ZAMB! Endless Extermination

ZAMB! Endless Extermination

I have not played the 2014 release of this game, so I will review this version by itself. ZAMB! is a twin-stick shooter where you have to defend power nodes by building turrets, placing different types of traps, and using other offensive abilities. We played the co-op for a few hours and the game managed to give as a challenge by exposing our lack of teamwork ;). ZAMB has 2 playable characters, one of them places the turrets, and the other dude is more like a crowd-control spammer. However, both characters can pick up and carry turrets around which is really cool. There are a few different areas with multiple stages, each ending with a boss fight. The game even has an endless mode, control binding and lots of upgrades - more than I can say for some similar games. I would recommend playing it with someone, but it has the same content for single player as well (15 stages, 3 boss fights, and several endless maps)

Fun mix between a tower defense and a shooter. You can be either melee or range

Finish it in solo and coop. It also has an infinite mode

Difficulty pretty well balanced, with good powers and towers to unlock.

And even if it could be quite messy sometimes to see what’s going on with all the fx displayed, it’s definitely worth the price for a decent couple of hours

One Shell Straight to Hell

One Shell Straight to Hell

(Review was updated on Dec 2021) I’ve spent many hours alpha-testing this game and decided to buy it on release day. Here are my thoughts so far, a list of positive and negative elements:

The good stuff:

  • Uniquely witty main character.

  • Good variety of unlockable skills and lootable guns, be it primaries or secondaries.

  • The setting: a terribly haunted mansion property set in the 1910’s - 1920’s.

  • The Padre’s voice actor probably smoked 10 cigars and drank too much whiskey. Fantastic.

One Shell Straight to Hell

There’s a brand-new Roguelike indie title on the streets; One Shell Straight to Hell. One Shell Straight to Hell lets the player experience the best of two worlds with its well-put-together Roguelike dungeon-crawling gameplay with a touch of base defense elements mixed in.

At first glance, the game seems to be simple enough with its Procedural Generation World. But as you cross the first stage after finishing a base defense wave, the game becomes something much more.

--- --- ![Over 9000 Zombies!](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/273500/header.jpg "") ## Over 9000 Zombies! Over 9000 Zombies is a top down 2D shooter that is in development, and what was given to us on day one was great in my opinion, it is simple, it's easy to get into. Alot like Nation Red without the absurdly overwhelming difficulty to start out on. You collect scrap that zombies drop to fortify where you wish to dig in at, you can also build turrents and find new weaponry that zombies may drop. There are also an absurd ammount of zombies on screen at one time, there is veriations of zombies among the horde that don't feel so rehashed. A massive assortment of weapons that you can pick up that carry from game to game to make you stronger aginst the zombie threat plus new weapons to pick up ontop of that. *– [Real player with 12.4 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198035004965)* **Looking to invest your time in a short game that, despite being just that, is also very entertaining? Well, _**Over 9000 Zombies!**_ brings many things to the table - over 9000 different helpings in fact (just kidding).** ### –------------------------------------------------------- Through a retro styled theme, _**Over 9000 Zombies!**_ does what many other zombie survival games can't. It brings thrills and fun into the realm of an already bloated genre that verge on impossible, annoying, complex, or expensive. For the low low price of $1,49, and for a two-pack no less, you will most certainly be entertained for long periods of time. Take a step back into the late 1990s. Experience gaming through its purest lens. This is honestly a great little title that you can play with any friend. *– [Real player with 7.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198159193354)* --- ![Vermitron](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1359020/header.jpg "") ## Vermitron Very cutesy action game with old school art. If you are up for a retro adventure and like exploration, give it a go! It doesn't look that challenging, but it's not easy. Also, there are some mechanics I didn't get at first, but you learn as you progress more in the game. *– [Real player with 9.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197986943935)* TL;DR: Give Vermitron a shot. When most people think of twin-stick shooters, they think of raw micro mechanics. Disciplined aiming, shooting, and dodging, instead of careful, methodical thinking. Tibor Fobel embraces the later, fabricating a retro and tower defense hybrid. The result: a solid, old-school action game that deserves more attention. Vermitron follows an intrepid astronaut, defending an endangered flower from invading insects. Player's progress level-to-level, descending further into an infested base. Winning a floor is simple: blossom your flower by collecting three watering cans. However, hungry pests will be squirming to your base, so you'll have to defend your plant along the way. Slaughtering worms and flies is easy. The trouble comes when picking up a watering can, which spawns a wave of insects. You also become slower, barely moving faster than a grub. Without a base defended by armed towers, your flower will be easy pickings as you travel back. *– [Real player with 7.3 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198845626871)* --- ![X-Morph: Defense](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/408410/header.jpg "") ## X-Morph: Defense Tower defense genre was never known for having a lot of variety. And _man_, we have a lot of such games. In a way, tower defense is like hidden objects genre. Which means that most of such games feel almost exactly the same and it's really hard to remember certain names. It's like “_Tower defense games? I've played those before…_”. So, how to make your game to stand out? Well, there are only two ways. The first one is to add a unique feature. And the second one is to make it especially spectacular. **EXOR Studios** chose the second way. *– [Real player with 79.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197981638563)* ### Usable Planet Located X-Morph: Defense or XMD is a combination of a 'Tower Defense' and a 'Manic Top Down Shooter'. At first I had my doubts this was a good idea, but in game it makes perfect sense. The issue with the standard tower defense is you place your towers, start the wave and sit back, maybe add or alter a tower or two during, then go back to waiting for the wave to end and repeat. This is not the case for XMD, unless you're playing on Easy with all unlocks. You have the usual between wave time to do what you need, place, move, sell & change turrets, but once the wave starts you can personally get involved, helping out how you see fit, as well as all of the above. *– [Real player with 54.3 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198025715587)* --- ![I'm Titanium](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/597990/header.jpg "") ## I'm Titanium 9/10. Something new and really original on Steam among bunch of Indie trash! There are a big amount of advantages: * A huge world game, that is interesting to discover. * Game is filled with a lot of hidden features and objects, like rare enemies, weapons and biomes. * Game isn't easy, but at the same time isn't hard. * Spectacular and high-intensive gameplay. * Nice graphics and good optimization during the dozens of active enemies and asteroids on screen. Minuses: *– [Real player with 1.6 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198210253252)* Unworking piece of trash. The game plain doesn't work, it's still not initializing after 5 minutes, then I see my cursor ( lagging like hell ) then nothing. Has to kill it with the task manager and it generate over twenty error report fo windows. At the start the game even ask for special access to the firewall. Avoid this thing at all cost. *– [Real player with 0.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198032265427)* --- ![Armoured Onslaught](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1236000/header.jpg "") ## Armoured Onslaught Had a great experience playing this game at EGX 2019 and I have been keeping an eye out for this game ever since. The game is fantastic! This is my first tower defence game ever and it is a great intro to the genre. I have a great time playing this game and time goes by quickly as it can be very addictive. Killer soundtrack too, really fits in well with the game could turn you into a BEAST! *– [Real player with 11.6 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198119568672)* It's not awful but not great either. Mines also count as towers… which is dumb since you have a tower limit number next to a mine limit number. The difficulty is wack as fuck. Love TD and have played and beaten all TD games that arent garbage but in this game shit happens and nothing fucking nothing you can do about it... Support shield tower is total shit as you can't put towers even close to each other. Game feels incomplete. I want to recommend but not yet. Had lots of fun with it. *– [Real player with 8.0 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198062590730)* It's a space shooter, you control a spaceship and shoot! Protect your base by shooting everything, except your friends if you have them because this is a multiplayer game as well, shoot together! https://youtu.be/pNtXPKY4cco *– [Real player with 5.6 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198121398682)* --- ![VERSUS SQUAD](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/471330/header.jpg "") ## VERSUS SQUAD I'm big fan of Shoot ''em up with Twin Stick Shooter. I've played them since my childhood. My favorite games was Alien Phobia series (1, 2 and 3) and Crimsonland. Nation Red was like Crimsonland but just much better in every way possible. This could be called sequal for it since it's made by same guy. Versus Squad is game which is made by one guy who listens players. Even though this is not in early access game is ever evolving. New thing come from time to time. If you don't believe me check recent updates! *– [Real player with 82.7 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197972261037)* ### Versus Squad: An addiction in a nutshell. I bought Versus Squad during the summer sale with the notion that it would be a “fun 4 dollar game”, but it turned out to be a lot more than that. Versus Squad is one of those games that can easily become an addiction. From the outside looking in the game might seem repetitively simple. “Build Here. Kill Here. Die Here.”, is how games like this normally are and once you establish that the game can become stagnant fast. Versus Squad isn't like that. While this game isn't overly complex it does have enough complexity to keep you playing. *– [Real player with 32.2 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198006894941)* ---
