SeaRing

SeaRing

ABOUT SEARING

SeaRing is a 2D indie action-puzzle, putting a devilish twist on its predecessors by flipping the script and making defending the only way to attack. Submerge yourself in a world rich in lore, and be taken on a journey full of colourful and often comical storytelling, as you join the Princess of the Sea in a nostalgic quest to recover her mother’s lost crown, become queen, and restore peace in a world now ruled by fire.

As you leave the Water Kingdom behind to venture into the desert, you’ll meet witty and humorous NPCs, witness astonishing backdrops, and be carried by a soothing soundtrack! Will the Princess conquer her foolish foes OR succumb to the pressure and leave her hopes and dreams to dissipate along with the rest of the desert?

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ

So you’re the girl who wants to cross the desert?

Embark on the sea Princess’s journey to retrieve her mother’s lost crown by venturing far from the water and into the uncharted and dangerous realm of fire, a desert where the sun never sets, ruled by the sadistic Saladino and his seven deadly servants. The mission? Accomplish your mother’s last wish and set claim to the sea throne, so that tranquility can return to the kingdom and the moon can once again set a natural pace to the sea’s tide.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ

Trust in the power of the Sea Ring.

The twist? You will have no harpoons, tridents, or turtle shells of any colour. You must solely rely on the Sea Ring. The Sea Ring… is a ring… of the sea, and yes, it’s the title of our game! Passed on by generations, you can summon its defensive capabilities to briefly protect you from imminent danger. The best form of attack is to defend, and we push this famous sports philosophy to its limit!

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ

Explore a rich world filled with art, music, humour and lore!

Brace yourself for a journey through luscious landscapes and be propelled by an adventurous soundtrack, as you set off to vanquish those who stand in your way, starting with Saladino and his posse of good-for-nothing bandits. Encounter challenging puzzles and puzzling challenges, interact with over 50 (sometimes questionable) NPCs and explore 100s of unique dialogue lines, as you dive deeper into enemy territory. How much you rely on them is up to you - they may help you, share insightful recollections as you study the game’s lore, or cause a slight distraction through hilarity as they derail you from your mission.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ

KEY FEATURES

  • You can’t ATTACK?! “How do I kill my enemies then?” Well… you technically don’t. Channel your inner pacifist as you use your Sea Ring to see off any enemy attacks, in true Sea Princess fashion. The Sea Ring can also be used to interact with objects, which will provide usefulness in situations outside of combat (hopefully).

  • So about the NPCs… I guess you don’t have to talk to them but we encourage you to! Some are a bit out there, others actually pretty funny (if you give them the chance to be), and some can be really helpful too, giving you well-needed tips as you explore the lore of this game. With over 50 of them, and 100s of unique dialogue, we’re sure they’ll help you get to your destination! Just don’t pay too much attention to the weird ones…

  • Sea Princess Calls Home: ring ring. ring ring. It’s not everyday that a Sea Princess gets lost in the desert. Actually, this may be the very first time! Whether you may be lost, stuck on a puzzle, or just feeling a little homesick, all you have to do is press ‘C’! Dad and his charm are just an underwater video call away!

  • Illustrious Artwork & Soundtrack: Feast your eyes on this pixel piece of art, and enter a state of musical tranquility with over 10 unique songs from the soundtrack, as SeaRing brings an atmospheric feel that engulfs you in ways you have never experienced before (in other words, our game is really pretty and nice).

Cleo - a pirate’s tale

Cleo - a pirate’s tale

„Cleo - a pirate’s tale“ is a Solo Developed Retro Pixel Art Pirate Adventure with a lot of nostalgic flair, humor and a linear story, inspired by the old Zelda games and the classic LucasArts adventure games.

THE STORY:

„What is the most important part of a story?“

Cleo is a 14 year old cynical girl, living a repetitive life with her father in a bar. She knows everything about the epic adventures of pirate legend Captain Cabeca, but in her everyday life, she is just surrounded by boring fishermen and unsuccessful pirates, hanging around at the counter.

But when Cleo finds a strange pirate-logbook and sees a ghost, who gives her a mysterious hint, her boring life is about to get turned upside down. She is thrown into a dangerous adventure and finds herself in a world of lies, deceit, greed and bad breath - the world of pirates - and most of them are looking for the same thing:

THE TREASURE OF ETERNAL MEMORY.

KRAKEN FODDER:

“Kraken Fodder” is a mini game inside the game.

It is a card and dice game, which is taken pretty seriously among fishermen and pirates. One round takes about 5 minutes and the game is about destroying your opponents card deck with canon balls. HAHAHAR!

Throughout the game, Cleo has to play this card game against a few NPCs.

The game was successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2020. The release is planned for late 2021 with full voice acting in English and German.

ARRRGH!

Mondealy: Day One

Mondealy: Day One

In Mondealy we are introduced to the secret hidden world of Mondealy, a universe where multiple races of humans evolved on the same planet. Mondealy is a classic side scrolling rpg adventure where you build relationships with various people in order to change the world around you in meaningful ways. In Mondealy: Day One, we are introduced to the various worlds that exist within the Mondealy timeline. The world of Mondealy is really well built, and filled with tons of unique races and complex individuals. Quite a few different paths look like they are developing that will change how relationships evolve with the various people that you interact with and the choices you make. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this game turns out once its complete. The full game of Mondealy is expected to come out in 2022.

Tldr: Give it a try!

Pros

Art: Surprisingly good, I wasn’t expecting it to have that much polish for a demo. I specifically like the transitions between areas and the character portraits are good at displaying emotion.

Partial Controller Support

Gameplay: There’s stuff you can interact with. You have a phone that shows you tasks, and you can check you inventory. Well Optimized.

Sound: It’s alright.

Cons

There’s Fast Travel, but only on the surface.

It’s also kinda pointless because on the way to the Forest there’s a few screens besides each other with Fast Travel, but below the surface there’s no Fast Travel.

Dying Flame

Dying Flame

Dying Flame is a top-down horror walking simulator with strong exploration and puzzle-solving elements. Inspired by Japanese games like Ib, Mad Father, and The Witch’s House, Dying Flame was created with RPG Maker MV by RoundTable Games Studio, a five-person team based in Malaysia. Their goal is to make games that tell compelling stories, and their flagship game carries that torch with aplomb.

GRAPHICS 8/10

Ever-present darkness conceals detailed pixel graphics.

Pixel graphics have a wide range of shading and realism, but Dying Flame sits comfortably on the upper end of that spectrum. Moving around a black screen with only a lighter to guide you doesn’t afford many opportunities to show off the developers’ artwork, but it does evoke a powerful sense of vulnerability as you traverse the largely unseen expanse of the mansion. Intermittent flashes of lightning provide the only fully-lit glimpses of your otherwise pitch-black surroundings. When you encounter the mansion’s light-sensitive occupant, your game becomes something akin to a text adventure as you are forced to douse your light and feel your way through complete darkness.

For a small game, it is pretty impressive how deep and heavy the theme of this game is. The unique mechanics works perfectly with the game story and the star of the show would be the audio design. If you like multi-ending narrative game with heavy focus on main character development, this game would provide plenty of interesting experience to explore. Good start, looking forward for more from the dev in the future!

Road to Ballhalla

Road to Ballhalla

Road to Ballhalla is a cheeky, occasionally cruel but ultimately satisfying experience, that I would highly recommend to anyone with a taste for arcade-style platformers and puzzle games. I say this having completed 100% of the game’s achievements.

Aesthetically, with regards to its delightfully colourful design and well-suited, unintrusive yet engaging soundtrack, I can’t really fault Road to Ballhalla. The puzzles are all very much based upon rhythm and visual patterns, meaning that the audio-visual elements of the game are critically important, and I am pleased to report that they do themselves absolute justice.

Real player with 14.6 hrs in game

Road to Ballhalla is a simple top-down arcade-style game. You control a ball, and your goal is to navigate your way through 20 levels, collecting little sparks (the game’s collectable) and avoiding dying as you go.

The game is very simple – there isn’t even a jump button. You can simply move in any direction, or speed up your rolling in a sort of dash move. The dash move makes it so you die instantly if you take damage, rather than simply… well, taking damage. This makes it risky to use at times, so it must be used judiciously.

By completing each step of the path, you will have before you, the possibility to enter a state of pure bliss. Free from all suffering and desires that keep you away from harmony. Nature will guide you, but it is up to you to face your inner fears and demons.

CROSSFIRE II (2002)

CROSSFIRE II (2002)

I had some real fun playing this retro gem!

For a casual like myself the difficulty was hard but fair and i liked the tactiical aspect of the fights. i enjoyed hiding behind my fierce allies or asteroids before unleashing a swarm of rockets against the UW or alien fools! The controls are simple but very intuitive. I got my money’s worth.

It’s a timeless space shooter. Worth the price. Very nostalgic.

Thank you to the developers for bringing it back to life on PC.

I really do appreciate the revival of this game.

  • story is short, but varied

  • different weapons

  • cool extras

  • achievements

  • don’t care for multiplayer, it’s deatchmatch or horde only

Don’t Get Bit

Don’t Get Bit

First experience with a turn-based strategy game - so much fun! Just the right amount of challenge to keep me coming back for more. Felt like I was cruising along with ease until Level 23 - things have slowed down, but I’m muscling through - I’ll help Cassie & Co. beat those zombies yet!

Love the narration and story - can’t wait to see how it ends! Drawings are fantastic, to boot!

This is the first time I have ever played a turn-based strategy game, and I love it!!

This has been a great intro into these types of games. I’m in the middle of my second play-through of “Don’t Get Bit” and it’s just as entertaining as the first play. The story is very compelling and brilliant! I love the voice actress. I love everything about the look of this game too. It’s so unique and cool!

“Don’t Get Bit” is challenging and always keeps me on my toes; I have ended up playing it for hours with no knowledge of time passing. I have screamed in frustration when my strategy has ended with me turning into a blood smear on the board, but it just makes me more determined to beat it and show the game who’s boss.
