Shadowgrounds
Hi, everybody. I played this game ‘round 5 hours, killed first boss (2 lvls finished) and so what I got about it:
What’s good:
-
Free Camera. It’s really comfortable. If you turn it on, of course
-
Gameplay. So it’s good and not so good meanwhile. About bad sides of that I’ll tell later, but right now: it’s not complicated too much and it’s easy enough. You are not needed to pick “right weapon” to kill special enemy, Kill ‘em with any thing you like ;-)
-
Not too complicated plot. On first view, it’s a real bad, but if you’ll look at the game like Alien Shooter clone, so that’s enough =)

This is an old top down shooter game so there maybe glitches and bugs running this on modern machine.
First of all, the most annoying part of the game is 6 out of 10 run it will gives an error saying “Failed to find Steam”.. the devs know of this problem but said “It’s Steam’s problem not ours.” Yeah, this is the only game i played having this problem so yes, you’re expecting us to believe that. The problem here is the game is having trouble getting the path to our installed steam folder. Especially those who didn’t install steam on their main drive.

It’s time to get out from the solar system
This is an extremely low quality vertical scrolling arcade shootemup/bullet hell game. The objective is to fight through waves of enemies, perform limited ship upgrades, and eventually escape the solar system.
While the quality here is very low, the developer didn’t use retro pixel graphics, which makes this immediately better than thousands of games on Steam. The game runs properly in fullscreen and even supports 4K graphics, again better than thousands of games on Steam. The downsides, however, are significant. The graphics are of very low quality and bad to look at. The controls are lethargic and the ship moves like a slug. The translation is too terrible to make the story digestible. It’s just not fun. And what’s with the unskippable intro that replays when you die and goes on for an eternity?

Back in 2014 this was not the worst shoot em’ up on steam for under 5$. It it still not the worst shoot em’ up on steam in 2020. There is plenty of other shoot em' ups this generation for the same price. This game is lacking content compared to todays shoot em' up and this game is no longer being updated or supported. So if you are looking for e decently fun game for about this price, this is fine but keep looking they is alot more out there.

Halo: Spartan Assault
I’d say that this was a good run. It really made me spend some hours into this game, especially as a Halo fan.
Halo: Spartan Assault is a Top-Down Shooter that is a “prequel?” to Halo: Spartan Strike, and as noticed by the gameplay, it is significantly different from all the other Halo First Person Shooters you all know in love. But it is still considered a Halo game in my standards and it definitely deserves some recognition.
As with the story, you play as the characters that are seen in Halo 4, Spartan Palmer and Spartan Davis. As it takes place before the events of Halo 4, you’re met with a series of missions in each specific Operation. There are 5 missions in each Operation and there are a total of 6 Operations altogether. Depending on your pacing of the game, it may take you less than a day up to a couple of days at the most to complete this game, depending if you’re getting the achievements or not.

Tl’dr version:
**A fun and responsive top down shooter. Bizarre design choices and a weak story does not stop me whole heartedly recommending this game to anyone who likes this kind of thing. If you’re a Halo fan you probably already own this. I would however advise buying this on a sale if you can help it as the games replay value is limited.
Now if MS would hurry up and get Halo over here on pc, that would be nice.**
Elaborated version:
Halo Spartan Assault is a isometric top down shooter brought to you by ‘Vanguard games’, who holds reasonable pedigree, as they made the well received title ‘Gattling Gears’, another top down shooter.

Halo: Spartan Strike
Like its predecessor “Spartan Assualt”, the game is a from above “twin stick” shooter spin-off Halo game.
As mentioned in that review I recommend playing it with a Xbox-360/One Controller.
The story line is about palying as a Spartan/s, denying the enemies the conquest of Earth.
Now you will start to face the Prometheans, the enemies introduced in “Halo 4” and the graphics and overall game experience has improved with this installment.
There are still 30 missions, but the side-missions (still 3 per level) are now displayed with the start of each mission and if you replay the mission you can even track the progress towards each mission. This is a great improvement and the grind missions are fewer, but still some annoying ones. Overall I also felt that the difficulty was lower in this game eventhough I excpect theme to finish in about the same time. You can also make things easier by buying “perks-per mission”( do not remember what they are called) increasing damage or score awarded etc. This is really helpful for achieving some of the harder gold medals.

MENOS: PSI-SHATTER
The Game has great potential. It is lagging sometimes. But the developer is so proactive. He is releasing updates on time to time basis. I loved the game very very much.

This game is very dry.
Levels are undetailed. There’s only three enemies: pistol guard, submachinegun guard, and shotgun guard (this one is bald, that’s how much difference there is). You have three actions: fire weapon, telekinesis, and look ahead. Technically there’s also walking, but that’s useless and best left never used. Your character could win an award for most generic video game protagonist ever. There’s not much decor or interaction, beside breakable desks, black bottomless pits, exploding cylindrical tanks on some levels, and shattering glass, which the game author seems to have fallen in love with.

Space Avenger – Empire of Nexx
This is a very great game i feel i am quite satisfied with it. i have completed the full game but i wish there could be much more planets avalible, much more upgrades and a far deeper game since when you are done with 8 planets its over. but its a very nice game and great music wish and hope there can be updates so it will be bigger deeper and better.

Got a key from a Giveaway
Early time with Space Avenger is pretty good. It started out a little slow but once you get some upgrades and get going it is pretty fun. It is all about the upgrades in this one. You will be repeating missions to earn more currency to buy more upgrades which will allow you to get further into the game. There seems to be quite a lot of missions here and a casual story to keep things moving.
Only draw back so for is keyboard only controls. (not sure about a controllers) but no mouse controls what so ever. This game could be even more fun with the classic “wasd” movement and mouse shooting. Because it is keyboard only there is an auto targeting system and a lot of times it will target an enemy your are not necessarily shooting for. I have not been able to figure out how to change targets manually. I really hope they will add mouse controls.

Trident’s Wake
Wonderful cooperative action game, I have had many hours of fun frying aliens with friends, customizing my sentinels, unlocking special abilities and improving my weapons.
The game is in early access and I assumed that it could have many bugs, but after play it on a friend’s PC, I saw that it is perfectly playable and I loved it. I bought it last week and I have played around 30 hours (be careful guys, it’s really powerful).
The sounds of the shots are wonderfully well done and the lighting is well enough adapted to generate some suspense and mystery but allowing fluid combats.
– Real player with 114.4 hrs in game
I’m recommending this game because on the base level, the game is playable and easy to pick up and play, however the game has been left in a bit of a broken state and is no longer supported by the dev team according to their discord , so any glitches, bugs or texture issues you may come across while playing the game may not be fixed or patched in the future.
That said, the game is a simple twin-stick shooter where you play as a Robotic soldier called a “Sentinel” tasked with clearing out the “Trident”, a type of “ark” that holds human embryos and Humanity’s last hope for survival amidst an alien invasion. you can play solo or with a group of 4 to fight through and take back control of 4 different sectors on the ship before moving on to the final “Strike Back” phase where you activate the Trident’s defense turrets and fight off the alien attackers.

Alpha One
In Alpha One you awaken from bio-stasis alone in an uncharted region of the galaxy. Aboard the United Colony Ship Alpha, you were part of an interstellar expedition gone wrong. To survive it was necessary to deploy the colony ship into station mode and outfit a space capsule with the ability to collect resources. After discovering a strange, crystalline substance, it allowed you to create an experimental jump drive that you hope one day can get you home to Earth.
With your limited jump-drive capabilities, you explore the region and find out there are many types of resources with the potential to build and unlock new technologies. However, you quickly learn you have an adversary. You meet an intelligent life-form pursuing those same resources and they see your very existence as a threat!
Find a way to control these systems, defend them, harvest and use them to research technology. It’s a race for you to defeat the enemy or stay alive until you can find a way home.
What you do in Alpha One:
GATHER RESOURCES
-
Classic Newtonian physics; thrust in one direction, spin your capsule to angle your trajectory
-
Harvest resources with your space capsule
-
Use resources to build, repair and research
SPACE COMBAT
- Compete for resources in dogfights with hostile NPC ships (and escape if you have to!)
EXPAND TERRITORIES
-
Each star system is a level that you have to clear in order to claim and deploy automated outposts (your opponent will do the same)
-
Outposts will collect resources from the system they inhabit
DEFEND OUTPOSTS
-
Defend your outposts, with your ship or leave it up to automated Gunship Defenders
-
Build and strategically deploy Gunships Defenders on the map to protect your economy
RESOURCES
- Strategically expand by deploying outposts to systems with resources that counter your opponent!
- Use each resource for its own line of weapons and defense
COUNTER THE ENEMY
-
Research tech to defend the enemy’s weapons
-
Create weapons that your opponent can’t defend!
ATTACK ENEMY TERRITORIES
- Attack Enemy outposts to hurt their economy and hinder their ability to make repairs, build and research tech
MAPS
-
Play a progression of maps that get progressively harder
-
Includes a map editor to make your own levels
-
or generate your own random map/settings for a custom randomized experience
