Saturday Morning Rogue

Saturday Morning Rogue is the top-down 2D roguelike where custom crafted weapons are the only way you’re getting out alive. Pick up persistent custom weapons and armor of past players that are now stuck in Saturday morning forever. If you’re going to defeat the villains of each realm and destroy the corporate machine you’ll need to build some serious equipment of your own. Want more damage? do it. Need to push yourself across the map with explosive recoil? Go wild. The power is yours to create terrifying tools of destruction or hilarious weapons that never should have left the toy aisle!

You’ve been sucked into your favorite Saturday morning cartoons and must fight your way through the Hierarchy’s boomer bots in the zaniest bullet-hell challenge this side of Sunday. Thwart the Hierarchy’s plan to steal the power of your imagination and feed the cereal laden action figure printing machine. Start at the bottom and defeat their plot for profit by climbing the ladder and pushing bosses down another rung. It’s time to weaponize imagination!

Features:

  • Create extremely customizable weapons and armor that appear forever in the game, dropping from enemies for other players to use.

  • Every stat is yours to fine-tune. Modify damage, recoil, critical hit rate, and many more to craft the ultimate weapon!

  • Explore twisted procedural levels from the LepreFaun’s playful maze forest to the Boomer’s corporate castle and the Bone Apple King’s dungeon of empty bowls.

Good game. I liked it. I remembered when I was a kid and played that kind of game.

This game appears to be a tribute to the classic Activision game, River Raid. Unfortunately, in trying to modernize the game with added features like a health bar, collectibles, bullet-hell, and side-scrolling, it loses everything that made Carol Shaw’s classic clever and fun. The original game challenged you to survive a gauntlet of ships and planes timed to collide with your plane while you could only bank left-right, speed up, slow down, and shoot one missile at a time, and you could only refuel flying over a tank and lingering as long as possible. The original design was brilliant, unique, and never replicated. The new features make it the same as any other “modern” bullet-hell game with a mediocre implementation, and some backstory scenes that only made me cringe. Instead, I recommend the original Atari emulation, or better yet the Atari 8-bit port that has improved scenery.

Space Scavenger

Space Scavenger

I absolutely love this game. In a nutshell, you are trying to survive four levels of “alternate space” – a normal area, an infected area, a solar-fire area and a robotic area. The thing is, the tiny scavenger ship you start with will never make it but you can “MacGyver” a passible fighting ship off the things you scavenge along the way (or possibly purchase in a shop). This part of the game, crafting the ship, is just as much fun as the actual fighting, trying to figure out how to make everything fit (and yes, if your ship is really huge and unbalanced, it will handle like a truck.

The visuals, the game play, and everything the RedCabin team have added and improved on is amazing! Im so happy I got the chance to talk to the team and ask questions, and learn more about the game itself. These guys deserve all the praise they get when it comes to this game.

Pros: The game has great visuals, handing for both controller and mouse/keyboard, and fun game modes. The game challenges me all the time to do better as everyone who plays is put to the test during the daily challenge. Even the music and sounds are fantastic, and very relaxing to chill to.

Enemy Remains

Enemy Remains

Yelp Rating: 4/5

Graphics: When starting off in the first level, you are greeted with a wonderful, yet gore-filled map with calm, yet unsettling tones. When making your way through the maps, you will be greeted with much more colors that really bring the eerie feeling of the game. As you adventure throughout the map, you will come across other gore scenes, such as animal intestines and mobs.

Gameplay: The concept behind the game is simple. Shooter game, figuring what the hell happened, defeating hostile mobs, along with bosses, which vary if difficulty as you progress. You come across crates filled with loot, traps, explosives, and much more! There are a variety of weapons to use, especially figuring out the best combo for bosses and mob gang-ups.

Enemy remains is your classic top down shooter with various power-ups and weapons found through the game to use at your disposal. It has various traps and enemies which can have extremely variations of attack. The bosses are challenging but not super difficult where it makes you want to quit the game. The mechanical machine you ride in could use some type of attack or two but man can it run stuff over! If you like making monsters suffer this is your game! I have yet to try the multiplayer aspect so this review will be edited.

Siphonophore

Siphonophore

I was a beta tester for Siphonophore so I’ll go into a bit more depth about the game.

TL:DR - I enjoyed my time with the game, The gameplay loop is simple and fun, Boss fights are challenging and the game’s story kept me interested while at times a little confused.

Gameplay/Difficulty

You start off with a basic cannon like weapon which you will be using for a majority of the game with new weapons and colour upgrades becoming available once you have defeated each boss. You also have a dash ability that can be used to propel you short or long distances with momentum affecting how far you travel. The creature also has some weapons to deal with enemies and is more useful against the bigger enemies you encounter.

Tip: Hold E and use scroll wheel to enable progress.

So far I don’t think it’s a masterpiece. The gameplay is lacking due to the large number of enemies, important indicators communicated exclusively through the HUD, and near complete lack of distinction between food and foe.

However, it’s worth playing. The aesthetic and sound design are just like in the trailer, and the dialogue while probably thoughtless gibberish is entertaining to read (except in the extended tutorial that entirely misses the core issue).

The game is good, if you want to have some quick fun and you like bullet hell’s I would recommend this game. I think there are a few draw backs though, there is not a big variety of enemies to fight at least not at the beginning of the game, the enemies very between size which can get annoying because you have to run into one of the enemies and take damage to kill it if you don’t upgrade your range. There is only one song that plays at the start of the game that plays and that’s the song in the video up above. That is pretty much what I had to say about this game, I would like a “damage” or “health” stat but I guess you get stronger and your hp resets when you beat a level, which brings me to my next point. I do like how you can choose to go to the level you died on and try and beat it again but I think that also kinda takes some of the fun away from the game.

Really nice game in which You have to select and take over areas. I’d say that the genre is very simple (I even forgot that this kind of games existed as I played games like this around 10 years ago) but in this game every level feels unique. There’s story mode with 3 stages for each girl and if You want it You can install optional free patch that adds nudity. There’s also arcade mode with global scoreboard which is kinda mid-level difficulty to get top score in because of the score multipliers being bigger with difficulty increased. I’ve got 4th place playing every level on hard but I kept dying on one level so I gave up. The art style is nice and gameplay is satisfying as long as You don’t grind arcade mode for top scores and keep dying in the same level. Difficulty changes include changes to player/enemy movement speed, negative bonuses from boxes and scores multipliers (x1, x2, x4). If You’re aiming for good score the game can be really hard with each level unique mobs movement and attack patterns. Here’s an example of one of the unique bosses

! in one level there’s a guy yelling to his father to stop downloading while he’s playing and the game keeps freezing every few seconds saying “waiting for other players” Girls and bosses have voice acting which is really nice. Overall I recommend buying it on a sale as the story mode is 1-2 hours and not everyone’s gonna grind arcade mode for score. I think I spent too much time doing it as I kept dying many times which resulted in 8 hours of total gameplay until I finally decided to just play it on easy to get the achievements and finish the game.

Great game! Brings back memories of playing the original prototype known as Gals Panic back at selected arcades in the 1990’s. Honestly no one cared back then when a swarm of teens were over the Gals Panic arcade cabinet in the imported arcade wing at the local arcade. Giving this game an adult content rating is a bit strong in my opinion even with the optional complementary adult add on. The complementary adult add on adds nice visuals that are tastefully done. Nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion. I’ve seen much more graphic adult instances in general anime. What is so taboo about showing a adult-cartoon body? However, violence, foul language/profanity, death, and body part decapitation is perfectly normal in the majority of modern video games these days.

Trigonarium

Trigonarium

This is EXCELLENT. I bought it on sale, and would happily pay full price.

I loved Geometry Wars, Waves and countless other 2-stick shooters (also old enough to have loved Asteroids…), but this feels fresh. It’s perfectly polished, and the addition of constant mid-game changes to the arena shape gives you something new to run away from, learn, and sometimes use to your advantage.

No unfair deaths, no easy/lazy ways to grind through levels, no smart bombs, and in challenge mode just one life.

Real player with 13.2 hrs in game

Trigonarium is a very solid twin-stick shooter that has never received the recognition and love it well deserves. If you find the Geometry Wars games to be too fast for you, but you enjoy the mechanics of Super Stardust HD, then this is the game you want to have a go at. Unlike many other titles in the same price bracket, this one appears to have been tested thoroughly: I don’t recall experiencing any bugs whatsoever.

This title is critically underrated and at only three euros it’s an absolute steal. I urge everyone to give it a whirl!
