The stage where the story takes place is atmospheric and scary, and the diary in the game is also terrifying. There are also various riddles and gimmicks to solve, making it fun to explore. And Eve is so cute. The way she hides from enemies is Eve-like and very good. I’m looking forward to the next chapter.

This is my first impression of the game since as of right now, only Chapter 1 is available while the rest of the game will come as time passes. Once the game is complete, my opinions may be subjected to change and then and only then will I give a grade.

When I read that this game is inspired by Ib and The Witch’s House, it made me want to play this game for this October as I already planned on reliving all my favorite RPGMaker Horror games on said month; And that’s what I did, saving LIRE for last. As I played LIRE, it was a treat seeing some similarities with the other games I recently replayed.

Beyond Good and Evil™

Beyond Good and Evil™

About The Game

Beyond Good & Evil, published by Ubisoft in 2003. Where do I start with this game? First off, I want to say that this is a good PC port. It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done. I will explain why later. What’s the premise to this game? You play as Jade, a reporter who lives with her pig-uncle Pey’j, taking care of orphans on your lighthouse reservation. In this planet called Hillys, Hillyans fight for survival as evil DomZ, alien-like creatures, take over the planet. A combat force called the Alpha Sections has been sent to fight back the DomZ, but when the Alpha Sections fail to show up during attacks, a suspicious Jade goes undercover for a resistance force called IRIS to see what the Alpha Sections are really up to. Camera in hand, you participate in various undercover missions to expose the Alpha Sections for who they really are.

Beyond good and evil - это классическое игровое приключение, сделанное с душой, во времена когда у юбисофта еще была душа…

Blades of Time

Blades of Time

If I had to describe this game with one word, that would be: FUN!

Successfully blending elements from games like Prince of Persia, Bloodrayne, Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry and God of War, Blades of Time accomplishes quite a lot, considering it came almost out of nowhere (except a prequel, of sorts) and from a mostly unknown gaming company.

The game greatly manages to establish its world and lore, without weighing too much on them: the story is centered on an adventure guild, which, through a magic sphere operated by its guildmaster, sends its members in a remote mythical island called Dragonland, that is rumored to contain many treasures, as well as dangers.

Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae

Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae

It’s not too often than I walk down the street and decide that my life plagued by the lack of indie hack and slashes in my life, but whenever I am Steam is there to save the day with a hanky, a knife, and a picture of a waifu.

In Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae, a very SEO friendly name, you play as a Mitsurugi out to Kamui Hikae. Probably just means Blade Templar Maiden, haven’t the foggiest.

Your stages are all various flavours of circle and your combat is aiming to hack and slash with the best of them. Why, you’ve got your launchers, your forward and neutral ground combos, your alt combo and your weird katana meter that dictates how much katana you can katana. That can be upgraded to 9 separate full magic bars.

It’s a fun game. Really fun in my opinion. It’s a stylish arena hack and slash game. If you’re a fan of stuff like anime, you’ll probably think the combat is awesome. You slash up enemies with your sword at hyper-fast speeds and as you sheathe your sword, they all fall down, instantly dead. It’s pretty cool.

The graphics aren’t anything mind-blowing, but it looks pretty good and gets the job done. Honestly, it could have been all stick figure people and the game would hold up just as well. The real strength of the game is in mastering the combat. The main character, Misa, and her nemesis, Suzuka, both look well animated. Many reviews/comments seem extremely focused on the fact that you get glimpses of panties, but the combat is so fast paced that I’ve never really noticed. The enemies all look kinda bland, besides the bosses. They are mostly just robot businessmen (I guess…) with a few different colored suits. I suppose the giant robot enemies look kinda cool, too.

An updated version of our Halloween demo is now available to download and play!

We’re a very small team in the middle of development so any feedback is greatly appreciated - more information on our dev log!

The island of Summerford was the site of the United Kingdom’s first nuclear power station, and a popular family tourist destination.

In 1986, a catastrophic reactor failure occurred at the nuclear plant. Following a botched evacuation effort, the island of Summerford was placed into a complete and permanent quarantine.

For 34 years, no civilian has stepped foot on Summerford.

Until now.

  • Classic Survival Horror: Inspired by the “golden age” of survival horror classics like the original Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark, Summerford is a third person action adventure game with fixed perspective cameras and a careful mix of combat, exploration and puzzle solving.

  • Modernised Gameplay: Summerford is inspired by the classics but not beholden to them. With a more accessible and subtle UI, the choice between traditional “tank” and modernised controls & many gameplay tweaks created to bring Survival Horror into the 21st century and remove the frustration of the older games.

  • Explore Summerford: Reclaimed by nature and abandoned to time, the island of Summerford is ripe for exploration. From the silence of the quaint village streets to the haunted beauty of the Dream Valley theme park, there’s a wide variety of interesting and unique locations to discover.

  • Discover the island’s Secrets: Unravel the mystery of the Summerford nuclear disaster, meet the remaining residents of the island and face far more personal demons in a focused, narrative horror experience.

Tomb Raider is very much similar to Uncharted, though in some ways better and in some ways worse. Depending on what you want this could be good or bad. Uncharted has better story telling and production values, whereas Tomb Raider has much better variety of gameplay and level design.

In TR there are 4 weapons you can carry on you: bow, pistol, machine gun, shotgun as well as a pickaxe for a melee weapon. Actually, the pickaxe, bow, and technically shotgun are all used in many of the platforming/puzzle elements as well. Very good design. There are also alternate firing modes for every weapon (the pistol is DLC though), skills to be unlocked, and upgrades for weapons. This game is like if somebody took the Uncharted idea, but wanted to add more gameplay elements to make it more fun.

Tomb Raider: Legend

Tomb Raider: Legend

[EN]

I did it! I started playing the older trilogy (Legend, Anniversary, Underworld) and now I’ve left Legend behind.

TR 1-6 I did not play and therefore can not make a comparison in terms of content.

The goal of my TR trip is the redesign of the TR series, which I’m really looking forward to inside.

Now let’s get to my actual review of Tomb Raider - Legend:

I played the game on medium difficulty.

Scope / atmosphere / story: (no spoiler)

All chapters tell a coherent and well-designed story. Lara is caught by her past when she goes in search of sword fragments. Lara Croft gets around a lot: Bolivia, Japan

11 years ago, I played Tomb Raider: Legend for the very first time, fell in love immediately when Lara dived into clouds, grabbed the edge of the cliff, rose elegantly with a floor exercise move from the cliff…Then I was brought to the wilds of Bolivia, so the journey began.

11 years later, for the affection I had with her, I enjoyed it once more to bring the nostalgia I had in Nepal. I knew I was seeking the long lost memory which still lying in the heart of mountain Himalayan sedately. As always, true love never fades, I remember you, Legend, so much about you…

Tomb Raider: Underworld

Tomb Raider: Underworld

Underworld is the ending to the Tomb Raider revival of the mid 2000’s, which was helmed by the folks at Crystal Dynamics. It concludes the central plot thread of Tomb Raider Legend: finding Lara’s mother, whilst introducing the villain of Anniversary (The Tomb Raider 1 remake) into the fray: Natla.

From the start, you can tell this game has a much more ambitious scope. Past the tutorial level, every other level takes place in large, open environments with freedom of movement far beyond anything presented in “Legend”. Whereas Legend had smaller, linear levels with a sizable emphasis on combat and action segments, Underworld eliminates all of that and focuses on large, open environments with more complexity to their puzzles. There’s also more actual tombs in Underworld than Legend, which took place mostly in urban environments and buildings.

Tomb Raider: Underworld takes you on an adventure through Norse mythology to find the lost island of Avalon. Beautiful levels, fun gameplay, exploration, and amazing visuals make this game a beloved addition to the series and truly worthy of the name Tomb Raider.

Gameplay

  • Puzzles

  • Fun traversal/climbing

  • Beautiful variety of levels and locations

  • Easy combat

  • Puzzles can be irritating when you have to pick up items

  • Repetitive and sometimes frustrating combat

Tomb Raider VI: The Angel of Darkness

Tomb Raider VI: The Angel of Darkness

A flawed, but good game.

A lot of reviews of Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness critziese verious aspects of the game, such as the awakward controls, gameplay bugs and the darker nature of lara. None of these reviews give a background to why it has all of these flaws. This isnt really going to be a review of the game. I would recomend reading other reviews to find out about the acual game. This is just for players to read and to take into mind why the game has all these flaws.

Here’s the backstory to why the game was rushed (which I have adatpted from Wikipeda - I won’t tell if you don’t ;) )

Real player with 25.8 hrs in game

Tomb Raider (VI): The Angel of Darkness is the worst thing ever made by a human. I honestly think it’s the most horrible game I’ve ever played. The Boaz boss fight was like playing Dark Souls with bad controls and slow movement and there are so many graphical glitches that the game feels like it’s being held together by paper mache.

The movement is sluggish and unreliable to the point of bafflement that it could even reach this level of terribleness. Simple acts such as picking up items, opening doors and jumping small ledges become challenging tasks. It’s truly a unique situation when simply moving your character around is a challenging mini-game within the game itself.
