Reverse Crawl

Reverse Crawl

Reverse Crawl is an extremely additive game. I can’t stop playing it. I’m always so excited to start playing it and have to pry myself away each time in order to stop playing it. It’s so much fun. I really didn’t think I’d like it near as much as I actually do. I’m so glad I bought it now. It’s so worth the money. They make the game simple to understand and pick up, challenging enough to make you keep coming back, and engaging enough to encourage you to to keep playing and trying if you don’t win a certain quest the first time around. It’s everything I typically want within a turn based strategy and I have a good grasp on what I want since I grew up playing these kind of games. The only two minor critiques I can give on this game is that on the “Endless” option it gives at the end, I wish it allowed you to send out one of each group you’ve picked up along the way to make it even more endless versus the 3 or 4 waves (can’t remember which one it is right now) they give you. The other critique is I wish that they allowed more power options after each quest. That would be especially helpful when going for a certain theme as I’m currently trying to go with a Necromancy theme as much as possible on my current run through of the game. I feel like they should allow one option for each catagory of powers (Necromancy, Saboteur, etc.) each time. Other than that, it’s a fantastic game. This is definitely a game I will be encouraging and even begging my friends to play (I’ve already started begging one of my friends to do so). As far as everyone else is concerned, if you love to play turned based strategies but don’t want to lose your life over a game, don’t buy this game. If you love to play turned based strategies and wouldn’t mind forgetting you have a life, buy this game. Reverse Crawl receives 4.5 skeletons out of 5. The last skeleton just has a head and a torso. Poor guy.

I’ve always been a fan of Nerdook and his games, so consider me a little bias. Reverse Crawl isn’t exactly what it looks like on the surface; The game is more about controlling a group of “Evil” minions that grow in strength through your decisions during multiple turn-based battles. After every battle, you get a choice to upgrade a specific area of your strengths; This could be making your Skeleton Minions deal more damage, or one of your more powerful creatures to gain a new ability. The Campaign is about three solid hours, give or take, and there are no real penalties for losing a “Mission”. Every step gives you a choice of up to 3 different pathways, save for explicit encounters, and you can grow in strength depending on what you choose.

Press Kit

Guide disgruntled guild leaders leaving their homelands to face the harsh Untamed Wilds. Row-based battles with arguing allies reward strategic play in this 16-bit JRPG.

Send the party out on expeditions into randomly determined Biomes, each with their own set of Monster mobs and unique boss encounters. Collect loot to exchange for gear, leveling the heroes as they succeed in progressively harder expeditions to moving their caravan deeper into the Wilds.

Can you deliver them safely to their new home?

Row Based Combat

Combat is a synthesis of turn based order with a row-based skill system. Your heroes each possess 6 unique skills that must be used cooperatively to overcome the myriad of monsters within the Untamed Wilds.

Narrative Based On Relationship Scores

As party members fight alongside each other relationships develop playing out in an ongoing narrative. Will the party overcome their differences and develop the trust necessary to achieve their goal or will the caravan breakup part way through the expedition?

Argument System

Each hero possesses an Argument meter that rises during fights. Be sure to monitor this score because if it gets too high they may refuse to help fight the monsters!

Swap Party Members Between Encounters

The party can only have four active combatants so feel free to swap in healthier party members after a rough fight! If a hero gets knocked out during an expedition they will automatically revive once the party gets back to the Caravan.

Unique Mini-boss and Boss Encounters

Each Biome possesses four mini-bosses and four unique bosses that must be overcome through the course of the caravan’s travels. Learn the attack patterns of each and how to use your party’s skills to overcome!

The Depths of Tolagal

The Depths of Tolagal

A round of applause for the developers here! They succeeded in creating a tough as nails rougelike that challenges you measure ever step and I do mean EVERY step but (for the most part) only punished the clumsy or the uninformed. I have died several times by virtue of approaching a hallway and accidentally alerting an extra orc or two and promptly getting my teeth kicked in. I have come to realization that the tactical aspect of the game is actually a good bit deeper than rpg aspect of it. Level progression unlocks triats as opposed to a solid stat boost across the board. Many of the traits simply open up intersting opportunties which require you to adjust your playstyle in order to gain an advantage. So overall I would say this game is TACTICAL rougelike more than a classic rougelike rpg.

Beta tested before the game hit steam.

The studio may not be updating anymore, but the main dev (matt) that responded to beta reports was responsive and helpful.

Fun game, gets tough at the the second to last and last map and really makes you question what load out you wanna run in terms of skills and weapons so yes, it’s worth the price. It’s pretty fun and once the difficulty ramps up you have to think about choices even more. What skills you need, more inv space, throwing weapons, push back weapons to make the enemies waste a turn, etc..

Dungeon Rushers

Dungeon Rushers

So here is my review. I just pulled it straight from the discussions page where i wrote it. Sadly its all true, and none of it is subjective. These issues all exist. So if you can justify playing 20$$ to put up with all the below issues, have at er.

Glitches/ bugs . update the game

Hello,

I purchased game and have played about 5 hours. I already have discovered some major glitches.

  1. When you win a fight, and collect reward, you are often ripped off out of your loot. For example almost any time the game tells you recieve more than 1 of any given crafting item, you only actually recieve 1!!!! 3 iron and 3 skulls as reward it says on screen, nope you get one of each. This happens almost every time, especially with iron, the ONE resource you seem to need for everything.

Dungeon Rushers is fun turn-based rpg focused adapting to different enemies and situations as you progress. While I have been playing I have seen several updates to fix what the game currently offered, was well as new content added in that has made the game even more enjoyable.

While the gameplay can be seen as repetative at first, it does become more interesting as you progress. The gradual addition of enemies as you progress as well as new team members positioned throughout the campaign add a level of fluidity to the combat system so it does not get too dull.

Dungeons of Voidria

Dream Quest, Desktop Dungeons, Slay the Spire - if you like those you’ll probably enjoy this game! I’m loving it so far.

As of this review there’s plenty of bugs but nothing that ruined the game. If that bothers you perhaps wait a bit.

Even in EA, it’s already fun. The mechanics of the skills and spells are an interesting mashup. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this game goes and am happy to support now.

Keen: One Girl Army

Keen: One Girl Army

Remember the obligatory ice puzzles in obligatory ice dungeons in all sorts of action-adventures, where your character only stops moving when they hit a wall or obstacle? Well this decribes Keen’s overall gameplay in a nutshell. But it’s not like that navigation ever gets annoying. The levels were designed in a way that this kind of traversial becomes only hard when it’s meant to be a puzzle, otherwise the path you can choose is usually obvious and after a short time you almost forget about the restrictive movement.

Game info:

First off, I need to say, Keen: One Army Girl is such a beautiful looking game.

You’ll play as a delightfully cantankerous 8-year-old named Kim, taking on & fighting a variety of enemies in a turn-based sliding puzzle with an intriguing story you want to learn more of. Kim can only move in a straight line, stopping only at the end or until something blocks her.

Sandwalkers

Sandwalkers

If you’re interested in Sandwalkers, please wishlist and follow us :)

Every decade, the Mka tribe sends caravans of adventurers into the Phithi, the meteorological chaos that keeps the Uwando tribes isolated from each other and makes life outside the refuges almost impossible.

Their mission: to establish diplomatic and trade relations, to explore and reclaim the lands left to the mercy of monsters and pirates, and, most importantly, to plant a new tree city that can become a refuge for the Mka and their allies. Regardless of the success or failure of their mission, the caravans must send the memories they have gained back to the capital, using the crystospheres carried by traveling beetles.

  • Guide a caravan of adventurers through ever-changing landscapes.

  • Fight and survive in the face of acid rain, sandstorms and heat waves.

  • Tame hostile creatures, rescue refugees, seek allies for mutual aid, or follow the blood path and loot everything you can.

  • Seek rich arable soil to plant a new tree city for your people.

  • Progress by passing on your knowledge to a new caravan.

  • Repair the broken climate, and put an end to centuries of wandering.

  • Make choices that will affect your future expeditions.

  • Each character has a different job that greatly influences the gameplay. It’s up to you to explore mythical ruins as an Archeologist, or track down huge beasts as a Hunter.

  • Don’t underestimate the weather! It influences the movements of the characters and the outcomes of confrontations.

Freebooter of SPLORR!!

Freebooter of SPLORR!!

I flung turds at a werewolf, bribed some bats, dropped my trousers and defeated a dragon. All this while drinking beer, wine and coffee to keep me going! Was an interesting, random pickup ex’splorring' this game. Trying to win on hard mode now and not poop myself… again.

Definitely recommended for some lighthearted quirky fun!
