Delicious - Emily’s Miracle of Life

Delicious - Emily’s Miracle of Life

Another enjoyable game from the series. Many of the frustrating mechanics have been removed or smoothed over, and it is as usual a joy to play. I did find it harder than previous games, but still managed to make my way through it. As per usual Emily attracts even more misfits who seem to exist to teach life lessons or perhaps emphasise that Emily ISN’T the most dysfunctional family around. The story is, while predictable, well written. It also deals with some surprisingly heavy topics for a game of this nature, including; infertility, relationship break-ups, and mortality (not all for the same characters…). And while I did spend much time shouting at Emily’s family that it REALLY didn’t matter what colour socks they bought for the impending arrival,( it’s a baby, it ain’t gonna care whether you got it pink or blue… ), I did generally enjoy the story and characters.

I’ve been following and playing these games since the first Delicious game came out and I can honestly say this one took a lot of getting used to.

I don’t particularly care for the new art style. It’s not bad but it’s very different from the previous games and it changed how the game felt. Again, it’s not bad but boy was it disorienting at first!

I didn’t particularly care for three of the characters introduced in this game. They’re realistic but they take away just a bit from the happy flow of the story.

Magic Farm 2: Fairy Lands (Premium Edition)

Magic Farm 2: Fairy Lands (Premium Edition)

This is what I affectionately refer to as a “Click Management” game – a Time Management sub-genre. There are only three other titles that I know of that have this kind of gameplay: The Fifth Gate, Dragon Keeper and Grimm’s Hatchery, none of which are currently available at Steam.

Options include separate sliders for Music and Sound, Full-screen, Custom Cursor and Warning notifications, plus Casual or Hardcore mode. The Tutorial is optional.

It is a fun pretty mindless game that lets me just unwind while listening to music or a show!

New Yankee 7: Deer Hunters

New Yankee 7: Deer Hunters

New Yankee 7: Deer Hunters is a classic time management game - perform a series of action in an allotted time.

This game includes levels of difficulties, where the hardest is really, really hard. New Yankee 8 is way more easy - as a point of reference.

There are in-game achievements. Some of them are interesting and attached to a given level. The achievement’s triggering can be seen only afterward in a dedicated screen. Nothing shows while playing.

I’m at level 25 when I write this review - and 3 hours in. There are apparently 50 levels total.

In this video I take a look at New Yankee 7: Deer Hunters a casual adventure management game.

I love these titles and this one was no different. It’s high quality and provides a great casual experience as you try to track down the magic Unicorn for the Kingdom. During the course of the game you also unlock mini games and there are hidden puzzle pieces in each level.

Alicia Quatermain 2: The Stone of Fate

Alicia Quatermain 2: The Stone of Fate

Better than I expected. I’m not a big fan of beating the clock in time management games, but you can just play through the levels in relaxed mode without a timer. The story isn’t that great. You face the evil bad guy in level 40, but there are 50 levels, so the last 10 levels seem like an afterthought. However, the gameplay itself is good. It’s usually pretty clear what you need to do and there were no intruders that needed to be clicked on repeatedly to drive them away. There is a puzzle piece hidden on each level. If you find them all, then you can play all the bonus levels. This seemed out of place at first, but then I realized the point of it. Some games require three stars on each level to get to the bonus levels. Finding hidden objects is a way to grant access to the bonus levels without requiring beating the clock, but with a different challenge instead. Seemed a little too easy to me, but I have to give them credit for trying something new. One other thing I liked was the way achievements are handled. At the end of a level, you are told if you got any achievements and what you did to get them. This is a nice touch, because in some games, it is not always clear when you got an achievement or what you had to do to get it.

Alicia Quartermain 2: The Stone of Fate is a casual resource/time management strategy game similair to 12 Labours of Hercules. Alicia Quartermain is a treasure/artifact hunter and travels to various lands. At the start of each level, you have 1-3 workers that you direct to do various things ranging from collecting resourses to constructing and upgrading buildings or gold mines. Alicia explodes carts and defuses bombs that are in the way. Jetdogs has the genre down to perfection and makes the best time management games! Overall it’s a very enjoyable time management game. If you’re a fan of the genre you should pick it up.

Delicious - Emily’s Message in a Bottle

Delicious - Emily’s Message in a Bottle

Delicious - Emily’s Message in a Bottle is the first GameHouse title I’ve played and it took only a few minutes for it to become one of my favorite games and to realize soon after that all the other tiles belonging to this developer will also end up in my top games selection.

The “Delicious - Emily” series currently contains 17 installments, of which only 8 exist on Steam. Delicious - Emily’s Message in a Bottle is one of the latest games of the series and while there is no requirement to play them in order, I felt a bit sad for not experiencing Emily’s story from the start, before attempting to play “Message in a Bottle”. Each of these games focuses on an individual episode from Emily’s existence and it’s sure nice to see how her life has progressed over the various games, from being a simple waitress aspiring to manage her own restaurant one day to an accomplished woman, with a wonderful family and holder of a restaurant chain.

  • Comments on this game:

The best story in the whole franchise. Great italian restaurants and food to serve. Takes 20 hours to get all the achievements. Some items is rarely ordered, so it would be a little bit grinding to unlock their upgrades.

  • Comments on the franchise Delicious Emily

This franchise is part of my wife’s childhood gameplay memory. I bought it to play with her and I enjoyed the whole franchise thoroughly. Almost every game from this franchise is a great time management game with superb story and appealing graphics. The mechanism varies slightly from game to game so it does not feel too repetitive. The progression of the coherent story, the different restaurants, and the new items to serve are compelling enough to make you play title after title. If you are interested in time management games, I strongly recommend getting the Delicious 8-in-1 Bundle, and play them in release order.

Elven Legend 2: The Bewitched Tree

Elven Legend 2: The Bewitched Tree

This is a very casual and fluffy strategy game. On the easiest difficulty, it’s not timed, which makes it great for kids, beginners, or those of us who just needs something relaxing to play at the end of the day. Runs great on Linux and it’s hard to beat the price.

The only con is that the English (at least) localization is terrible. I mean, some of the dialogue borders on All Your Base territory. Fortunately, the story isn’t all that important to enjoying the game and I just choose to be amused by it. Guess you could also use it to show the kids the importance of good grammar if you don’t want to look/sound silly. :)

I absolutely recommand this game!

I enjoyed Elven Legend, but this edition is even better ! I’ve played a lot of time-managing games and I sometimes find them games quite easy to finish even on an expert level, but I spent some time getting all the stars in Elven Legend 2,, some levels were very challenging !

If you like building strategies as well as managinf time inside a fairy tale, this game is made for you !!!
