Zombie Serial Killer Incident

Zombie Serial Killer Incident

Crim’s Humble Opinion Curator

Zombie Serial Killer Incident is a decent enough indie clicking shooter. It has a very arcade and I may be pressed to say browser game feel. There are 50 stages that can be played in any order and there are 3 unlockable stages. There are five different characters that run across the screen in the levels. You can’t just shoot whatever you feel like because there is a degree of puzzle mechanics to the shooting. There may be a zombie with a bucket on his head that you can’t shoot so you have to rely on the explosion chain from another zombie kill.

Siphonophore

Siphonophore

I was a beta tester for Siphonophore so I’ll go into a bit more depth about the game.

TL:DR - I enjoyed my time with the game, The gameplay loop is simple and fun, Boss fights are challenging and the game’s story kept me interested while at times a little confused.

Gameplay/Difficulty

You start off with a basic cannon like weapon which you will be using for a majority of the game with new weapons and colour upgrades becoming available once you have defeated each boss. You also have a dash ability that can be used to propel you short or long distances with momentum affecting how far you travel. The creature also has some weapons to deal with enemies and is more useful against the bigger enemies you encounter.

Tip: Hold E and use scroll wheel to enable progress.

So far I don’t think it’s a masterpiece. The gameplay is lacking due to the large number of enemies, important indicators communicated exclusively through the HUD, and near complete lack of distinction between food and foe.

However, it’s worth playing. The aesthetic and sound design are just like in the trailer, and the dialogue while probably thoughtless gibberish is entertaining to read (except in the extended tutorial that entirely misses the core issue).

Made by an indie developer who wanted to create a commercial game in a week (or take a game jam game and refine it into a commercial game in a week). Starprey does not disappoint if your looking for a fast paced space dogfighting game. The game has been updated with better controls and extra health since launch which really help with the playability of the game. The controls are unique and the physics based walls make the game a lot different then just a normal space chase kind of game. For the price it is pretty fun game, however it can be difficult and those dang turrets are wayyy to accurate sometimes! 😊

I really enjoyed this game it may be short but it is really challenging. There are some minor things which could be improved like adding the setting to change the resolution. But for the price it is a really great game.

Very casual arcade-style action game with a light puzzle element. Each level is a sky full of enemies, take as many down as possible with one shot from your laser under time pressure.

Graphics - pixel style, simple but cool. Well-detailed ships. Smooth special effects. Good use of color and design overall.

Sound - amazing. music changes depending on how good your shot is. Memorable sound design overall, will stick with me.

Controls - too simple to critique. Some controller support which works well enough but it probably functions best overall with a mouse. FWIW i cranked my DPI way up because the laser aims very slowly. Not sure if it made a difference. The controls are simple but the overall experience of doing the thing you do (being the death star, basically) is exciting and has good feedback.

OMG Zombies!

OMG Zombies!

This game made me blind in my left eye. No joke.

I discovered OMG Zombies! on the PSP, which only has a screen size of 4.3 inches. I am 47 years old, which means my eyes don’t work as well as they used to. I should have known better. This game is so addictive that I literally spent somewhere in the neighborhood of eight to ten hours playing it. Continuous. I finished the game, deleted my save, finished the game, deleted my save, and kept right on playing. As a result, I had a massive headache, and the inner lining of my left eye separated, as the ophthalmologist put it, “like peeling off a sticker.” My eye filled with thousands of tiny, black dots (which were actually quite beautiful and which, I later was told, was blood inside the eye). It required laser surgery to repair, and I was told to avoid using the eye and not to lift anything. Two weeks later, it separated again (because I was being foolish and started using the PSP again). I told you all of that in order to tell you this: I regret nothing.

Hey everyone and this is my review about the game!

Interface/Menu/Settings

The graphics are okay.

The music is getting annoying and reoetitive after awhile.

Storyline is some what interesting though. It’s very well drawn.

You can play this Fullscreen or Window mode with many resolution sizes!

You can slide the music and sound volume.

You can play this with keyboard and/or mouse. Al though i do not recommend keyboard at all.

About the game.

You have to shoot on a zombie, the zombie will die and they will have a dead animation. Each animation depends on the zombie, So if there is a cop zombie, he will shoot a bullet. if there is a civilian, he will just die, if there is a runner, well i think he will run first and then explode around him. There are medals in the game “Bronze, Silver, Gold and platinum”. The more zombies you are to kill the better your chances are to get a medal. A higher medal will also unlock more levels and a more cash.

INVERSUS Deluxe

INVERSUS Deluxe

This game is what arcade games strive to be: easy to learn, but difficult to master. This super simple eight button control setup takes seconds for any veteran game to figure out and even someone new to games should be able to understand it in under a minute. Four buttons to move, four buttons to shoot. What could be easier? While each map starts out nice and easy with some slow enemies that aren’t very harmful, the pace picks up fairly quickly, introducing faster and more complicated enemies. With the chain-combo and hit streak mechanics, this is both a blessing and a curse. The game rewards you for pulling off risky maneuvers, but itsn’t going to hand you lots of opportunities for easy points. I keep finding myself backing into a corner trying to lure large groups of basic enemies together to get one large combo just to get hit from behind by a newly-spawned enemy from a spot I just wasn’t paying enough attention to. After that, I have to fight to take back any chunk of the map I can so that I’m not locked into a tiny space and picked off easily by even the most basic enemies.

Wow i got to play this at pax east and it was a lot of fun. Playing that again i feel like its even more polished and awesome now! They managed to make the single player REALLY enjoyable for high score chasers like myself cant wait to dive back in. I also got to dive into some multiplayer which i was really excited for. Someone named Gongon poped into my game and we went back and forth at it for about an hour stright !!! keep in mind matches last what, maybe 2 minutes or so ? so you can do the math how many matches we played ! You can tell after a while we were both playing mind games and trying different strats on each other, what a blast.

Loving the old school arcade vibes of this one, but with hidden depths you’ll discover as you play. I was genuinely pleased to get a score that wasn’t a negative! Recommend if you’re old enough to have played the originals, or young enough to have only seen arcade games on your mobile phone.

The Happy Little Virus

The Happy Little Virus

Disclaimer: A copy of this game was provided by the developer.

The Happy Little Virus is a top down shooter with dark humor.

You play as a virus and the objective in every level is to steal the data. Killing all the enemies isn’t required as you can sometimes rush around them. There are a total of 6 weapons to be unlocked, but only 3 of them end up being relevant due to their range and one of them sometimes bugs out. Some levels feature replicators that spawns other viruses that count as extra lifes if you die, they can be told to follow, stay or you can swap to them.

I got this game for free to show it to my community on stream. At first I was very skeptical however we had great fun. I have not played the complete game until the end so I cannot judge how the story would end and how many maps you would have to beat.

What to expect from the game?

A top down shooter with a cynical story plot and several details in text which could actually be out of real life if you think about it. You have to get used to the controls and it is certainly not a game where you can just rush through every map even if you are tempted to do that.
