I was expecting some revival of MOO2.

I started my first game at “Commander level”, expecting to take a quick and severe defeat, but learn enough for an enjoyable second round.

For the first 8 hours, it was fun: build your ships, evolve your captains, oh! there is a tech tree, great! And those aliens, are they friendly or not? Pirates, space travellers, threats, offers.. Excellent!

After 8 hours, I started to realize that:

1/ I did not made any strategic decision, I just clicked randomly on the various “evolution trees”, I did not experience a single defeat.

Radiant Arc

Radiant Arc

TLDR: 9/10, 100% worth playing if you love classic style RPGs

Radiant Arc is a fantastic RPGMaker game. You control Linky in his quest to help prevent global disaster. Along the way, you discover future party members, develop new abilities, find new and powerful gear, and ultimately how to save the world.

Pros:

  • Choose which enemies you fight. No random battles - enemies are sprites on the screen you can either avoid or fight head on (attacking from behind for an advantage).

  • Fantastic character progression. The gear, skill system, and leveling system feel immensely rewarding and useful. Probably my favorite part of this game.

What i like about

“the tale of the Radiant Arc”:

  • class based skills with skill point system to unlock skills

  • cast of characters

  • character quests (there is a story behind every character)

  • attribute books (to boost a char you like)

  • Items (some cool weapons and armor to find)

  • optional dungeons

  • Sid (upgrade a few weapons and armor)

  • ending Scene

  • play time is from one play through

  • sequel? (there was a line “let´s move on to the next part..")

Here is a list about my thoughts while playing the game:

最后的大法师 光明之旅(Last Archmage Journey of Light)

最后的大法师 光明之旅(Last Archmage Journey of Light)

The legendary mage Merlin betrayed by his teammates in the Demon Wars, fall from one of the legendary heroes to a rookie mage, and embarks on a new journey. After all the ups and downs, love and hate, is he confused? Or will he forge ahead and take the journey of light to be the greatest mage in the land of magic? Complete weapon and equipment system, powerful magic system and various ways to use magic scrolls. Welcome to this Japanese open world exploration RPG turn-based game!

In addition to the nine characters who join the main team, hundreds of unique NPCs will also appear.Unintended discoveries of treasures can significantly strengthen a character, instead of the traditional upgrade system. The areas of the game are left free to explore from the start.

The combat system highlights the differences in resistance to the six types of magic: wind, fire, lightning, ice, light, and darkness. Different demons have different resistances to these six types of magic. The resistance of different demons to spells in the game cannot be directly observed. The various maps in the game are not marked with difficulty levels, while this could be done, the development team felt that it would ruin the authenticity of the game. After all, life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what the next piece will taste like. Furthermore, the weapons that characters from different professions can equip are different, and the vast majority of them have additional effects.

What are you waiting for? Come on a journey through this wonderfully magical fantasy world!

Scythe: Digital Edition

Scythe: Digital Edition

I’m a pretty experienced player on the board game, so I know what I’m talking about: this game follow the rules quite well, except for a few mistakes (mill that create meeples WTF?!)

the board is exactly the same as the real game, and even if I felt a bit lost cause there is no infos about your mat type except at the very beginning of the game or somewhere I never found quite easily, it would be nice to have the name of the combo ( example : rusviet patriotic ) all the time, to me this can be quite important as there is some combos that are very OP (Rusviet industrial is already banned wich follow the rules of Jamey Steigmaier, crimea patriotic should follow) but those combos should remain open if you play a non ranked game or with one of your friends )

Bought this game during steam sale.

I love the board version. Was pretty excited to test the digital version as well. Here is my review and why its pretty meh.

TLDR: good gameplay, terrible netcode/online games. Don’t bother buying the DLC (Invaders from afar) since factions are really bad and you will end playing them a lot more than people without the DLC. A bit expensive for the experience. Worth it for the $8 I paid during the sale.

1. Gameplay 7/10

Its pretty much the same as the board game. Works very well. It can be a bit troublesome at first to get a grisp on how to make a turn, read the boardstate etc but after around 30 games it feels really natural.

Child of Light

Child of Light

Funshine Bear was hurtling towards my screen with sniper precision. My 7-year old daughter is a stuffed toy-throwing expert. She really fell in love with the lead heroine, Aurora, and each dramatic encounter would leave her aghast as the story unfolded. In this case a plushie bear attack was warranted as Child of Light got real right there. Funshine Bear might have lost a bit of stuffing too. The game was my choice for our daddy-daughter gaming nights and we enjoyed it so much, it warranted two playthroughs.

Real player with 40.1 hrs in game

My review for Child of Light:

First of all, I’m going to address 2 concerns that I found in Steam community hub:

1. Uplay

Those who’re going to buy this game should know that this game is going to use Uplay, Ubisoft own game client. I noticed that many people dislike Uplay for certain reason so gonna respect that. I have my own issue with Uplay as well. So if you want to buy this game, make sure you know what you’re getting into.

2. Day 1 DLC

When the game is released, the dev put several DLCs immediately, including Golem DLC and Dark Aurora DLC which is the Special Edition bonus DLCs, Light Aurora DLC which is the preorder bonus and several “cheat” DLC which you can buy extra oculis for your game. Golem DLC gives you a new party member and a small quest to get him, while Light Aurora and Dark Aurora DLC give you skins for Aurora and extra oculis and bonus stats. The “cheat” DLC is actually consists of oculis, which means you can buy the oculis using real money once. Among these DLCs, only Golem DLC adds a bit of content while the skins just for eye candy. As much as I hate day 1 DLC, if you want to support the dev, buy the Golem and the skins DLC only. Of course you can ignore the DLCs if you don’t want to support day 1 DLCs. I myself didn’t bought any of the DLCs except Light Aurora since I preorder it.

ISLANDERS

ISLANDERS

Islanders Review

This adventure never ends!

Some key points that this game offers:

  1. Procedural Generation; the fun never ends!

  2. Two gameplay modes

  3. Indie Gem 5/5

Gameplay & Controls:

The game is played with your keyboard and mouse; the layout and keys are pretty simplistic. This is in no way whatsoever a bad thing! This is simply a minimalistic game that doesn’t require much to offer you hours of joy.

You start the game on one island, choosing between two build packs. Once chosen it is up to you to determine where to place your buildings. Depending on the position that you build, you will receive a score for each placed building. There are several factors that multiply the score; it can either be increased or receive a loss. It comes down to some strategic thinking.

Real player with 122.9 hrs in game

THE ONE-SENTENCE SUMMARY…

Islanders is a simple yet sophisticated city builder that is both incredibly relaxing and delightfully addictive—and a VERY worthy addition to your game library!

[➕] THE POSITIVES

  • The ART STYLE. The game makes the absolute most of its colors and shapes to provide a minimalistic setting where you can build and grow your idyllic island city. Everything is themed to “fit” together—from the sprawling farmlands to the Tetris-like cities and manufacturing areas—and ultimately results in an island-scape that feels like your own, personal creation!
