All Hail The Cook-o-tron

Incredibly fun game to play. My self, the Mrs and the nephews all love playing this game. Levels get harder as you play through and the graphics are perfect for the type of game. Some boss levels can be a real challenge but it is what makes this so fun.

This was exactly the kind of cooking game I was hoping to play in VR and it did not disappoint. Lots of recipes and should have plenty of replayability (especially with the arcade mode that’s coming). Excited to see what updates the developer brings! Totally worth price of admission now.

Asteroid Impact Survival

Asteroid Impact Survival

Asteroid Impact is a simulation game where you have to prepare yourself for the end of the world. With your own hands, you must get resources and build a shelter that can withstand a world-shattering crash.

You may be the only survivor.

A huge asteroid is approaching Earth. You have only 30 days to prepare yourself for the apocalypse. You have to be fully prepared before living on the planet becomes a nightmare.

There’s no stores, no other people who could help you. You must earn supplies yourself hunting in the woods and collecting edible plants and mushrooms available nearby.

Use what you can to build a bunker that will survive an asteroid attack. The more resistant it gets, the longer you’ll be able to survive.

Your bunker is your new home now. Stay alert and take care of it – it’s the only safe space which separates you from the dangerous environment outside. Repair and arrange your shelter so that it protects you and is as cozy as possible in these difficult, rough times.

  • Dig, get materials and build your own shelter

  • Harvest and hunt to collect your food supplies

  • Repair and arrange your bunker in most sufficient and comfortable way

  • Prepare for the apocalypse in 30 days

Your life is in your own hands.

Hunted: Survive the Night

Hunted: Survive the Night

Survive the night.

In Hunted: Survive the Night you play as 1 monster vs up to 4 survivors. Trapped in an unknown location the survivors has to find and play 6 haunted music boxes until the song finishes. Doing so opens the gates out to the foggy path, waiting for your freedom. The survivors aren’t completely helpless as they can find weapons laying around, this doesn’t damage the killer, but stuns it instead. Giving the survivors a small window to escape and hide. Remember not to linger for too long. If time runs out before you escape, the gates will close forever and will take your life at the same time.

This is first person only for both the killer and the survivors. Hunted is focusing on realism and horror. Hunted is primarily based on luck, teamwork, sounds and most importantly. Stealth. So be careful of using that flashlight of yours.

Killers and Survivors.

The survivors and killers all have their own unique ability to use. There can only be one type of survivor at a time, and be quick. When everyone is ready, pick your character. Because the game starts as soon as you can choose your survivor or killer. The killer and the survivor also has their own stats, such as speed, stamina, damage, and so on.

Environment.

The objective, spawns and firearms are randomized. The survivors can get really lucky by finding the objectives close to each other, or really unlucky. The survivors can also get lucky by more objectives spawning, since the amount of objectives is randomized. You only need to finish 6 of the music boxes, but there can spawn everything from 8, all the way up to 13 if you are really lucky. The same is with the firearms, except that the amount is from 2-6.

Leveling

Each character and monster has their own levels. Level up your character to get cosmetics and perks, making your character better each play.

Necrolepsy

Necrolepsy

(Disclosure: I am friends with the developer)

Necrolepsy is a fun throwback to ’90s action-platformers. The plot is straightforward: bounty hunter Lira must find and defeat a trio of necromancers to end a curse that makes her constantly suffer from nightmares that then come to life. In-game, this curse is represented by a timer which, upon reaching zero, makes all the enemies' attacks stronger while your attacks become weaker. Only by finding a place to stop and rest can you reset the timer and/or end the nightmare.

I generally haven’t played a lot of Castlevania or Metroid games beforehand, but something that sets Necrolepsy apart from those two series is that it doesn’t feel like a Castlevania or Metroid title. To me, it felt more like a Zelda 2, but with an emphasis on the combo heavy mechanics. However, I wouldn’t outright state that Necrolepsy has direct takes from Zelda 2, but they definitely feel there. Necrolepsy’s core mechanic is a time-based counter at the right-hand corner, which keeps track of how much time you have left until Lira falls asleep and has a nightmare. As far as I am concerned, when a nightmare occurs, everything is twice as harder. Enemies have a buff, requiring more damage and do more damage to you. It’s a mechanic I don’t often see, and in a way, it’s very interesting. It’s almost like I have to do a speedrun to get to the next save point throughout the game, and to me, that’s something I affectionately enjoy.

At first the game was fun, with all of the obstacles and everything. But after the 5th level, everything became more of a headache instead of entertainment. Not to mention, all of the achievements seem to require a 3 star rating, which was not specified. And since all of the levels become extremely difficult and tedious, you can’t get the achievements. Also, the achievement “Ultimate Scrapbooker” does not unlock even when finishing the game.

School Bus Fun

School Bus Fun

Short version: 66%

School Bus Fun is too complex for a child, too childish for an adult, too fast for a service industry game, and too random for a resource management game. Yet somehow it’s still fun to some degree.

Long version:

School Bus Fun is a service industry game (the sub-genre started by Diner Dash), where your goal is to use your car to transport an increasing number of children to their local school. With this theme and graphics, one would assume this game is made for children to train their memory and help with their hand-eye coordination. While School Bus Fun indeed does all those things, maybe it also overdid it a notch.

REVIEW

School Bus Fun is an interesting, casual, puzzle game that will test your time-management and logistical-planning abilities. It is a truly casual game, and even at the end levels it will be easy to “pass” each level; however, to get 3-stars in later levels can be quite a challenge and will require perfect planning and execution in real time. It is a very basic game, with little depth; but it is a great game for situations where you want to play something that isn’t overly immersive and is easy to put down.

Time Gap Puppies

Time Gap Puppies

I like what I’ve played of it, but unfortunately it constantly crashes and ruins my runs, meaning that I unfortunately cannot recommend the game in it’s current state.

If these bugs are fixed, I will be more than happy to play the game again, and possibly re-review it.

12 Labours of Hercules XI: Painted Adventure

12 Labours of Hercules XI: Painted Adventure

I’m a huge fan of the series but I wish they’d get rid of the 1/2 mechanic completely. It simply kills player creativity and pushes you to a certain pattern where you have to memorize and not miss a single move or you fail. Not cool

Too many tasks to complete to achieve gold level for each level of game and I play casual mode ! Not enough time for each level. Waited a long while for this edition of the Hercules games and will not play again once I’ve completed all levels.
