Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault
I love this game, it’s a great and fun spin on tower defense and it kills me to have to leave it negative review, however Aksys leaves me little choice. They have a dead/unmonitored fake customer support email that as of this review has been nearly 1 and a half months since I requested help and if they were aware of the PC issues of this port,to get absolutely no response whatsoever.
I contacted Steam to get a try to flush your cache etc. did all that still no fix, steams final answer, “we apologize but since valve didn’t make it there’s nothing we can do.”

Wow, just WOW. This game is somewhat of a hidden gem in my opinion. Aegis of Earth is a tower defense game originally made on the PS2. And rereleased onto Steam. I never played the original so I can’t render an opinion on it, but overall I would assume nothing has changed. The entire point of the game is to defend your cities from these giant creatures called the Protonovus, but everyone just calls them ‘the enemy’.
As the game progresses you get more cities and more command units to control (up to 3 of each of the 6 types) that you need to rotate between. But the games biggest bonus is in fact the dialogue. This game has one of the best scripts that I’ve seen in a while, and a surprise twist at the end so big even I didn’t see it coming that well. The ending itsself is a bit lackluster, and some questions remain unanswered but the story itsself is easily grade A material… Except during the end of the game where you have to make a Large powerplant in all 5 cities requiring 5 colorless crystals and then some which honestly takes a bit too long to accomplish I was stuck on that portion for over 2 days.

Winged Sakura: Mindy’s Arc
Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Looks like some dumb anime game, right? I can’t actually be recommending it. Well, I totally is, and I am.
First of all, if you don’t have a tolerance for this kind of thing, I’d check out right now, because Winged Sakura is pretty much exactly the kind of game you’d expect from that title. It’s pretty much unironic about that, which had a certain silly charm to me, but obviously not for everyone. You play as Mindy, a young mage, and her Sakura Minzy - basically a spirit partner. They find themselves stuck in a building, and have no memory of how or why they’re here. To find out, you’ll need to head through four areas of twelve stages each, defending the place from attacks. Objectively the story is kinda bad; it often brings up new plot elements out of nowhere, all the characters are pretty one-note, and there’s a lot of it.

Winged Sakura: Mindy’s Arc is probably not the best tower defense ever made, but it’s different enough from the standard td to be worth checking out, and it’s pretty fun too.
The key element of this game is that the spirits you summon to fight only last a few seconds, so you can never reach a state where you have all your defences ready and you simply need to watch as the level ends, instead you’re in constant need to keep summoning your spirits in order to survive, making it more fast paced.
Your spirits can level up and equip a weapon and an accessory, while the levelling up is quite basic and the best way to do it is simply progressing through the story, for the equipment you have to manage your resources and craft or buy items to level said equipment up and you have quite a good selection of accessories you can equip.

After a little messing around with my antivirus and telling it to go um.. F. off with a bit of help from the developer, finally had a chance to get a thorough look into this game.
First, the graphics aren’t anything to write home about. It is a standard RPG Maker game, and I can’t tell if its using stock assets or not (I’ve not toyed around with this version of RPG Maker). Despite this, it does use them well for what its worth for a tower defense type of game.

Gensokyo Defenders
Basically Touhou version of Dungeon Defenders, except you play as majority your favourite characters as you progressed through the story. Each character possesses unique uses and abilities. For example: Aya is mostly used for levels that has lots of water, Okuu for crowd control, etc. However, some characters also have cons applied to them. For example Okuu’s attack is strong, but in exchange it will damage your traps forcing you to take big risks. Another example is Mokou’s, Mokou can buff her attacks and heal herself, but in exchange for either her own health, or your bases health therefore forcing you to only use her skills for emergencies only. Voice acting is great with translations. Music is beautiful as always like any other Touhou games, fan made or not. If you are the type of person that likes both Touhou and tower defense games, then this game is for you.

Gensokyo Defenders is a fun tower defense-esque game.
Gameplay is smooth, controls feel natural and are easy to learn. The game also has surprisingly high amount of content and re-playability. As is fitting for a Touhou fan game, the soundtrack is awesome. Some rearranges of classic Touhou songs are really good! The sounds are otherwise good too. The story is fun.
The co-op mode brings a whole extra-layer of fun to the game and enables many cool new tactics.
A truly well done Touhou doujin game!

One of the best TD games I played for sure!
It’s easy going, it has elements I’ve never seen in any other TD game (like the genius alliances), gives the game a whole new meaning and fun, I also love the upgrades in and out of the levels, the whole theme is fun, the characters (towers) and their looks are awesome, I simply love it.
Hope you guys are planning to keep updating the game with more towers, powers ups and such!

Exorcised is a newly released Tower Defense game.
The game is set in a Japanese fantasy world, with many versions of Japanese females clothed in cultural Japanese style as the towers, and with demons as the enemies, no story or known plot in the game, so lets move on.
The game is pretty straight forward, like many other Tower Defense games, the enemy move on a fixed path from one side to the other and you, as the player, need to place those sexy female towers to eliminate them.
There are several kinds of towers, each with somewhat different stats and characteristics which could be upgraded later on, and some different enemy types and bosses.

While the art is cute the gameplay is repetitive. English translation is minimal. There are no settings (audio, visual)to adjust the game so i hope you enjoy guitar and flute on a loop blaring in your ears.

As a lover of Dragon Ball, I really enjoyed playing Ultimate Wall Defense Force!
It’s an anime style tower defense game, and your main goal is to defeat all of the enemies before they destroy your tower. You play as a powerful character with several abilities to defend waves and waves of enemies. I found flying around to be super fun, and the large number of abilities to use to kill your enemies really nail the power fantasy of what it would be like to be Goku.
There are even boss encounters after each level which I found very engaging and challenging.
