Disciples II: Gallean’s Return

Disciples II: Gallean’s Return

!!!!! ON WINDOWS 7/10: !!!!!

Run with Direct3D turned on, stretch to fullscreen, and 800x600 res. Trust me btw, the 800x600 res looks INCREDIBLE b/c of the awesome textures in this game.

70 hours in at the time of this review, I just finished the 2nd campaign (there are 4, and this isn’t even the expansion set) on Average (normal) difficulty. This is a game that will challenge you, but also reward you. Whether you build massive armies or put all of your time and energy into one unit, you will be surprised how difficult it is to stop moving those little bastards around. Buy this game if you have the opportunity.

One of the all times favourites games : Diablo2, Age of Empires 1&2, Disciples 1&2. Special mention for Civilizations 3 Heroes of might and magic 3. There was nothing like them at that time, and there still isn’t.

For fans of the genre and disciples 2 in special, i recommend checking Atlantica Online (cashgrabber and if you are not in an active strong guild there is no way to have the top mercs and craft top equipment, but the game itself is so much like Disciples 2, only mmorpg)

Disciples 2 had lots of room for improvement, but is a fantastic game, simply amazing. Disciples 3 unfortunately turned away from the style of the game, moving units in battle ruined the tactical pre-battle arrangement of troops.

Blood Bowl 3

Blood Bowl 3

Put on your cleats, buckle on your helmet, adjust your shoulder pads and breast plate… and (discreetly) tuck a sharp dagger into your belt.

War disappeared in the Old World when the inhabitants decided to resolve their differences by playing the god Nuffle’s sacred sport: Blood Bowl. And yet it is no less bloody than the battlefields it has replaced. Murder, mutilation, cheating, corruption, sorcery and even divine intervention come one after another on the pitch, to the delight of everyone watching!

  • Merciless, not brainless – Take charge of a team from amongst the 12 available races, each with unique characteristics, and stop your opponents from advancing by carefully positioning your players. Dodge or mercilessly eliminate whoever gets in your way and reach the end zone to score the decisive touchdown! Naturally, the best strategists should have an edge, but… who knows? A rampaging troll might eat a teammate and change the course of a match.

  • You’re the boss – Create your team, recruit your players, customize their appearance, emblems and armour, recruit cheerleaders and a coach, then take part in the most ferocious competitions in the Old World. But beware: injuries are commonplace, and it’s more than likely that some of your players will be carried off the field in a body bag, bringing a definitive end to a once-promising career…

What’s new in Blood Bowl 3

  • Based on the official rules of the latest edition of the board game, with new skills and overhauled passing mechanics

  • 12 races to choose from including, for the first time in a Blood Bowl video game, the Black Orcs, the Imperial Nobility, the Old World Alliance and the Chaos Renegades

  • Fields with special game rules to vary the types of match

  • New customization options for your coaches, cheerleaders, teams and every piece of armour worn by your players

  • A solo campaign open to all races

  • An improved competitive mode with new league management features and an official ladder

  • A flexible timer so you are free to organize practice sessions between experienced and rookie players

The brand-new solo campaign

An agent has noticed your skills as a coach and decided to finance you and your team, so you can participate in a new Blood Bowl event: the Clash of Sponsors. Will you be able to demolish your opponents and win over the spectators?

  • Play with the race of your choice

  • Take on teams sponsored by the most influential parties in the Old World

  • See how you stack up against star players who are now the faces of major brands, including the legendary Griff Oberwald

  • You will be able to use the team you built during the campaign in any other game mode.

Competitive modes with endless possibilities

In addition to the campaign and friendly matches against other players or the AI, Blood Bowl 3 has a brand-new competitive mode which lets you compete against players of all levels, from around the world:

  • Competitive seasons with an official ladder

  • Players can join a league, with new management options and the possibility of creating and configuring your own tournaments the way you want (stadiums, pitches, timing, races, etc.)

  • Regular challenges with temporary game modes

Disciples II: Rise of the Elves

Disciples II: Rise of the Elves

Introduction

Disciples II:Rise of the Elves is my favorite game but I will try to give it a fair review with pros and cons. I have spent about 400 hours on the game on GoG and started to play on Steam a bit. I will be referring Disciples as D to shorten it. Also, I will try to give as much details as I can about the game.

Review

Gameplay

D:II is a medieval dark fantasy game with 5 playable fractions.

TL; DR Disciples 2: Rise of the Elves is a really good game and a fun turn-based strategy-RPG that will last many hours if or when you get into it. This version adds further variety to the base game both in terms of playstyle, balance changes, and in neutral enemies. I highly recommend it; however, the game did not work without a fix so be aware of that.

Note that Disciples 2: Rise of the Elves is an expansion that takes place after the events of Gallean’s Return. Not all campaigns are included in Rise of the Elves therefore Gallean’s Return should be played first unless you just want gameplay and the custom maps.

Disciples III: Reincarnation

Disciples III: Reincarnation

If I got to name one game which receives a lot of hate yet is one of my favorites, Disciples III: Reincarnation would be my answer without the slightest hesitation. I’m gonna go through what most people complained about then throw my 2 cents on each criticism.

“Game is too hard." While in English version the 3 difficulties are Easy/Normal/Hard, there are Normal/Hard/Hardcore in Russian’s respectively. To put it another way, there is no such thing as Easy mode in this game. For the love of Bethrezen, just lower the difficulty if you can’t handle the harder one. Also keep in mind that even though the game eventually gets away from world map strategy, exploring the map and choosing the right mobs to fight for XP are vital to strengthen your armies. If you’re wandering to a place where most neutral armies are currently out-leveled you, just head to other directions then come back another time. I’ve watched a streamer got frustrated after keeping on running into a Troll with a level-3-party (Tier 1) for like 20 times then screamed this game sucked really bad. Obviously, he was playing Disciples III: Suicide Squad Limited Edition and indeed that game sucks. While this is the case, sometimes you will find yourself in a situation where it looks like there are no neutral mobs you’re able to farm for XP and the rest of the map is just too powerful. Don’t worry, you can just grind the ruins, dungeons,… which are gonna be inactive for a few turns after being looted. Alternately, you can visit a training camp to level up any unit with a direct conversion of 1 gold = 1 experience point.

Are you SERIOUS?????? Come on….!

This game is roughly (no exaggeration) 800x better than Disciples 2.

History: so I played Disciples 1-2 (and all expansions as they were called before we had things called DLC lol) And I loved both. Haven’t played them in decades.

Bought Disciples 3 and first expansion in BOX form. Played them. Liked them. Didn’t play again for years. Then Steam had a sale for Disciples 3 and their expansions. Bought it. Played it. Liked it. Not loved it. Liked it.

Disciples 3 Reincarnation came out (Ok now this is getting ridiculous. How many expansions/DLC/Versions are there going to be for this version.) And Played it over the last couple weeks. Liked it. Most of it.

Disciples: Liberation

Disciples: Liberation

Never played Disciples (1). Was a big fan of Disciples 2. Disciples 3 was a disappointment. I was grateful for the release of Reincarnation which allowed me to finally play the 3rd issue of the game, but I didn’t finish it. I truly thought that the Disciples series was over.

So I was completely surprised in October of this year when I came across Disciples Liberation. The trailer looked interesting and there was a lengthy free demo being offered. I downloaded it, played it for some 30 hours, and was hooked. Later the full game was released and I just finished it after investing more than 120 hours.

Real player with 182.3 hrs in game

73 hours to finish the game, well I’m not the speedrun type. I like to go away from my screen and make me another coffee. With 73 hours I finished the first run, if you want to do the true ending you’ll need to unlock and launch Liberation mode.

Pros :

  • Beautiful art, proof that you can design lots of armors for a woman, and none of them is a titanium bikini. Maps, dungeons, Yllian, gear… really satisfying.

  • The big story is kind of déjà vu. No spoiler : you decide who is the bad guy, you have 4 choices and in the end you crush all of them anyway to become the champion of the gods of god champions. And nobody cares ! Look : when you take the highway from Lisboa to Vladivostok, ALL THE WAY you are fully conscious that your destination will be Vladivostok, right ? So if the big direction is 300% predictable, the good part is the quality of the journey, the details :

FIRST comment I will last for eternity!

Well thoughtful game.

There’s plenty of potential to this, I really hoped some features were unlocked, but I guess they are still under development.

I loved the combos we can do with different characters, my fav so far to use are the Half -Vampire and the Paladin.

The game’s becomes intense when your chars start to have low health and stamina, and the atmosphere the game really nails it.

Loved the art in the game, kinda a mixture of battle brothers and darkest dungeon, but original enough to be distinct.

With around an hour play, i would like to give constructive criticism for the devs.

The genre is popular, im sure there are a lot of people including me who are willing to play Darkest Dungeon type of games out there. But there are a few things that need to be addressed i believe.

I started the game with Ice Mage, so no tutorial. I dont see the reason, why there is tutorial with Warrior and not with another hero? Doesnt make sense.

Thats why at times i felt i had lack of info of what to do. I had to stop my run with Ice mage because my Vampire buddy had died, i spent most of my gold on health potiıns, but stamina potions seem much more important. Because your stamina doesnt regen. This again is a flaw in game design i believe. There should be another way to regen your stamina besides spending money for it. (Maybe there is but i just got stuck and couldnt play further due to this. And it was the easy mode.)
