Anodyne

Anodyne

[Spoiler-Free Review]

Anodyne is an exploration game which borrows heavily from classic 2D Zelda titles (especially Link’s Awakening). The dialogue is introspective, the subject matter is mature (sometimes even disturbing). It’s also one of the strangest games I’ve ever played.

Exploration is at the core of the game. If Anodyne was a protest piece against hand-holding in video games it would be considered a masterpiece. You aren’t given a whole lot of instruction regarding where to go next. This feels liberating, for the most part, as you alone are free to decide your next course of action. It’s also intimidating and frustrating though, as getting lost/stuck at some point through your playthrough is pretty much a given. It’s not necessarily bad game design, it’s a product of having too open a world and too linear a path to success (i.e. to get past this next section, the player will have needed to speak with this person to get this item). There aren’t many indicators letting you know whether you fulfill the prerequirements for an area so there’s a lot of trial and error involved. Be patient or look up a guide.

note, this games not for everyone.

Pros: very simple, bewildering exploration into these surreal worlds. the characters themselves can act unpredictably, like walking by a bunch of normal npcs, but suddenly one looks over and runs after me to attack. the world, dungeons, and puzzles are all very very connected and have shortcuts if you ever wish to backtrak. its quite a unique experience and im glad i actually bought it.

Gamplay: the biggest draw of this gmae to me is the exploring, the dungeons, puzzles and brutal enemies wihtin are all very well doen and get hard in their own right with puzzles and mazes makign you have to think outside the box to see how the areas you are in are connected. but aside form all that the experience of thes eplaces as a whole was the most fun for me. if youre not exploring a dungeon, youre explring the otuside world or some area without enemies. but all areas have plenty of paths and variety in music and play to amke them feel unique, it really helps for not getting lost as well. the music and the off tone of the game and the text youll get from people really gives you this unsettling feel, you're made out to be a protagonist as you go off into this world and commit horrible acts, some good some not, but the game doesnt tell you if what youre doing is right or wrong. you end up pondering it yourself and makes it a much more rmemeberable expeirence imo than say "heres the bad ending, bad things happen" or such or even consequneces. yeah there are consequences for some certain actions but it comes off as geniune from the characters themselves.

Gênese

Gênese

Welcome to your Universe!

Gênese allows you to enter a meditative and relaxing experience of sculpting your own Universe, exploring physics in space and your creativity. Here you can create star systems and fully detailed planets, from a tiny molecule to an huge orb floating in the great void. You will be the powerful entity ruling this Universe, bending and manipulating the forces of nature and creating life. Rising from cosmic dust, this very life will go forward on its own crusade, evolving into intelligent life and conquering the arena you built, as you watch and care (or destroy) its progress, in a high detailed environment.

BE THE COSMIC STORY WRITER

Gênese is also a story generator where every action, every event, every birth and death is recorded in the fabric of space and time. Planets formed from asteroids and cosmic dust, stars dying in colossal supernovae - or becoming black holes, the rise of galactic civilizations from its rudimentary ancestors and, fatefully, to their extermination caused by themselves, by others or… by you.

WITNESS THE POWER OF GRAVITY

Every object wandering in the system will obey the laws of gravitation, effectively being attracted to one another at some point where they collide, merge, become satellites, explode, desintegrate: Watch powerful planetary collisions and the chaotic environment of the early stages of a stellar system that will create unique celestial bodies orbiting that system. Bring order and stabilize it to allow the appearing of life or consume every planet and molecule.

CHEMISTRY IS IMPERATIVE

Every particle can be combined, to form new molecules with new properties - adding unique features to its host planet. Elements and molecules will melt, solidify or evaporate given the right temperature and circunstances. You can engineer a lush paradisiac world or a toxic burning-hot planet. Creating the perfect environment for life to thrive or the most inhospitable place depends on that right combination.

FOLLOW YOUR CO-CREATORS

Once you create life and it becomes intelligent, a new level of complexity and fun is added to the game: they will evolve, create, explore, colonize and get to know those places you already know - and created. These beings you raised will become “co-creators” of some level, changing the landscape for good or evil purposes, advancing independently through the Eons, bringing on their own culture and technology. Watch over them or destroy them - if you decide there’s a reason for that.

The Soldiers Factory

The Soldiers Factory

The Soldiers Factory is a top-down stealth game and the start of a trilogy.

Go undetected and sneak past enemy soldiers or secretly kill them. Overcome surveillance cameras and laser barricades. Use the room scanner, the taser pistol and many other weapons. But remember, the alarm will make the mission even more difficult.

The playing time on the NORMAL level of difficulty is approximately 12 hours. Of course, it depends on the player. The story takes you to several locations, which is divided into over 60 levels.

NENA

NENA

Looks can be deceiving. Before I even say anything about the gameplay, Nena has the best ending I ever experienced in a video game (it’s that special), make sure to watch the credits all the way, and please don’t spoil it for others. The puzzle mechanics are very good, you can take control of the enemies and objects, and even redirect the projectiles in mid-air which creates some very creative gameplay. I also really enjoyed the narrative, I only wish it had more exploration because the way you can interact with the world is so fun. It’s not very long, only about 60 minutes if you not grinding the achievements. I could go on and talk more about the game, but if you play it all the way, I think you will realize that making the game was probably not the most important thing ;). My heart… Just awwwwwwwwwwwww

One of the cutest games EVER! 3

Best ending EVER, like American Beetle said!!! I simply had to play this through instantly because of their glowing review!

I recommend playing this with the controller, like the game says; because I think one would have some difficulty playing otherwise, since aiming and moving is important.

I found that the game has just the right difficulty! Was super fun to go about the puzzles and enemies! Plus, the dialog is so charming and lovely 3

Story

Story

Really interesting project, even if you just walk for the most of the time, the number of endings is quite impressing, but i can’t find out how i should get this many endings. It’s kinda weird the interaction with the objects, you can just watch them so it’s hard to tell if something changes when you “use” them. I’m waiting the update that should be released in these days.

Real player with 0.8 hrs in game

Good visuals if you remove the gray filters that make it hard to make out objects, more obstacles in the infinitely long pathways and also the controls are very bad also cinematic mode is weird also the skeleton looks funny running and also the enemies die in 1 hit and also the skeleton bowl doesnt accept my ball so i have to rule the tomb until judgement day

The Un-BEATable Game

The Un-BEATable Game

Dear (hopeful) Future Player,

This is The Un-BEATable game, a pretty challenging game that I dare you to try to beat.

In this bullet hell done right, you are not meant to only dodge the bullets ad Infinitum, rather you are meant to grab the bullets, or in this case notes, that are being shot at you, to then absorb to shoot back onto the enemies. will be tasked to grab the notes shot by the enemies and grab them to shoot them back at your enemies. And did I mention that the notes shot at you are the actual notes of the music playing in the background? Forget about enemies throwing a screen full of notes for no apparent reason!

A nice and atmospheric game. The graphics and sounds are well done and really help you to immerse yourself into the games world. While the game is short, it does have a branching storyline, where different decisions take you down different paths, giving it replayability.

Such a simple premise that becomes insanely complicated quickly. The last couple levels had me bashing my head into the keyboard, but I finally managed to complete them all. It’s a tiny game, but definitely worth it for the price to have such a unique, brain-bending experience.

Okay, so. At first, I immediately wanted to uninstall this game.

Then, I decided to try again and made it to level three.

(I don’t even know how I managed that because it’s obnoxiously harder then it looks)

Now, I’m going to uninstall it because what the fu~
