Iron Brigade

Iron Brigade

Tl;dr: Iron Brigade is a cheesy, dieselpunk themed, cooperative tower defense game. The only problems with it are slightly dated menus and a low player count.

Behind this is a very playful, tongue-in-cheek style of humour that strives for “Rated ‘M’ for ‘MANLY’” in a dieselpunk world changed by the coming of cable television, and enormous mechanized walkers - the Mobile Trenches.

“Turn no-mans-land into REAL-MANS-LAND!”

You get to pilot one of the afor-mentioned walkers, taking to the field personally to defend objectives against terrors of screens, wires and other components besides to prevent the CRT-based ‘Tubes’ from conquering the world. Your walker can be personalized with a variety of interesting, fun, and sometimes downright wacky weaponry and abilities that lets you dominate the field. From small, fast ranging scouts, to lumbering mobile turrets, you are not defenseless in the least, and can take the fight to the Tubes, up close and personal!

This game is from 2011/2012, but it feels like brand new. I quickly snatched it on discount for under $4 during the 2015 mid year sale. Definitely worth more than that!

It’s a wonderful coop experience. I’ll never forget all the times the game crashed with authentication state error on each start-up when organising a game with sauce and trash. We’d all go crazy, revalidating Steam cache files, restarting Steam, restarting the PC. In some cases the game would crash sauce’s PC. trash and I would be like, “sauce you still there?” as we watch his Mumble name disappear off the screen a few seconds later in dismay.

So far so awesome! A difficult challenge that is to be sure, but that’s sort of what makes it as fun as it is! I’ve gotten MANY hours in this game and finally decided to sit down and tell people they need to play this. The developer is constantly working on fixing problems that arise and I’ve found more than one bug that had been corrected fairly quickly. It’s a fun take on the tower defense genre, the bullets have a nice hard punch sound, the mechs look pretty cool (and i love mechs) the Kaiju’s all have fun and interesting designs. The art is well done, the music is top knotch and harkens back to the old days of red alert. It’s hard for me to put into words everything I really enjoy about this game. I’m not a shill either, I’ve searched for things to say I dislike about the game, I always try to search for things I dislike so I don’t come off as some sort of fanboy and the only thing I can say is… sometimes it’s a little TOO hard, but somehow I enjoy that part too.

This game is astonishing, and there is only one way I can describe it, by sharing all the states the game has put me through:

Megastates when you play MVK: DAHFA

-Disbelief: you don’t know what’s happening, everything is going out of control and you don’t know what to do or where the hell to shoot at

-Awareness: You start realizing how satisfying it is to see those destroyed Kaijus, you start being aware of your battle material and things start making sense.

-Happiness: Missions are getting better and better, as well as you, my friend. Your weapon choice becomes excelent, your mistakes in the past are now your best weapons and you realize you are a strategy lover

Armed to the Gears

Armed to the Gears

Armed to the Gears:

It all started with the discovery of the Neutronium base element from a deep excavation in 2029, somewhere near a place named Main City. Neutrium turns out to be a powerful new energy that can be used to power batteries and equipment for hundreds of years. This type of energy is always useful for military purposes, and the countries that have access to the Neutrium start a race to develop the ultimate automated warfare unit. The citizens of the world take to the streets to raise their concerns, but the world turns to chaos, leading to the rise of three terrible factions. The worst of the three, the Ministry, wins the race and now controls the world with these ultimate machines of war. That is, until a rebellion of hackers plans to use the machines against the Ministry. It’s going to be Armed to the Gears!

--- Don't get me wrong with this review, I DID have fun… but there are several things wrong with this game. That being said... i only had like 5.5 hrs ACTUAL time played on campaign..... watched a movie with the wife and went to get more beer while the game was still running. (New Predator movie rocks btw). This game does not suck. I know it is in alpha. I want to like this game more, byt they have a lot of work to do _Upgrading is confusing at first.. I feel it should be seperated from the turret menu_ *– [Real player with 8.0 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197995840361)* --- ![Sierra Ops - Space Strategy Visual Novel](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/364210/header.jpg "") ## Sierra Ops - Space Strategy Visual Novel Update after episode 2 This first episode is good but also very very very short. Might be one of the shortest I ever tried. It has an interesting sci-fi setting and introduces the characters but doesnt let you get to know them since you barely get a few lines. It also makes use of flash backs as the main characters clearly has mental wound attached to past incidents. Battle system is ok and unusual for a VN but not too hard to figure it out. The design of characters seems to fit a game like this quite well. Overall it got me interested to see next episode and decide if its good enough to get the season pass. *– [Real player with 42.2 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198036144052)* I won't lie, this barely tips the needle into recommend rather than neutral. Sierra Ops is basically a visual novel with a light fleet command and time management mechanic attached to it. I think the issue I have with it is that none of the component parts of terribly good. They aren't BAD, but in trying to cram all of that in here they've cut a few corners on each section. Battles are a mixed bag of good, bad, and frustrating. I like a lot of things there but you have to go through so much story to get to them… and when it turns out they're one the token five minutes and done type battles that can be frustrating. Not to mention the difficulties of introducing various new mechanics and ideas with that pacing. There's a similar problem with upgrading your ship, by the end of chapter 2 there's still not that much to choose yet. On the visual novel side the story is... it has potential but I don't want to give it too much praise or condemnation yet. It's not completely sold me so far, in either plot or execution, but I have to admit there are some good foundations here and it could make me eat those words in future chapters. *– [Real player with 36.2 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198006795437)* --- ![War Beasts](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1706670/header.jpg "") ## War Beasts ⚖️ Grade = B-. Worth a buy, if you enjoy sit and relax to watch the outcome. However, if you're looking for busy management after complete setup, it isn't play that way ### EXPECTATION CHECKLIST: ✔️ Tower management ✔️ Variety of towers ✔️ Variety of units ✔️ Everything unlocked at the beginning ✔️ Build wave of attackers armies ❌ Campaign mode to learn about tower ❌ Passive Skills ❌ Urgent aids when needed ❌ Variety of location ❌ Fast Forward | GRADE | *– [Real player with 5.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198087794419)* 20210819: Tried and it's not bad. Though there is no guidance, you could figure out the way to play this game quite soon. But I do recommend the developer to add tower, skill and user interface introductions into this game, maybe a manual button in the setting menu. Cannot sell or fix buff tower is kinda annoying and the money quickly becomes useless during the late game play even in second stage. Finding and clicking each resource tower to collect coins periodically does not give player a comfort experience, especially when you cannot move these separated towers. A collect-all button may be a good approach. *– [Real player with 2.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198101835449)* --- ![Space Grid Tournament](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1503160/header.jpg "") ## Space Grid Tournament ![](https://media.st.dl.pinyuncloud.com/steam/apps/1503160/extras/GIF_Announcement.gif?t=1623914388) Take part in Space Grid Tournament, the most spectacular sport of the future, where giant robots fight to take control of the field and crush the opponent down. The game is fantastic! This is my first tower defence game ever and it is a great intro to the genre. I have a great time playing this game and time goes by quickly as it can be very addictive. Killer soundtrack too, really fits in well with the game could turn you into a BEAST! *– [Real player with 11.6 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198119568672)* It's not awful but not great either. Mines also count as towers… which is dumb since you have a tower limit number next to a mine limit number. The difficulty is wack as fuck. Love TD and have played and beaten all TD games that arent garbage but in this game shit happens and nothing fucking nothing you can do about it... Support shield tower is total shit as you can't put towers even close to each other. Game feels incomplete. I want to recommend but not yet. Loved the difficulty, but if you going to master some earlier levels without upgrades, you may become too tough for later ones. It may ruin a challenge. Upgrade system is a bit too intricate. But maybe it's just me. Always a pleasure to find a "gem of a game" of it's price category. Definitely recommended. *– [Real player with 26.4 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198005955224)* So I got this game because my visa card wasn't working on some other site so I went to the last page in the specials and got this for 75 cents to test my card. My card worked! Fun game. Standard tower defence, little glitchy, crashes a bit, (might be on me for not upgrading my 2070 super) no option to turn sound or music down, either muted or full volume. The red thingy you're defending and be picked up and moved by enemies and they drop I when they die. Really tests your gamer skill having to charge your set up on the fly. something something i only wrote this review cuz i thought it was funny how i got it what ever who cares gg *– [Real player with 13.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199064649708)* --- ![Tyfortress: Tactical Typing](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1661700/header.jpg "") ## Tyfortress: Tactical Typing This is an excellent typing game.
