h8machine

h8machine

h8machine is a cardgame set in a dystopian future in which Artificial Intelligence šŸ¤–šŸ¤–šŸ¤– has completely overtaken the online world šŸŒšŸŒšŸŒ but the worst part is - it learned to behave just like usā€¦

but the AI is not just in the story! an in-game neural network allows you to customize and randomize 2D art in real time! with this TECHNOLOGY, you can fully immerse yourself in the world of anime profile pics posting complete garbage. it’s just like real life social media!

no one uses realtime-with-pause in cardgames, probably for some good reason. but screw it, I like RTWP so I just put it in!

you will strategize around the use of timers as the flow of time is your main resource! there is no turns and all cards time out, resulting in a gameplay like you haven’t seen before. will you get lost in the hectic chaos of ticking timers, or will you optimize every fraction of a second at your disposal? remember: the active pause system allows you to play any card you want while the time stops. use it to make your decisions and execute powerful combos!

are you tired of collecting cards one by one and having to remove the crap ones from your deck as a deckbuilder game goes on? in h8machine, instead of trying to collect a deck card by card, you grab packets of cards with their own “personalities” - internet stereotypes and whatnot. each of these personalities contributes 1/3 of your deck, and you can mix&match them to easily form decks with a pre-constructed feel

Computer Tycoon

Computer Tycoon

This is the first review I’ve ever written, even though I have nearly 100 games in my library, so that should tell you something just there. Computer Tycoon is easily one of the greatest tycoon games I have ever tried, right up there with Game Dev Tycoon and Automation (might’ve got the name wrong). It is addictive, and my first 10 minutes of playing it turned into hours upon hours of doing so. For sure worth the price! You get a WHOLE lot of gameplay, and I haven’t even tried hard mode yet. Everything is nearly completely customizable and it is just overall amazing. Some aspects could use some work, though, such as a slow lategame. When you get near 2010, and really 2000s in general, the game really takes a hit. Demand is FAR more than you could ever produce (I mean, you could, but repeating the same process of buying sites, upgrading factories, upgrading recreation, repeat, gets REALLY boring and almost made me stop playing), research gets really slow as in you don’t really have anything to research lategame. For me, it just ran out for a while. Which REALLY made the research department useless, so that is a definite con. Competitors seem to research everything much quicker, and receive an unfair advantage even though you have the best computer on the market PLUS its cheap, and yet they still have the entire world in their color. If there was a way to mass-buy land or mass-produce sites, or to add more factory upgrades, it would make things much better. Again, competitors obviously don’t face this issue and complete everything instantly. At least, that is how it is currently working for me.

After playing it for hours and as a tycoon-games fan, I think this review would be usefull for both the players and the developer(s).

A good, well-balanced Computer Business tycoon game. It’s main focus is computer parts and models, rather than Sims-style city building, which is what many Comp-tycoon players look for.

There are several pros and cons of this game and it is still in alpha-stage; which I hope will result in a batter, near flawless game.

Pros: Vast range of computer parts from memory units to mother boards. Rather than popping computer products, in this game you built your own computer to sell on the market. That way, there are endless possibilities from selling high-end computers to Celeron-type low-end ones; and maintaining classic Home Computer series. During the game, you’d have many available components to choose from. I named my graphic cards as Burnout 100, 109, 330 etc. Quite fun.

Brewer

Brewer

This game is cheap and kind of rough but it’s strangely compelling. You’re a brewery owner and you buy pubs and sell the beer that you make in those pubs. Someone mentioned “genuinely interesting decisions” or some such in a review of this game here and that’s stuck with me and it’s true. You have to decide which recipes to learn, decide whether to buy a pub and when to upgrade it, decide which beers to brew, and juggle deliveries so you don’t run out.

Is the best $5 game on Steam? I doubt it. But I find myself coming back to it now and then when I want to play for a few hours and don’t want to get into anything that is too involved.

Overview

Until REXCurse starts getting noticed by developers, ol' Il Pallino is going to have to review games from his own library. One such game that absolutely needs a review is Brewer. Set in a fictional area within Russia, the player starts a brewery and brews beer which is primarily sold through bars owned by the player, but every so often an opportunity (similar to contacts in Omerta - City of Gangsters) to sell beer at greater prices to out of town entities comes up every so often. As with any management sim, the player starts out small and goes on to conquer the gaming world by owning pubs all over the map.

I have almost played 4 hours of this game, and I find it amazing! I enjoy the graphics and music of this game. Once i was able to figure out a few things, I managed to not get to frustrated. The weather really does make a diffrence in this game. Then there is the mayor with an eye patchā€¦.the mystery in figuring out why! Overall, this game is great and puts casual games to an amazing level. A++++++++++

Could use more work. It gets really easy once you figure out the perfect ratio for the recipe. All you have to do is slide the temperature up and down depending on the weather the next day and keep the recipe the same. After that, you can level up all the way by day 30 like I didā€¦ with 60 days left on the clock. 60 more days of the same thing over and over again… to be fully playable there should be more features added.

Actually just encountered a bug the day after the Mayor comes and buys 6 cups of coffee. The customers suddenly stop coming to the shop and there’s no way to end the day. Bugs galore in this game. Pass on it.

Mr Boom’s Firework Factory

Mr Boom’s Firework Factory

Mr Boomā€™s Firework Factory is a very enjoyable puzzle game! Itā€™s not often that I lose track of time while playing an indie game! Just an added note, at the time of this review Iā€™ve successfully completed the entire game and achieved all the steam achievements.

Iā€™m going to start off with the CONS and then end off with the PROS, but first Iā€™ll explain a bit about the concept of the game. Mr Boomā€™s Firework Factory does contain a story however I will not get into the story itself as that would take away from the experience new players would gain otherwise. The objective is to essentially move firework crates through the level while navigating the crates by rotating the floor panels which display directional arrows and paying attention to any other obstacles in the environment. You must make sure youā€™re picking the firework crates in the correct order.

SimPocalypse

SimPocalypse

UI has an unusal design to help increase the options for the massive number-growth generator applications that all idle-clickers are.

The demand for input from you as a player feels obstructive at a fair bit of time and the techs that allow you to automate yourself away are not clearly advertised with the tech tree being ‘shrouded’. This can add some frustration.

There is little else to add, the combat is mostly for show - my own ‘35K force’ tank brigade does not take any damage at all anymore when facing supposedly superior forces and development of my faction has pretty much gone to a standstill for the past 5 hours while I’m tabbed out letting the auto-combat handle conquering everything.

This is a ‘yes, but’ review, so. If you’re skimming, pass this one up. If you’re interested in details on why this MIGHT be for you, read on.

So. This is one of those compelling semi-idle games where you fundamentally click things on spreadsheets to make the numbers go up until you literally take over the world. And that’s pretty fun! However.

For the random store browser, there’s not much more to it than that, and I think there’s a lot of room to be disappointed with your purchase.

For people who enjoy the semi-idle thingā€¦?

Train Valley

Train Valley

I thought this would just be geometric puzzles.. figure out how to lay the tracks. But the creators took this into account by throwing an array of constraints at you:

A. Budget (both too much and too little)

B. Physical Constraints.. both “immovable” and “purchasable” where you pay to use the area

C. Scheduling Challenges.. not only the ones thrown by the game but a “must do” quantity of add-on trains you add at your choice of times in your game play.

D. Time Constraints.. each “location” has limited time to accomplish your work

This wasn’t what I was expecting. I was expecting a game like transport tycoon made more simple and kid-friendly that I could let my niece play when she came over. (She likes trains.) Instead, this game is basically one of those traffic-manager games, although it does feature pausing. Space is severely cramped, forcing multiple trains to share the same tracks since there isn’t room for the parallel tracks you’d normally use, and so managing traffic flow and multitasking are the name of the game.

Transporter Manager Tycoon

Transporter Manager Tycoon

OVERVIEW:

The game is a continuation of Freight Simulator (which I have also played). Transporter Manager Tycoon is a management game, which allows you to expand your company to several branches and follow different paths, different than Freight Simulator where you only managed your transport company, you can now transform your company into a distributor or in a stock holding. Of course, I couldn’t miss the chance to play this game, after having played Freight Simulator.

POSITIVES:

ā€“ Real player with 30.9 hrs in game

It’s funny how Steam (and life) works sometimes. I spent Ā£42 on CK3 and hated it so much I had to ask for a refund which is something I can never remember doing. I then spent Ā£7 something on this and I haven’t stopped playing since. Goes to show some of the cheaper games can be better, Of course it can be improved, it feels a little bit clunky and it’s not exactly realistic. Why should a manager have to fuel a truck halfway through a trip, surely the driver would? Then you can stop a trip halfway through and come back to it later. Not something you can do in real life! I think it would be nice if there was some kind of basic geography included so you had loads going to and from different geographic locations and you could warehouse goods at different places, swap trailers, etc to make it more realistic. Overall though I really like playing and I’d recommend a buy.
