h8machine

h8machine is a cardgame set in a dystopian future in which Artificial Intelligence 🤖🤖🤖 has completely overtaken the online world 🌐🌐🌐 but the worst part is - it learned to behave just like us…

but the AI is not just in the story! an in-game neural network allows you to customize and randomize 2D art in real time! with this TECHNOLOGY, you can fully immerse yourself in the world of anime profile pics posting complete garbage. it’s just like real life social media!

no one uses realtime-with-pause in cardgames, probably for some good reason. but screw it, I like RTWP so I just put it in!

you will strategize around the use of timers as the flow of time is your main resource! there is no turns and all cards time out, resulting in a gameplay like you haven’t seen before. will you get lost in the hectic chaos of ticking timers, or will you optimize every fraction of a second at your disposal? remember: the active pause system allows you to play any card you want while the time stops. use it to make your decisions and execute powerful combos!

are you tired of collecting cards one by one and having to remove the crap ones from your deck as a deckbuilder game goes on? in h8machine, instead of trying to collect a deck card by card, you grab packets of cards with their own “personalities” - internet stereotypes and whatnot. each of these personalities contributes 1/3 of your deck, and you can mix&match them to easily form decks with a pre-constructed feel

Very interesting theme, art, and interface. I like the auto-pause, and you can study the time before hitting the start on an event. The concepts hit home and stay with you. The Emotionarium and gameplay have interesting descriptions that make you contemplate how you might use the game concepts in real life. For example, working out unwanted emotional conditions by putting them into the product of your work is something that works regardless of what you do for a living.

I am having difficulty finding ways to consistently create passion to sustain painting and the job hunt has not been reliable, but this has not detracted from the beauty of the game.

This review will be on constant up throughout this game development. Currently the development team is incredibly responsive. Both on the forum and the email. Anytime I spotted a bug I post it forum and email my save, they will kill it in hours.

This game CS inspired without being clone. One does give tutorial which is currently little rough..but least will tell you how mechanics functions as you naturally play the game. But it will still keep you in the dark how to response to threat. So this will be problem for the iron man mode down the line. One if you get bad luck of the draw currently in the game state you maybe not able to come back from it. This could end your run in less then five minutes. Which does need to be balance but it is early access. I would recommend by making place that heal easier to get.

Dragon Creek

Dragon Creek

Before I get into this review, I will definitely state that this game is honestly not for everyone. In fact, the game is very niche- which is not a criticism, but it is something to mind when contemplating purchasing this game.

The game is very simple, but its simplicity is the beauty of it. You can generate a dragon at the shrine, train it up, battle it, and rank it up.

If someone is looking for a farm simulator with dragon training, this is not that game. The farm can be upgraded, but all upgrades pertain to improving your dragon’s situation. The only thing remotely akin to farming is purchasing the plot upgrades- which you cannot place yourself- so you can grow your own food so you do not need to buy food for your dragon as often from the food stand.

Wow, Dragon Creek. Where to begin…

It’s so adorable! It’s a simple, cute game about raising your own dragon. You have 4 different species that you can get, them being the European Dragon, the Eastern (Lung) Dragon, the Cat-Lung, and the Wyvern. There will be more species on the way too, so keep an eye out. The dragons can be generated through a randomizer or you can put “codes” in to create your own. (Hint: Try messing around with specific dragon names…) You feed, pet, and wash your dragon in this game.

Fantasy Quest Solitaire

Fantasy Quest Solitaire

Fantasy Quest Solitaire is an excellent solitaire game. It is refreshing to play a solitaire game that isn’t a grind fest. There are 100 levels, which is much more pleasurable than playing 200 or even 300 levels! All the achievements are possible without being an agony of playing the game over and over again like Fairie Solitaire.

It was a pleasant surprise to find Match 3, Hidden Object, and Jigsaw puzzle levels in the mix. I estimate about 20 of the 100 levels are of this variety. None of the levels are timed, which is a plus for me. A fun addition was collecting stickers for gold points throughout the game. The sticker drops were random but you will get them all.

Fantasy Quest Solitaire

An enjoyable, if rather easy, version of solitaire with a mixture of mini games and with just 100 levels proves to be shorter than most of the genre.

Pros:

👍 Relaxing

👍 Nice sounds and visuals

👍Meaningful achievements

👍I liked the fact it was shorter – It didn’t outstay its welcome.

Cons:

👎 Too easy for seasoned veterans of the genre

First Impressions

Fantasy Quest solitaire proves to be a polished and professional effort with great tunes, visuals and a variety of mini games to keep you busy for 8 hours.

Mother of All Secrets

Mother of All Secrets

Mother of All Secrets is an RPG full of occult mysteries, investigations, and intrigue. Become a young ward at an old and remote orphanage. Live your new life for fourteen days as the enigmatic masters of the House prepare you and your mates for the impending visit of the mysterious Guest.

The House’s walls conceal a small world of stories, plans, and conspiracies. Every hour is fateful here. Decide where to go, what events to participate in, which goals to pursue, and who you should influence. Will you be ready to learn the ultimate truth on the last night of your stay at the House?

A Living Breathing House

Become a part of the close-knit community of the orphanage. Other wards, your teachers, caretakers, and even the family of House owners — behind every living soul, there are goals, plans, and desires. With every hour, individual plots progress, secrets unfold, and choices are made that alter the House forever.

Your Own Story

Create your own character and live out a unique story — only you decide how to spend each and every hour. Go about uncovering the asylum’s secrets however you like. Make friends or enemies at your own discretion. Explore the darkest and most dangerous corners of the House. Unravel other people’s schemes and draw up your own plans. Obey or risk breaking the cryptic rules that govern the orphanage and face the consequences. What will you do with your freedom of choice?

High Stakes

Perform actions in every scene by playing cards. These cards determine your character’s skills, items, and even relationships. Different cards allow you to influence others, gain an upper hand during encounters, apply the knowledge and traits you have acquired, or push the narrative towards the desired outcome. Remember that other characters possess their own set of cards which they can play against you! Study the abilities and intentions of others before reshuffling their decks and transforming their personalities. How will you play your hand?

Death: The Ascension

Death: The Ascension

Certainly not for everyone, confusing at first, but has plenty of unique mechanics after you get past the learning curve

Update:

After a few ascensions, I have a better idea now how the mechanics and concepts fit into this creative new game developed by a very friendly and responsive indie-developer who has updated the game in quick response to suggestions on the discussion forum.

https://youtu.be/44Fzz7bToSo

What is it?

I would describe Death: The Ascension as a card/puzzle life-choice simulator in which you aim to optimize your chances of a successful ascension by manipulating event probabilities. It has a deck-building type of mechanic in which you add cards to your deck, but the deck is not a draw-deck. Cards in your “deck” influence the chances of drawing cards into the player’s five card hand from an infinite pool. In other words, if you have only one card in your “deck”, you have a 100% chance of drawing five cards of that type. You are playing cards against Death as your opponent. Death has their own deck that has similar draw mechanics, but only draws one card per turn. Each turn one card from each deck is played with four possible events dictated by the player’s card with varying probabilities for each event known ahead of time.

Hundred Days - Winemaking Simulator

Hundred Days - Winemaking Simulator

Time Played: 40Hrs

General Thoughts: Cute art, fun but unpolished niche game if you love spreadsheets, expensive for being unfinished

Pros:

  • Art is cute

  • Choices have consequences and you have to make adjustments every year

  • Each wine has its own personality and quirks to how to create it

  • I like having to make mistakes and suss out which wines have to be made which way

  • I like taking notes and refining my process

  • Chill game and late game is very relaxed

  • Devs are patching and incorporating suggestions

This game is everything you’re looking for in a wine management sim, with some fatal UI and design flaws that prevent it from being good. It is a highly complex game with a nuanced engine for deciding the quality of your wines - so many variables both plannable and random have to be contended with to make great wine. Even the progression as you get familiar with winemaking and grow your winery and its capacity is interesting. The game introduces you to its mechanisms via a cute little campaign that is enjoyable but unfortunately only does the most basic job of informing you how to work things. And now the flaw…

Written for 1561’s Thoughts - Honest reviews, for busy people.

In Her Eyes is a visual novel / card game with interesting gameplay but a not-so-great translation. It’s understandable, but at times the dialogue becomes rather clunky. The rhythm aspect is fun. 6/10
