to the average 2/3 of all people’s numbers will get 1,000 coins.

2. Dollar auction

Enter a price of 0~1000 to bid for some coins. The person who bid the highest price wins the bid, but everyone has to pay their bid.

3. Traveler’s dilemma

Enter a number from 0 to 2,000 coins. The one who enters the smallest number will get the same amount of money.

4. Prisoner’s dilemma

All members cooperate, all get 1,000 coins, one betray, traitors get 500 coins, plural betray, all lose 500 coins.

5. Free rider problem

Choose ignore or resist, ignore loss of 300 coins, resist loss of 1,000 coin and terminate the round.

6. Ultimatum Game

Enter 0~500 twice to decide how much money distributed to others. If someone refuses to distribute, you will lose 1,000 coins.

The game will revolve around the above game. The accumulated star coins or snow coins can be used to upgrade characters. Each character can have different effects according to the level. Only by fulfilling the conditions of the level can you advance the plot, so you need to adopt a strategy that can meet the conditions of the level without losing too many star coins and snow coins.

Some levels require the character to reach a certain level to pass the level, so when you are stuck in a level, you can replay the previous level and accumulate star coins to upgrade your character.

ThreatGEN: Red vs. Blue

It’s a genuine work of passion presenting the cybersecurity world and profession in a gamified way. It can be used as a training tool for sure, but it’s even more than that. Personally, I think it’s a great strategy game. It’s an experience allowing you to hone the intelligent strategy of the always target prioritizing mind. The graphics and music is gorgeous. The mechanics and features sometimes contain a few bugs, but the developers of the game are generally responsive to bug reports over Discord. Your opinions and ideas can shape the game as well, as you can request a feature too.

I have over 20+ years in the IT field and 15+ years in Information Security or Cyber Security. Experience from desktop support, server support, setting up networks, configuring firewalls and hours upon hours of standing on server room floors when a configuration change went sideways. Now I work in Risk Management and Governance Risk Compliance implementing the NIST RMF and now CSF. I have also worked as an IT Auditor and Security Controls Assessor.

I haven’t read too many of the comments but I would understand if reviewers first impressions of the game as “overly simplistic” or “not reality”. And I cannot argue the first point but I would not discount the game as learning tool. What this game provides, at it’s essence, and captures is the constant challenge or struggle the IT industry faces on a day to day basis. IE patch management; social engineering; SDLC; etc.

This game is great. A classic jRPG (like FF for SNES) with a very unique story.

I was able to play this game for 5 hours in a roll and I’ve even reached mid-game (i guess).

I like the dice rolling battle and the dice combos also.

10/10

EDIT: I’ve able to finish the story with 9 hours of gameplay, I really enjoy this one.

This is a fun and engaging game, easy to learn hard to master. Worth more than the asking price; 5/5 would recommend. Honestly a really fun way to spend some spare time for those who are into strategy and puzzle games. Shout out to the dev(s)/designer(s), thanks!

Its a casual puzzler. Not enaugh challenge for me,infact 70% of the game is like a tutorial. You can find better titles for this price.I really wanted to like this game because it looks nice,it has nice music and plays well overall. Not for me but I would recommend to someone who is getting into puzzlers.Nice but too easy.

Panzer Strategy

Panzer Strategy

There is a very good reason why Grand Funk Railroad and Kylie Minogue released a song called locomotion in the 70’s and 80’s (respectively). It was because it made a hell of a lot of money for Gerry Goffin and Carole King and the singer Little Eva in the 60’s. It became an instant hit. It became an instant classic. It became the benchmark. So every man and his dog did a cover in the hope it would do the same for them. I mention the first two artists because at least all the others had some musical claim to fame befor trying to cash in.

In short, if you are new to this genre of turn-based WW2 strategy games, I recommend trying the game Order of Battle first! Panzer Strategy is in my opinion too opaque in its rules and too unfinished for inexperienced players to get past the learning curve. On the other hand if you are already familiar with this genre then I wholeheartedly recommend trying this game. It’s got a demanding learning curve, but once you are past the rough bits, the game introduces much great new gameplay mechanics. I hope you get to enjoy them too and that you join the community to help the developers mature this game into a beauty.

President for a Day - Corruption

President for a Day - Corruption

Surprisingly deep turn-based governance strategy. Little text game with the very basic visuals, drawn in some “Paint”-like software. You have a president seat in the small and poor country and you need to keep things in order, redistributing your ridiculously low budget between building new workseats, maintaining stability, getting more armies to hold the line against some rebels or rival neighbourghs… But remember that engineers are cheaper than generals, and you’ll get more donations from other countries if you’ll play nice… Just don’t overdo it. Find the balance point and keep it. You can be dictator or democrate - it doesn’t mean a thing, just keep your people alive and content. That’s all that matters really, in that short lesson on the domestic policy. Be cool and keep on smiling, you know.

A small & simple game. It feels like a mobile port, but I’m not sure about that.

You play as the president of an african country and can select several scenarios. In each scenario you are confronted with different dilemmas and problems, where you have to choose how to react.

depending on your choice, you lose/gain money or stability. You need money to build up the regions (get more income, stability or score) and the arme (needed to fight rebels).

The gameplay is very simple; if you read the game description it sound a little bit like a african tropico: BUT DON’T BELIEVE THAT. It’s not bad, but completly different from tropico-like games. Overall you just click through dialoges and take the consequences.

This game refuses to work altogether. Dont waste your money this poorly optimized game.

I had to play this game for 5 minutes before I could review it and those 5 minutes I just stared at the game wishing the stuttering would stop.

Great little game, I’m sorry it’s so short and you don’t get to keep going when you win an election (maybe something to add, each month or week is a turn???) But in all, really enjoyed the challenge and how the developpers dealt with the options to solve issues. I did buy it on special so feel it’s a good deal.

For a free puzzle game it was right in my wheelhouse! Not to hard but hard enough to be interesting. Could have done without the number-matching puzzles however. I may buy the DLC pack in a day or so.
