AMazing TD

AMazing TD

Honestly the game has some work that needs to be done to it but if your looking for a classic starcraft td outside of starcraft this isn’t a bad start. It’s still in early access so there are obviously problems/unfinished parts of it but I think its a great start and already currently gets me on a almost once a day to get my dailies and try the new maps. With a little balance and a little more depth this would be a solid td

Things I would add/change:

  • The upgrades curve doesn’t seem balanced to me, I always get to a certain point and feel like its just a waste unless there is no room left to build new towers.

I’d like to preface this review by saying it was written while the game was in Early Access and that fact was taken into consideration while writing this. AMazing TD is an interesting take on the Tower Defense genre. It reminds me of the Tower Defense (TD) games I used to play as custom games in Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2. It probably reminds me of that because it is a standalone spiritual successor of a Starcraft 2 map I had played previously called Entropy TD.

It’s a deceptively simple appearing Tower Defense game. You build living statues as your towers and they deal with the various waves of enemies. The longer you can keep enemies from exiting the map, the more likely you are to eliminate them. Building a maze and well placed, properly upgraded towers is the key to victory in these sorts of games. AMazing TD goes beyond the basics by also having power fields on the play field that modify the game in some way. Fields that slow, speed up and teleport the enemies, increase the range or damage of your towers or even offering you extra gold are some of the field effects to watch out for when planning your maze.

Guardian Chronicle

Guardian Chronicle

Chronically addictive tower defence!

An easy recommendation to fans of tower defence games.

✅ Engaging game play.

✅ Varied ‘towers’.

❌ Very limited maps per season.

❌ Balancing issues.

❌ No single player content.

As a tower defence fan I can safely say that Guardian Chronicles dug it’s claws in to me deep!

The core game play involves you choosing a roster of guardians that act as towers, each with their own skills and abilities and placing them on select tiles to thwart waves of enemies.

What makes Guardian Chronicles interesting and engaging is the merge system. To get more powerful towers you have to replace two matching towers of the same level together. The spanner in the works however, is the towers are drawn randomly from your pool of selected heroes but you see the next five draws allowing you to plan ahead. coupled with tower abilities based on positioning this helps keep games engaging from start to finish.

Pros: Its a fun tower defense game with pve/pvp content. There are many deck combinations to use. Its very fun to play to kill time. Its not very toxic either

Cons: It is pay to win you will lose to someone who is dropping money. Later in game progression is much slower when you try leveling up your cards. Example at you will need 4000 cards of a specific card just to level it up and it will cost an absurd amount of in game gold

Despite the cons its very fun to play if your playing casually. You can earn alot of gold if you do well in the pve and pvp part of the game. Events change every often giving you great chances to earn rewards for free. Not much you can do about p2w players you will lose until you’ve put int enough time to get at least 3 cards to max level and use a proper deck but its very easy to pick up. I play this game casually i just do the dailies and events and log out. So far iv enjoyed myself so if you have nothing better to do or want something to play in the backround while you do other things like watching a movie or something idk then give this game a shot it wont hurt you. I wouldnt put money into it though

Most towers are manually fired, which is fine in and of itself. however, the basic tower requires button mashing to fire at a vaguely reasonable rate, and when you’re firing you can’t run around collecting coins. When you’re running around collecting coins, you can’t fire. The flamethrower tower can fire just by being held down, which is fine, but it’s very short range, so it’s not usable as a front line of defense. May be more fun with multiplayer, since one of you could be collecting coins while the other shoots, and you can double up on shooting when you’re close to losing. The button mashing killed the game for me.

Neat concept and all the characters explore different playstyles. Soundtrack is a big standout, it’s great!

Having played long enough to unlock all the gods, the strategy feels a little too minion-focused at time of review. None of the god abilities buff towers- only disabling or destroying them. Most abilities either damage or buff units already on the board, or summon a super powerful unit. I can reliably win games without building a single structure, and I would like to see the balance shift a bit towards building to really lean into the tower-defense aspect.

Alright quick review under 2 hours played. It’s a FAST paced tower defense with all controls done through the mouse. That brings me to what I dislike so far. Tower defense is cool and all but when I have to hold a mouse button down then select a defense/offense/power by sliding the mouse then placement after that. It’s just not intuitive. It should be abilities and units are selected with the keyboard and placement is through the mouse. That would allow the player to place units and abilities WAY faster.

Toy Soldiers: HD

In brief - A brilliant WW1 diorama-styled tower defence game with weapon ballistics instead of DPS calculators, unpredictable AI pathing, destructible environments and the ability for the player to control turrets or vehicles.

If you only played the WW1 content in “Toy Soldiers Complete” you should know that ported content was a buggy mess and was NOT faithful to the original Toy Soldiers. If you’re on the fence about paying full price for this remake, the original game is cheaper and still well worth playing!

Bloons TD Battles 2

After giving the game even longer time than before I can safely say that this game is not worth playing for new players at the moment. I bought VIP in hopes that the xp leveling system would be decent, but no. Not even close. Ive spent the last 7 hours of my time playing with just the same tower over and over again, and I still need to unlock 2 more tier 4s and all 3 tier 5s. And I used that tower as my main tower.

Ive played for 27 hours so far, and I have 1 tier 5 in total… 1! And ofc that is for the one and only tack shooter. The most broken and unbalanced tower in the game. If you dont use it then be prepared for a way harder game than if you did.

Edit; Ninja Kiwi rewoke the XP system literally one day later. Thank you Ninja Kiwi for actually listening to the community feedback! Also thank you everyone for the free steam points, now I can buy more anime girl profile pictures!

BTD Battles 2 can now finally be the great successor of BTD Battles 1 as I wanted it to be. I’d like to list a few things that I really do enjoy in this game since I was so hard on them before the XP table buff.

  • Graphics and art style is on point. I haven’t really played BTD 6 since I’ve always been so invested in BTD Batles 1. The graphics and art style are very refreshing for me and I tip my beanie to NK.

Legion TD 2 - Multiplayer Tower Defense

Legion TD 2 - Multiplayer Tower Defense

Awesome multiplayer auto-battler, with a thriving, generally nice community, and ongoing development!

Stop waves of enemies!

In Legion TD 2 (LTD) you have to stop enemies that spawn in waves on your ‘lane’. The enemies give a bounty for each kill, and with that gold you can buy new fighters in between the waves. The game gives a recommended value of your fighters for each wave consisting of the total possible value that comes spawning. Depending on the type of units you have put on your lane with all their synergies and positioning, this value can be either too high or too low. For instance, a collection of only tanks (units that soak damage well, but don’t deal much themselves) will probably not clear a wave.

Plays just like the original WC3 map + much, much more, for anyone who is a fan of tower defense, multiplayer/co-op and strategy games, will definitely love this, for the developer AAG i can’t wait to see the extra campaign maps as well as potential dlc content perhaps something event based like a new boss (similar to btd6 like the bloonarius events) or endless mode with different waves to see how long you and a friend or 7 other friends can survive, there is so much potential and i cant wait to see it unfold , but as it is for its price, its well deserved of its positive reviews and again if you’re even remotely thinking of purchasing this game, as Shia LaBeouf would say, “just do it”, you will not regret it.

Scrapshoot

Scrapshoot

Scrapshoot is the true definition of a party game. While the AI is fun to battle against the game becomes a blast when you get your friends involved. I think this is the kind of game you hop on occasionally and end up sinking hours of fun into it. Super easy to learn, a variety of hat options, and the unique match modifiers offer a lot in variation of gameplay from round to round.

Don’t let this game go under your radar! I’d give it 9 scraps out of 10; super excited to see what the devs whip up in future updates!
