I’ve had more fun playing this then the whole day of trying to figure out what to play in my Steam Library, it’s a great way to spend $2.95 and keep you entertained/frustrated in between games!

Awesome game! Not too easy that there’s no meaning in progressing, and not too hard that its too unbeatable.

A number of meme-able moments that made me chuckle. 5/7 Great for apes!

Fun and challenging game, definitely worth the price! Recruited my group of friends to play with me, and its even more fun to see whose score is higher :-)

Security Guy vs AI: The Dawn of AI

Security Guy vs AI: The Dawn of AI

“Security Guy vs AI” is a really nice top-down shooting game!

The game is far from be great, but it is good enough for a free game, it is short but with nice graphics. The enemy AI is not very challenging, but I struggle more with the aiming in game, especially with some of the weapons.

But is playable and enjoyable! And best of all, is free… Fully recommend it.

This one is hard. I say yes with some slight reservations. The game is not very optimized. It lags quite a bit, even when you turn the settings down. That being said, it looks good. There is hardly no story, but it is still good what is there. It is very deadly combat, but if you know how to properly shoot (The target is a bit to the right of your actual aim.) it isn’t too hard. It is very short but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Overall I enjoyed it very much. Hopefully once I get a better computer it won’t lag so bad. I haven’t replayed it yet so I will update this review after that to reflect its replay value.

Volatile

Volatile

Set in an alternate future of humanity, Volatile is a top-down space exploration game, full of action, adventure, choices and dire consequences.

You take the role of one of several pilots at the start of a routine escort mission, when catastrophe strikes. The world opens up to let you explore your options in this indie game, which, at its core, is designed around actions and reactions, where consequences from even the most mundane choices have ripples.

Zolg

Zolg

It kinda tries to be a metroidvania in the form of a top-view shmup. There’s only ever one path that leades to progress, though, whereas all the others lead to optional extra max HP, so it isn’t really. This is fine, though. The difficulty is distributed properly, the levels seem to have been made very thoughtfully, and while there are many redundant achievements, I think the most challenging ones are good for adding replayability, if the simple but fun bosses, speedrunable nature of the levels and a certain spazzy enemy type aren’t enough.

Key features

Top-down retro-style twin-stick shooter and dungeon crawler.

Gameplay, technical issues, controller support

Gameplay in itself is pretty decent, you start out with a tiny health bar, slow speed and no shield, and gain abilities as you progress and collect powerups. However, the movement of the avatar never feels ‘natural’ – it is like riding a tank where you can only turn by slowing down the left or right tracks. I consider this game unplayable using keyboards and mouse, you definitively need to use a controller.

Zombie Spectre

Zombie Spectre

The first ever fully Agile Indie game. Released over a year ago on mobile with weekly releases improving and evolving the game incrementally. There’s no game design document. Only a back story. As long as the improvements match the backstory and game mechanics, we’ll add it into the game!

Brief back story:

The world has become overrun by souls originating from earth but entangled with a parallel universe. The cause driven by madness and survival. Defend humanity at all costs.

Action Commando

Action Commando

Action Commando is a Town of Machine spinoff focused entirely on combat. Hub-based world design, inventory management and most of the character interactions have been removed / de-prioritized in favour of fast-paced combat where your only concern is what’s trying to kill you at a given moment. While it lacks the depth of Town of Machine, it works really well as a coffee break, action-packed, top-down shoot’em up. Unlike in its predecessor you don’t have to worry about inventory space and quests - just go forward and blow things up… and it kind of works. The game is pretty short and unfortunately set almost entirely underground which makes the levels blend together but it’s not that big of a deal considering its lenght. Give it a try if you ever feel like mowing down monsters for a few hours.

A well-crafted, action-focused twin stick shooter with a good dose of humour. It’s a spin-off of Town of Machine that’s set in the same universe. While it uses many of the same assets as ToM, it’s more action-orientated and simpler to play.

Made by single person, its production values are excellent - gameplay, graphics, sound: all are top-notch.

It’s worth playing Town of Machine before this, but not wholly necessary.

The more I play this game, the more I enjoy it. Make no mistake, this is old school gaming at its core. Meaning no mercy. You learn through your many mistakes. And somehow you get better. You finally beat the game. But you look back and think you can do better. So you play it again, hoping to get even better.

For the love of god, use a controller. Friends don’t let friends use keyboard for this game. That being said, the controls take some time getting used to. You will probably be spending a good amount of time stumbling with the controls before it feels right, however long it takes. Targetting will always feel somewhat off, but somehow, like everything else in the game, it somehow works out.

I didn’t like it, not because of the difficulty -I actually found it interesting that you have to move out of your comfort zone and learn a different moveset. No, I didn’t like it because it’s just not very enjoyable.

First, let’s be clear: the casual players should just go on their way because this game is not for them. The fact that there is less than 10% players with the “finish the game” achievement should be telling. Once you get past half the game you’ll start to have good feelings with the gameplay, but it will be too late for most players and there is just too much bs to go through.

Star Control I and II

Star Control I and II

For starters, I have loved this game since playing it on my 3DO as a child, and being frustrated (along with my father and brother) because of the difficulty. I saw that this was on sale and bought it for nostalgic purposes, and to get a little bit of the beta for Origins. I started the first Star Conrol, and for its time, that was a fun game. Minus an alluring storyline and multiple outcomes of a vast galaxy when compared to the second, I keep that game for back up. Thrilled to start the second one again and delve into childhood wonderment and anguish I’m sure, I was beyond bummed to find out that the PC verson, even this UPDATED awesome steam launch, doesn’t have audio files for the characters and aliens you meet. . . . Huge bummer, I am praying that they get an update out there that ports over the amazing 3D0 voices, because it completely changes the games feel and narrative. Overall, still excited to get the chance to play this amazing game again, and discover all the races and hidden artifacts that my child mind was too ignorant to strive for. Recommend this game completely, but 3D0 OG’s, be prepared for a kick in the feels when that first Ur-Quan drone hails you.

While i don’t have much experience with StarControl1, like many i DO have experience with StarControl2!

In my opinion, not only SC is on the Top 5 Sci-Fi universes, but on the Top 10 of best games!

Now, StarControl is not for everybody, it’s very old for today’s standards, and it’s very clunky to play, the game is very Lore Based, there is Much talking and it can be VERY slow

But the game got Charm, a Cute but Dreary style shows an universe enslaved by a Cruel race, but also shows it has Beauty and Humor in it!
