Plants vs. Zombies GOTY Edition

Plants vs. Zombies GOTY Edition

Plant vs. Zombies is a cute, addictive and fun game for all ages. I played it a lot of my old school laptop, and it ran completely fine even on that. The game has a lengthy story with various challenges to overcome. There’s many plants, zombies and maps to play around with and the game is very addictive to play. The story is very simple, but fun. Crazy Dave is a quite hillarious character.

This is a tower defense game. Your task is to defend the garden against waves of enemies and upgrade the garden. It starts of easy, but new zombies and plants are added throughout the story and things can get challenging. You will earn coins and other rewards which you use to buy new items from the store and upgrade your Zen Garden.

For you to know if your game preferences aligns with mine: I play a lot of TD and I love hunting that last 100% achievements. I like strategy over clickfest. I like unique td mechanics and difficulty that forces you to try many strategies before succeeding.

After 50+ hours (sounds like a lot, I might have left it on running during night or something) and 100% steam achievements (which are different from the in-game achievments of which I have 94/154).

The dev(s?) seems to be very active and you can feel there is heart in the game. Artstyle is nice and stylish and the theme is consistent.

Emerge: Cities of the Apocalypse

Emerge: Cities of the Apocalypse

What kind of game is it?

Emerge: Cities of the Apocalypse is relatively casual hybrid game of with light elements of zombie tower defense, resource management, RPG. The recurring goal of the game is to secure different cities by reclaiming sectors within the city. Each reclaimed sectors allows for limited construction of resource-generating buildings, either providing much needed production for different types of automated defenses, research points for advanced technology, economy for purchases, or crystals for miscellaneous purposes including recruiting NPC survivors.

EMERGE: CITIES OF THE APOCALYPSE

! WARNING: This is an addictive “One more turn before i will go bed” game!

Emerge is an unique 4X city-builder/defender which got crossed with some rogue-lite features!

What is this game about?

You’ll have to save cities (Or die trying) by capturing/defending territories (An amount is required in each mission) and by doing a special objective (The real condition to win that matters).

I said “rogue-lite” cause you cannot manually save your game, it means you can’t “go back” and you create an unique character for each mission. There are plenty of classes, starting bonuses and weapons to choose.

Endless Horde

Endless Horde

Cheap, Challenging and Fun but lacks Developer support

Positives

  • Game Cards

  • Not one game/redo is the same (objectively you have to defend the scientist/s so they spawn at different locations)

  • Fun and short your not thrown into massive amounts of HUD

Negatives

  • Bugs (as of writing this review)

*Zombies become immortal after a certain wave, 7 10 or 11

*Zombies AI paths wrongly, get glitched walking/stuck against walls, enter aggro/running mode even tho object isn’t in line of sight and is over the other side of the wall

I love the attempt on a fresh take on tower defense. We really need those attempts. Sadly, I don’t think it worked out very well this time.

Most commonly seen in tds you steadily build up your defenses and get stronger as you go. It’s about composition and timing.

But here it’s about losing all your stuff as slowly as you can. I know it’s a vague point of critique, but the constant feeling of impending doom; it’s not if you’ll lose but when, bundled with some pretty hectic mechanics. I feel scrolling around the map clicking loot-boxes before they disappear(!) is disappointingly boring, if not straight up awful gameplay.

Atom Zombie Smasher

Atom Zombie Smasher

Atom Zombie Smasher is a super little indie strategy game. The basic premise is that you take on the guise of a commander holding back the zombie hordes from overruning your city.

It works on two levels; first is the strategy where a map of the city districts is where you see the progress of zombie infestations and plan your next mission. You can choose which military assets you take with you from: infantry, snipers, mines, demolitions, barricades, gas attracting teams or artillery. Once you initiate the mission, the game changes to a tactical sub-game where you place your units on the map to best protect the civilians you are trying to extract from the map, while avoiding collateral damage. To many dead civilians and you fail.

There’s alot to be said about Atom Zombie Smasher. the game is an amazing mix of challenging gameplay and challenges.

Atom zombie smasher does not hesitate to put you smack dab into action, your first challenge becomes to rescue some civilians from an impending zombie invasion which sets the tone for the rest of the game.

As you progress in the game you’re provided with varying mercenaries that randomly get picked for missions. Some examples of mercenaries are for example ranger teams, snipers and dynamite teams. Each map will provide a different challenge which requires alot of tactical thinking and planning.

You are human in flesh and have beautiful skin

but watch out your surrounding there is skeletons hand, the Naughty one,

and be careful, they want to steal your skin.

To defend it obviously you have to slap their hands away.

I know you can do it, even though it’s sound hard,

oh well, it’s sound pretty easy too.

The game itself is challenging.

Speaking of skeletons,

did you ever wonder, why they are seems so calm?

You know what, that’s because nothing gets under their skin 😜

Zombie Defense

Zombie Defense

A free Tower Defense game bad developed. Graphics are nice, far above of genre average, and are the stong point of the product. Mechanics is good, with a lot of towers and characters upgradables, and a huge tree of enhances to unblock by collecting money ingame, but maybe it scarce a bit of types of foes, and one of them is over-powered (a common zombie that holds an unbreakable shield). Has many well designed little maps and, with certain enhance, player even can place defenses at will. Gameplay is friendly to user, progress is easy but challenger, has many game modes, and the most important, is not a “pay for win” free game although has a micropayment system. To unlock all units in main two modes takes about more of 80 hours.

Basically a Flash-Game with microtransactions. Don’t really know what else to say about it. If you enjoyed zombie-td flashgames, you’ll probably enjoy this game too. The microtransactions don’t really feel justifiable. There are no servers to pay upkeep for, since the game is entirely singleplayer. But the game is also not really forcing you to buy anything and, at least to me is still very enjoyable without buying anything. Of course, my enjoyment is a little bit tainted because in the back of my head I know that the microtransactions are there but I guess, I’ll just have to get used to that. Seems like the times where (at least the vast majority of) flashgames were entirely for free are over. Now absolutely everything has to have some sort of microtransactions, no matter if it’s just a little flashgame-like thing or a so-called “aaa” game that I already paid for when i bought it.

Over 9000 Zombies!

Over 9000 Zombies!

Over 9000 Zombies is a top down 2D shooter that is in development, and what was given to us on day one was great in my opinion, it is simple, it’s easy to get into. Alot like Nation Red without the absurdly overwhelming difficulty to start out on. You collect scrap that zombies drop to fortify where you wish to dig in at, you can also build turrents and find new weaponry that zombies may drop. There are also an absurd ammount of zombies on screen at one time, there is veriations of zombies among the horde that don’t feel so rehashed. A massive assortment of weapons that you can pick up that carry from game to game to make you stronger aginst the zombie threat plus new weapons to pick up ontop of that.

Looking to invest your time in a short game that, despite being just that, is also very entertaining? Well, Over 9000 Zombies! brings many things to the table - over 9000 different helpings in fact (just kidding).

–——————————————————-

Through a retro styled theme, Over 9000 Zombies! does what many other zombie survival games can’t. It brings thrills and fun into the realm of an already bloated genre that verge on impossible, annoying, complex, or expensive. For the low low price of $1,49, and for a two-pack no less, you will most certainly be entertained for long periods of time. Take a step back into the late 1990s. Experience gaming through its purest lens. This is honestly a great little title that you can play with any friend.

末日杀 Might & Trap: Apocalypse

末日杀 Might & Trap: Apocalypse

Can’t resize things, and in fact if you try using unity command lines to resize it yourself and window it, it MAXIMIZES ANYWAY. The in-game option to window it doesn’t let you change the resolution, so you just have a giant bordered window. Why the fuck would they not only exclude basic options but refuse to let you resize it with unity’s built in tools?
