Arboria

Arboria

It’s a fun, rogue like 3D game, centered around melee primarily, but with abilities that complement the gameplay and really help switch it up. It borrows a bit of mechanics from some other games, like dark souls - and has 3 different movement setups; light/medium/heavy, where dodging and rolling is slower or not able to be done as often with the heavier variant of armor.

The three “builds” are separated into Toughness, Strength, and Focus. Toughness is intended to be the tankiest, and features disgustingly slow weapons that tend to have enormous reach. It tends to require the usage of heavy armor for stability to stop enemy attacks from interrupting yours (it’s really bad when your very slow/high damage attack isn’t able to connect / keeps getting stopped).

EDIT: Release update added a page for info on items so my biggest issue is fixed. They also added in an option for the frequency of Rava’s voice-lines which is another great addition, I actually kind of like hearing them now. Dev team has my praise.

Arboria is probably the best souls-like/rogue-lite game available right now. Admittedly that is not a massive pool of games, but even so Arboria stands out as a delight.

Was curious to see what some of the negative reviews were, since I love the game so much. Saw some clown who shit themselves over there being a ~10 minute tutorial, and someone else made some valid points about a lot of the sound files and cut scenes still being somewhat buggy for a game coming to full release but then ruined it by saying weapons feel like they have no impact. Weapon hits are satisfying as FUCK in this game, and many of the “spells” are as well.

Well I guess I have the job of posting the first english review on this game. I bought Hani because Im obsessed with roguelike games and this one seemed relatively polished for its early state. And I have to say, I was quite impressed. Hani is still very much in “alpha” as the UI is very basic, there’s no real story, structure, or “tone” set yet. However, that which is present is surprisingly fun. The graphics are clean and easy to read (mostly), the combat is pretty fun and can get frantic, and all of the moves are quite varied. Thats all one can ask for at this stage in development. If youve seen this game pop up and avoided it due to the lack of reviews, I would say give it a go, especially if youre a roguelike nerd too. I would really like to see this game get some popularity so the devs can flesh it out more thoroughly.

Current state needs a bit of work and more content, but other than usual ironing out because of Early Access, the game is definitely fun! It’s a blast when you get item synergies, and the new level up system is really great for constructing a play-style build.

There are currently three weapons: The Katana, Sword/Shield, and Greatsword. Each play differently mainly in attack moves, range, and speed, and each has different variants (though most variants are shared such as “Katana of Power” and “Greatsword of Power”). I am not sure if each weapon has different Attack power for the shared variants though AKA Greatsword does 50 damage while Sword/Shield does 25. I believe there are two more weapon types planned, though me being a Greedy-Gus would like a few more.

I don’t usually write reviews and I wasn’t going to write one for this game, until it left early access.

Circumstances, however, have changed and the game has had to leave early access before the development team was ready to do so, which is why the game is considered incomplete and abandoned.

I’ve been playing the game since its closed beta test and thus I am in a position to directly compare the two versions to give you a clearer picture of what has been achieved and what has not.

When the game had its beta test, it consisted of only two areas and two characters. The starting area and the library, along

The game mechanics are really fun, possessing bodies and powering up ghost boy (the prince) to make your stronger bodies more durable and hit harder is a satisfying process.

Personal/Technical issues:

I clip through the map sometimes, but that is easily remedied with the ability to warp to past shrines and shops etc. Rarely happens, but can be jarring when it does.

All the bodies are viable, but the power distinction can be noticed. (slashers are for example, able to hook enemies, turn around and pull them towards you, exposing their back for pretty much a free kill.)

I’ve enjoyed the game and finished it a few times. The gameplay at the start is quite different than once you get some skills. It’s actually hardest at the start and I think many people might be turned off by the game due to the high initial difficulty.

My biggest tip to anyone who buys this game is to persevere until you at least unlock the mines skill. The main problem early on is that you will get surrounded by enemies and it will be difficult to parry everyone. I recommend using a controller over keyboard too.

The Sperminator: Rescuing Tzar Vlad

Given the fact that the project is developing, this is a great game in its genre of indie RPG!

11 levels are sweet for everyone)

Pleasantly surprised by the variety of weapons, items and locations, this I clearly did not expect.

Also, preparing for the battle with the boss, collecting totems, you will definitely have time to enjoy the gameplay.

In general, I recommend!

2021/09/22 added: Thanks to dev’s reply, I confirmed that operability with gamepad (I used Dualshock 4) is alright. However, this game has some bugs such as stack in a wall by teleport into it, repair station’s UI scale is not fixed for each resolution (My graphic setting was low quality and 1280*720p). And I want to be able to change button layout of gamepad as well as keyboard.

Although this game needs a lot of improvements for accessibility, game mechanics such as changing stats by sacrificing other stats, able to attack as well as evade enemy attack with teleport are unique and interesting. So, I’m looking forward to further update.

I really like to play this game, but in it’s current state, I cant even start the first wave.

You have to move with:

Q - Left

D - Right

Really unconfortable, and you can’t change keybinds as of now. Seems bugged.

It’s a great pleasure to meet DanMachi as a game!ヽ(=´▽'=)ノ

[1] Intro

DanMachi. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Infinite Combate. This is an anime character game produced by Mages and published by PQube. It is based on the popular Japanese light novel. The light novel is a popular novel category, and generally refers to a novel in the form of a small plate with illustrations in Japanese manga style. Thanks to the popularity of the original work, DanMachi, an animation series was aired as well, and eventually it was also released as a game. If so, how about DanMachi in the game? Let’s take a look at it with Nyanco-chan! (ฅ’ω’ฅ)

I do have to make an important point, before getting to the meat of my review. I play Danmachi Memoria Freeze on my phone, where I’m the captain of a fairly high ranked familia in my own right, I own all the books that have been released on the U.S. side of the pond so far, and I own Seasons 1 and 2 of the anime, as well as the Sword Oratoria anime. So I will freely admit to being somewhat biased in favor of the material that was used as the base, here. That said, I don’t much care, and if a game sucks, I will say so. With that in mind, here we go…
