Its a bit rough around the edges but the devs are very responsive to feedback and eager to fix bugs. Some parts were a bit of a drag and some parts really engaging especially the end. Overall I enjoyed the experience. I think its value for money especially considering the recent price drop.

The good stuff

I thought the world building and lore were excellent; really immersive. Voice acting was decent and graphically its very nice. I also had no problems with performance and there was a recent patch to improve performance even more.

Currently at almost the 10 hour mark, I can safely say I am pleasantly surprised with this game. I wasn’t really sure what to expect to be honest, maybe some sort of plague inc style gameplay that would keep me for maybe 1 hour or 2 with a twist… but, I have to say I am still battling to complete this game in the hardest difficulty, as its damn intense!

It is similar to plague inc in how you play the game, however the addition of actually controlling a character that affects the world directly is actually a very cool addition. The theme and art style are great, but what kept me hooked all this time so far is really the feeling of “if only I had taken this one different decision” or “if only I had picked these other talents… I could have gotten it”, which has been keeping me wanting to play just one more match.

John Wick Hex

John Wick Hex

John Wick Hex is a hex grid strategy game that takes place in the world of John Wick and you play as the Baba Yaga himself. Most people don’t think of strategy game and John Wick in the same sentence, expecting any John Wick game to be a mindless shooting game. This may be a valid expectation but John Wick Hex really captures the feeling of being John Wick and using skill and strategy to come out on top even when vastly outnumbered and outgunned.

If you’ve ever played a game like X-Com before then you know the basics of this type of strategy game only in John Wick Hex you don’t have a squad; you are just one man. You can move around, shoot at enemies, refocus, reload (if you have ammo), bandage, throw your gun at an enemy, or if you’re close enough to them initiate melee combat with strikes, parries, pushes, and takedowns. You have to keep track of your health, your weapon’s ammo, and your focus meter which is used to perform parries, takedowns, and dodges during melee combat. Before each mission there is a level map where you can use your Continental coins to purchase buffs/perks and stash weapons or equipment in the level. You may have to change your play style based on what perks you buy so this adds an element of replayability. At the end of each stage you can watch a real time replay of your actions in the level complete with cinematic camera angles.

I really wanted to like this game and it was enjoyable for a while, but in the end for me just misses the mark. It makes me sad because this game has so much potential but limited move options mixed with some poor designs and unnecessary RNG made the game more frustrating than fun.

I like the way all actions happen on a time scale and you can see what your enemies are about to do. Developers nailed this 100%. The move list isn’t bad and most have their place, but to really feel like John Wick there should have been more. In the movies John is constantly grappling one enemy while shooting another. This mechanic is missing. You can’t shield yourself from gunfire with another enemy. This makes the push option largely useless. I would have liked to see a push and shoot option where John can either shoot the enemy being pushed or another enemy while being shielded. There should have been a disarm move as well (or even further - disarm and keep weapon or disarm and discard weapon). We should have been able to chain moves together like a Roll into a Takedown or a Takedown into a Strike instead of John taking down a target, then selecting strike on the next and the target magically gets off the floor for John to do pre-rendered stance strike animation. This is just laziness by the devs.

Bourbon Empire

Bourbon Empire

Bourbon Empire is a real-time strategy game set in New York City during Prohibition somewhere in the late 1920’s. Claim territory as your own, and profit from the rising bootlegging industry. But be aware, law enforcement can either be your greatest ally, or help in your destruction.

Conquer

Claim new territory within the city as your own. Collect protection payments from the various businesses and establishments within your neighborhoods. However, not all neighborhoods are the same, some have the potential to be far more profitable than others so pick your battles wisely.

Build Up Your Family

All those new neighborhoods are going to need some muscle to protect and manage it. Create capo units and assign gangsters from the neighborhoods to them. Deploy your crews to their respective districts and watch the money role in. Arm your gangsters with a variety of weapons from handguns to the classic tommy gun to explosives. Also watch them gain experience with every enemy they ‘whack’.

If you have money to spare, you can also purchase vehicles for your crews. Makes running around the city a whole lot easier.

Establish Illegal Businesses

Protection payments are nice and all (and it’s easy!) but the real money is in the rackets. Establish new enterprises ranging from loan sharking to speakeasies. Each type has their own pros and cons, so make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into ‘cause setting them up ain’t cheap.

Bourbon is the Name of the Game

Booze production, transportation, and sale in your ‘fine establishments’ will certainly help solve your financial woes. Alcohol is a precious commodity during this period and there never seems to be enough. It can both increase profits from some rackets and be a requirement for others to even function. Produce alcohol in modified warehouses, load up your trucks, and get it into your businesses.

Law Enforcement

No crime ever goes unnoticed. Every illegal activity creates some form of heat, if you let that heat get out of hand the police will step in. From imposing fines to arresting (temporarily removing) your muscle to outright shutting down your businesses, the cops can make life very unpleasant.

However, they can also be a real help. Greasing the right palms and having police on the payroll not only helps prevent heat from building up, but the police can also come to your aid whether they’re watching over your neighborhoods, raiding enemy establishments, or even protecting your booze shipments from rival families.

Jurisdiction

Jurisdiction

This game is really a lot of fun. There is a lot to manage, but much of it comes pretty quickly as you try things. I had some questions and the devs responded very quickly. If you enjoy management games, this one is very worth a try. I got it on a bit of a sale, but I have already gotten full-price value out of it. Very fun. Very well done.

The premise is interesting and it is kind of fun when you get to run your department, respond to important and non-important calls. The developer has put in time and effort to come up with interesting calls, and I enjoy that sometimes the “bad guy” tries to shoot it out, sometimes they attempt to get away and on the odd occassion, they surrender to the Police (almost like in real life). Jurisdiction is a better version I think of 911 Operator from 2017. However, right now the game is very buggy and the camera controls are god awful. If the developer isn’t preparing to do immediate patches and continue to work hard at the game than this is a terrible investment … however, if the developer continues to develop this game … it could be a gem

The first thing I need to say is READ THE MANUAL! If you’re like me and tend to play a casual game or two to get the hang of things it’s very easy to have no idea what you are doing and lose the game. A quick skiim of the manual will give you an idea of what is what and how the game runs.

I very nearly wrote a bad review after my first game after giving up in just five minutes, I hadn’t read the manual and had no clue what I was doing.

The graphics and sound options on the game are not great, basic graphics and no volume control are something of a turn-off, but you can do what I did and turn off the game’s music and ignore the graphiocs quality.

I got this with stardock legends pack, so it was so cheap. It works on my win 10, and I don’t update it unless it asks me so it works perfectly on win10. First with the cons, the training isn’t working as it shows when you press f2 ( it’s been showed in help, f1) so I played a game at beginner than “difficult in pain”. After few lose I managed to own the world. So there should be some ways to endure the others. Ok you will say me to use cards and lucki but cards require too much resources for a losing company. Maybe I’m telling this because MOBA games and their competitive game strategy is popular now, however, I still think there should be balance. Also I wish to have suggestions to continue after 55% global market sharings. Or there would be other choices such as technology winnig. And pros, if you like this kind of games you will like it. You really need to control market, demand and sellings should be balanced very well, otherwise you lose. I really liked it. I wish ppl upgraded it till now, but this gem also lost itself in the marketing :/

Steampunk Timer

Steampunk Timer

Steampunk Timer is a Dilated Time Tactical Action game that combines classic real time strategy with a roguelite progression and reward system. It takes place in a dystopian Victorian-style city dominated by the uncontrolled use of machines with the capacity to fold time.

In the industrial city of Victoria, the wealthy lords of the Manorborn Society possessed technology capable of folding time to enrich themselves indefinitely - until now. Faced with the growing impoverishment of the working class, the Traveling Theater Guild summons its actors to master this technology and give the aristocracy a show they will never forget.

And what about you? Are you the protagonist or a figurant?

Features

  • Tactical action with dilated time strategy. Make use of your time machine and enter Dilated Time Mode (DTM). It slows down the time around you so you can choose the best tactic to ambush your enemies.

  • Roguelite game system. Choose up to 6 characters in a run, select one of the routes generated after each mission and buy the most suitable improvements for each situation. You will be defeated, but do not despair. In each new beginning, you will be wiser than before.

  • Pixel-art style graphics. Enjoy the pixel-art style of its settings and the fluid animations of its characters, drawn frame by frame, pixel by pixel.

  • 4 bosses to defeat. Complex and spectacular battles that will require preparation and quick reflexes. Too easy? Fight hordes of enemies guarding secret rooms or face the Infinite Basement challenge.

  • 10 charismatic characters with unique abilities. Choose the Hunter to make quick ambushes, or the Assault to shoot at medium range, but don’t forget the Scout to collect and distribute resources among his allies. Combine your characters to create the most fearsome unit in Victoria City.

  • 200+ upgrades and equipment to unlock. Were you planning to send your actors to the dangerous streets without good equipment? Get food rations to unlock gear and upgrades that will only be available during the current run. Also, get scrap metal and repair the Railway-Theater to unlock equipment which can appear in your next runs.

  • 50+ fully destructible scenarios in 15+ different biomes. Clear that street. If you choose to go north you will go through that building; if you go south you will arrive at the port crossing a park. Choose your route at the end of each mission and contemplate the beautiful places that Victoria City has prepared for your visual delight. But do me a favor and don’t reduce the city to rubble on your way, would you kindly?
