Cook-Out

Cook-Out

Awesome game, its Overcooked VR.

I’m about a third of the way through the game, and it has gotten really complicated. I’m now chopping, saucing, grilling, cleaning, and plating all at the same time with my friends, and its delightful yet difficult.

Technical:

The multiplayer lobby system is REALLY easy, its just a room code. The Netcode is also really great, the polish is high, I’ve honestly had zero technical issues with the game.

This is a multiplayer-forward game, if you want a more single-player oriented experience, I would direct you to Rags To Dishes.

This is probably the one of the best VR Cooperative games to play with friends when you want something chaotic ala Overcooked. Missions become harder and harder as one progresses, and even with 3 friends requires quite bit of coordination to get past some of the challenges with full 3 stars.

There is also a puzzle mode which is fun to do while waiting for everyone to be ready trying to figure out various recipes. Some feel a bit obtuse tho and dont provide enough hints on solving them.

There are occasionally some bugs as well, but these are relatively minor: Had desync issues (between people playing across europe and us) but this gets solved by reconnecting on the next round and are relatively rare. The mission difficulty also is a bit all over the place with the later where very hard missions (to get full stars on) get followed up with something that is a breeze to 3 stars, but not sure if thats intentional or not.

Deadly Daycare VR

A very fun and unique VR experience! It gets a little spooky if you don’t tend to the creatures' needs fast enough but that only incentivizes you to finish your tasks quicker. Also, the devs are very receptive to user feedback as they fix issues very soon after they’re brought to light. 10/10 game.

Pretty fun game that is quality over quantity and I really like that, the game is only 3 levels long but it’s pretty fun. I liked the first level the most because I love the goat, but the twins were also pretty cool. Good game I will come back to if there’s more updates to it. Only bug I found is that I beat level 3 but got no achievement for it, nothing big or game breaking just something I noticed 10/10 Good game, and it’s free.

Great fun, but less than two hours long.

Really good fun though.

A fun, yet somewhat challenging cooking management game. If you enjoy games like ‘Cook, Serve, Delicious!’, ‘Cooking Dash’, & you like the idea of playing theses games in VR, then Sep’s Diner is definitely a game you should check out.

(I had won this game back in August, during a contest that Scale-1 Portal held.)

A challenging and rewarding VR puzzler, this is a beautiful game that runs on the Vive as well as the Pimax 5k+ with no issues. It allows smooth (controller-based) locomotion as well as teleport.

I’d compare it with the Talos Principle and Portal (but without the narrative) in that each puzzle exists as a separate room that you must move around in to complete a physical task. Each room is a large 3 dimensional space where you play with switches to change the direction of gravity, move platforms, etc. The main challenge is the time switching and interacting with past versions of yourself. There are 4 main sections with a different theme and each has around 10 puzzles. As a whole, everything feels connected and not a just a jumble of random puzzles. The puzzles are quite varied in complexity and often can be solved in more than one way. Some are pretty straight forwards while others took me multiple attempts and sometimes required you to think outside the box. It never felt repetitive and it took me 27 hours to beat the game.

I just finished playing through the whole game. As someone who prefers VR platforming and puzzle games rather than shooters, I enjoyed the experience for the most part, and would say this as a pretty good game with some flaws. I would have happily paid for it, and recommend it to anyone who enjoys room scale VR and problem solving.

The good

The game is designed around a time manipulation and replay premise, like you might have seen in Braid or The Talos Principle. Each level contains one or more starting locations and one or more slots in which you want to insert cubes. You pick a starting point, step out of it, do stuff, and then choose to either keep or discard your run. Kept runs all play in parallel, so you can do such things as throw cubes to your future self, or steal them from your past self, as well as manipulate platforms for your other selves. Later, different simultaneous gravity orientations are introduced depending on the starting location. These puzzle elements work well together and the levels are creative and interesting.

The core gameplay is fun, and I was having a blast right away. I am happy to change this review as dev’s have now been engaging with the community on bugs/issues. I am hoping they can solve some of the startup issues as I look forward to playing this game with friends more.

I had the honor and privilege of beta testing this game before it was released. As a beta tester, I did receive this for free on Steam, but I fully plan on purchasing it as soon as it’s released on another platform to support the game and devs.

Hands down, this game is the best VR cooking style game I have played and I’ve played a lot of them. As far as the larger genre of multi-tasking/Simulator VR games goes, I would personally rank this in the top 3 with Job simulator and Prison Boss. This is going to be one of those games that I never go too long without playing .

This game is a blast! I play it every day to loosen myself up and get my heart-rate up a bit before I do my workout. Has similar elements to Counter Fight and Diner Duo, but I enjoy the Medieval theme here more than those. The controls and steps required for making recipes is intuitive and feels good. There are basically three difficulty levels, or so I thought. Turns out, each one (Peasant, Noble, Royal) is a completely different kitchen, with different meals, tools and upgrades! I honestly did not expect that, and it’s made me so happy. At about 8 hours in so far, I still have not beaten the story mode. The only thing that was awkward for me was the hand-angle when using the knuckles controllers of the Valve Index, but they just fixed that! Now you can pick which controllers you have and the hand-angle adjusts accordingly. I have had literally no other problems. No crashes for me and I love the gameplay and art-style. Great work on this guys. :) Makes me want to try developing something similar (but different of course), haha.

Incredibly fun game to play. My self, the Mrs and the nephews all love playing this game. Levels get harder as you play through and the graphics are perfect for the type of game. Some boss levels can be a real challenge but it is what makes this so fun.

This was exactly the kind of cooking game I was hoping to play in VR and it did not disappoint. Lots of recipes and should have plenty of replayability (especially with the arcade mode that’s coming). Excited to see what updates the developer brings! Totally worth price of admission now.
