GORSD

GORSD

Not many games attempt to fit into those “Painting” domination games, and with the somewhat recent release of Splatoon, it’d be a daring task to try to find another innovation of this obscure genre. However, GoRSD exceeds this goal with flying colors. This action packed puzzle has gotten me at the edge of my seat with its extremely intense gameplay and proves to be an excellent challenge for its players. When you finally finish that level or boss map, its soothing soundtrack and beautiful pixelated environments acts as a nice contrast for you to regain your footing and trek it to the next course. Multiplayer begins in absolute chaos, yet settles once the easy to learn mechanics are mastered by you and your peers. A few fixes could be done, but since this is a new release, there is plenty of time for polish. All in all, GoRSD has been an amazing purchase and I can’t wait for my next multiplayer matchup.

I really like the game. The farther you get into the game the quicker you have to think and the soundtrack is really good! Great if you want a fast-paced puzzle game

Features

  • Do battle with a variety of weapons, from rifles and pistols to mortars and airstrikes.

  • Hone your skills while winning the war in campaign mode. Progress through dozens of missions across the European theater, alone or co-op with up to 4 players, doing things only an expert marksman can!

  • Play a variety of game types, such as the competitive, tactical Battleground, or the frantic co-op survival mode.

  • Advance through the ranks, and earn medals for your awesome marksmanship and heroic deeds on the battlefield!

  • Local multiplayer for 1-4 players.

and now onto the short review

//Description//

Pixels Guide to Staying Dead is a local top down shooter game with an interesting twist- you must bring your opponents to 0 HP. Use your math skills to determine how to do that.

//Graphics, Sound & Artstyle//

there isn’t much to say about the graphics as it seems like any other pixel type of game. Sound is nice and found myself humming the main theme.

LOVE IT! Played with 3 good friends in a 4 player local vs game. The most fun I’ve had with my friends in a new game in a long time.

Fast paced and quick thinking, every round ended with cheers and laughter as we found new ways to outsmart eachother.

Never a dull moment with friends in this game.

Endless hours of fun!

AT SUNDOWN: Shots in the Dark

AT SUNDOWN: Shots in the Dark

Disclaimer: I played this game a lot during the PC beta (free invite from devs), and just got it for my Switch today (paid myself). On to the review…

Ok so you’ll definitely have fun playing this game with your friends/family, it’s really simple to pick up and have fun with different weapons. If you like Towerfall or Gang Beasts this is similar but with more variety/replayability. You’ll want to own some controllers if you want to play local through steam.

But this game really gets good once you get past the intial learning and get into the M I N D G A M E S. I love playing a unpredictable mix of stealth and speed. Your opponent gets scared that you are sneaking right next to them so they shoot blindly giving away their position. Then when they drop their guard, you rush right at them.

Played the demo of this game at WTFox 2 in 2016, and I loved it. I waited years for it to finally come out, and when it did I bought it immediately. I think the game in its current state is fun, but it’s hard to recommend a game like this with a nonexistent playerbase. Fun for some living room multiplayer, but not much else

Danger Scavenger

Cautiously Recommend–Feels Very Much Unfinished

Stumbled upon this a few days back, wishlisted it and bought it today on a whim really digging the music and look the game has. Sometimes you strike out, sometimes you hit paydirt. This is paydirt, a diamond in the rough that after time can be awesome.

It’s VERY rough around the edges and definitely could use lots more polish but it’s highly addictive and the fun factor is very strong if you can get past the many nuances that hold this game back from being amazing.

I’ve written a fairly neutral preview for this game on Gamer Escape, which you can find here: https://gamerescape.com/2020/06/29/preview-danger-scavenger/ . At that time, the game had just switched from being official release to Early Access to address the user feedback based on the mixed steam reivew score (At Gamer Escape we do not do scored reviews for Early Access games)

Within days, the devs for this game have already gone to work with their stated goal: Make the game more appealing to both the twin-stick shooter fans and the roguelike fans whom both had issues with how these mechanics were combined. They have added “Arcade Mode”, which removes the roguelike permadeath mechanics, but also in this mode, each character starts from a different tower, so you get more of a distinct experience with each character in this mode. While it kind of comes off as just a lowered difficulty setting, it does open the game up to a lot of people who find the punishing nature of the roguelike style more frustrating than fun.

Aces of the Luftwaffe - Squadron

Aces of the Luftwaffe - Squadron

Not z good Shmup.

  • Long loading times

  • The action is hindered by text overlay at times

  • The zoom in zoom out effect adds nothing to gameplay but interfere with the action

  • The whole squadron thing is more a nuisance than anything else4

  • Grindy, you’ll eventually get all upgrade

The first AotL was better as a simple SHMUP, this one is boring

Very fun game. My only complaint is that sometimes with all of the firepower from you and your squadron as well as boss fire, it can be a bit hard to see where you are sometimes. Overall, the challenge is fair in most cases, the voice acting is entertaining and I appreciate how the story looks at both sides of the conflict with the DLC added. I hope to see more in this series!

Mad Devils

Mad Devils

I’ve had an awesome time playing Mad Devils so far! The plot is really interesting and I can’t wait to restart in Inferno Mode. My favourite characters are Chester and Harris so far, and the boss fights are brutal. If you’re a fan of Diablo 3 or Dark Souls, this game definitely scratches that itch. Haven’t hit any bugs so far. Just remember you can use your Blood Shards and XP points in the Pause Menu to upgrade your characters, it’s a lifesaver!

This indie developed game has very faded washed out graphics, repetitive dull combat, no mini-map to show where you are going, no way to rotate the camera, and frame rate issues as well. Camera movement is also sluggish and stuttery, most likely due to the crap Unity engine the game runs on. The game also flashes to the desktop briefly every time a new level is loaded. Your character also seems to get stuck on everything in your path and every level looks the same, taking place mostly in outdoor fields surrounded by lava. A similar game that is MUCH better is Victor Vran. I would much rather play Victor Vran than this game any day.

Rogue Snow is a top-down shooter with light survival and crafting elements. Six months have passed since the Everwinter began. The USA is a near empty wasteland coated in snow. An army of living snowmen known as the Droves roam the land stalking anything with a temperature. They head south using a snow treader, and as the camp’s sole scavenger, it’s up to Douglas to provide for the camp and keep them safe. But a faction of bandits holds the south with a tight grip, and their leader has other plans for Douglas' group.

Drove Mode: Go solo, or bring a friend as you try to survive against 20 waves of snowmen. Scavenge by day, they’ll come for you at night.
