MDK2 HD

MDK2 HD

MDK 2 is a fantastic game, but the HD version is just a lazy update with much wasted potential. This should have been the definitive version of MDK2 and not a version which is better just in some ways. You should play the original first and then maybe later the HD version.

Positive: The graphics look beautiful in HD and widescreen. It looks better than the original.

Negative:

  • Mostly this game is in widescreen, but some parts switch to 4:3.

  • The loading screens depicted fictional MDK 2 comicbook covers (at least one is a parody of a classic Marvel issue). This was part of the charme of this game, which made it funny and unique. In this HD version, the loading times are so fast that you have no chance to see the comicbook covers, which is really a shame.

DO NOT i repreat DO NOT buy this peice of buggy crap

Starting the game you get a black screen which i managed to get over by moving it into windowed mode… ok right?

No the rest of the game is buggy aswell. some bugs could be ‘forgiveable’ to an extent like sound bugs (alltho they ruin the atmosphere by quite some)

Since i was an avid fan of MDK2 i managed to let the nostalgia wash me over and ignore them…untill well LAST FUKIN' BOSS

when you reach his final stage he is unkillable because his brain’s health bar keep resetting . i also had a bug where i was stuck inside his body and had to start over the whole fight…

Overlord™

Overlord™ Review

Overlording awaits sire… The fields are planted; peasants are cowering in fear, all in anticipation of your arrival…

Some key points that this game offers:

  1. Dark humour

  2. RPG like no other…

  3. Hordes of minions at your disposal.

  4. Magic, mayhem and chaos.

  5. A Tale of revenge, justice and general enemy bashing.

Gameplay & Controls:

The controls are quite simple, you can use a controller or your keyboard and mouse, the game however offers only partial controller support for the PC version. The keyboard and mouse are both used for gameplay with the mouse acting as your eyes, pointing in the way you want to look and go. The LFM used to send your minions out, and the RMB to call them back, holding both of them down you sweep your minions in the direction you want them to go. The mouse wheel can be used to scroll through your different minion types, and the numbers above the alphabetical keys.

Overlord is a deep game with even deeper nostalgic connections but so sadly overlooked even by myself for the longest time. If you’re looking for an old game that still lives up to standards today, or if you just want a basic RPG collectathon that you can occupy yourself for hours with, at the price it is Overlord will meet every expectation and hope you could ever wish for. I couldn’t recommend this more, this is one incredible, criminally underrated RPG you don’t want to miss.

This game had it’s 10th birthday this year, I only played it for the first time a few years back and have made it my yearly tradition to come back around this time of year (October - December) to replay Overlord + Raising hell. I got this game years prior in a bundle of some kind for about 90p/just over $1. After neglecting to play it for ages I finally got round to it and for that amount of money it blew my mind - even for the average price it is on here now (£3.50) it’s an absolute steal.

Agents of Mayhem

Agents of Mayhem

TL; DR : Yes, the game could have been awesome, it’s a shame that it’s merely very good. Do I recommend it ? Hell yeah !

Let’s first address the main crticism against this game : “It’s not Saints Row”. Well, it’s not SUPPOSED to be Saints Row, even though it has ties to its universe, so if you expect it to be anything like Saints Row, you WILL be disapointed. If you can, however, take it as a new game instead of trying to make a sequel out of it, below are a few things you should know.

Then, the second crticism : Denuvo. It has been removed by the latest patch. There you go.

“Sh*t. Oh Hell, let’s just do what we always do - hijack some nuclear weapons and hold the world hostage, yeah?”

~Dr. Evil

  • SIGH * OK, one day, guys. One day I’ll find that motr who invented this kind of video games. I mean, the problem with Agents of Mayhem is not the fact that it isn’t what most of us wanted from Volition. Sure, old farts like yours truly wanted FreeSpace 3 and Summoner 3. Some other people hoped for a proper new Red Faction, while most of us just wanted another Saints Row. Because… you know how it is. Even though some Xbox 360 owners still miss the times when Saints Row was just a GTA clone with somewhat serious tone, most of the players enjoyed the crazy new look we’ve got in Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV. I mean, for those of us who prefer serious tone, there’s always GTA, while new Saints Row? It was fun in its own unique way. The world needs that crazy GTA with cheesy laughs. Unfortunately, back in 2013, Volition was purchased by Koch Media GmbH (Deep Silver) a-a-a-nd… that’s where our motr comes in. Some smartass there was like “No-no-no! Saints Row can wait! There’s that new kind of action games and we need one of those!”.

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell

I am a big fan of the Saints Row franchise and have been a fan since Saints Row: The Third. Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV. The two aforementioned games had great humor and lots of action. Gat Out of Hell is an expansion of the franchise that is much shorter in content, but has some entertainment value.

Those who played Saints Row IV should feel quite familiar with Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell. The open world design and gameplay mechanics are very similar in Saints Row IV and Gat Out of Hell. All the super jumps and gliding in Saints Row IV turns into flying with wings. You can buy wing flaps as a way of upgrading your flying abilities. Given enough practice, you can gain exciting speeds and it feels quite different than gliding in Saints Row IV. Flying also makes collecting soul clusters exhilarating. The soul clusters are similar to those clusters in Saints Row IV and are necessary for upgrading your arcane powers which are similar to Saints Row IV’s super powers.

Disclaimer: I worked at Volition for 4 years, however that was about 8 years ago. I worked on Saints Row 2 and it was my first job in the games industry. However I paid for this game (And in fact paid for it twice), have not had a connection to the series since Saints Row 2, and while I know some of the people still at the company, I do not believe that reflects on this review. I am only including this in the interest of disclosure.

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell is the fifth Saints Row game, and the first to not be fully developed by Volition. It’s also the first one not numbered, and also the first one that doesn’t have a strong narrative throughout missions.

Ankh - Anniversary Edition

Ankh - Anniversary Edition

Ankh is a fun romp of a point and click adventure game, a bit challenging, a lot tongue in cheek, and a tad 4th wall breaking. The song and dance about girls and hair is hysterical.

Game: Assil manages to get a death curse and now he must break it. Follow his adventure from breaking out of his house (He is grounded), dealing with a man eating crocodile, goofy palace guards, looney market merchants (and a very talkative slave), rescuing a damsel with attitude (Thara), some palace intrigue (and the pharoah’s daughter), a missing caravan leader, and finally the underworld and Osiris, the Lord of the Underworld.

Really fun old-school point and click game. And by “old-school” I mean it is appaently a remaster of the original game released in 2005.

Yep. It is a 12 year old game. So don’t expect it to run well on a PCMasterRace Windows 10 Beast rig with a 21:9 or 4k multiple monitor set up.

It runs great on a Windows 7 toaster. Which actualy surprised me, being that it was developed for Windows 2000, Windows XP. I did not need to set Win 7 to XP compatibility, but newer rigs than my 6 year old one may need to run the game in XP compatibility mode. The game does not have settings to adjust like modern, next-gen games. Because the game was developed in the early 2000’s. When most computers were so similar, they were not needed. So, stop complaining if you can’t get it to run well on your $6000 Beast Rig. The game was made to play on Legacy machines.

Played for some time and only experienced 1 cash ( 3hr mark) it’s never good when a game crashes but I knew what I was getting into when I bought this game. Been playing it nonstop since i purchased it today and i’ve enjoyed the experience over all. There really is nothing to lose if you buy it on steam if your game is still broken after doing all the fixes you find online just get a refund. (save your game constantly)

One of the best game made by Rockstar. Bought three times (on ps2, then ps3 and now on PC) and I never regret it. Loved the story, loved Jimmy and all characters. It hasn’t aged well, on W10 It needs third party mods to work and It’s a shame. Definitely needs and deserve a remaster OR A FREAKING SEQUEL!

Kick-Ass 2

Kick-Ass 2

Kick-Ass 2 has decent cartoon-like visuals, with cell-shading effects and all that jazz. However, it’s the only solid positive point about the game. It’s a short beat’em up, which was supposed to go the same road as Watchmen: The End is Nigh 5 years before. However, it fails at being a fighting game thanks to god-awful controls, unbalanced and buggy brawl process, and lack of any possible fan-service things someone would expect from following-the-movie-title.

Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass himself ain’t sound or look like themselves (comparing to Chloë Moretz and Aaron Johnson characters).

If you are looking for a terrible example of licensed shovelware, here it, Kick-Ass 2, the stinky king of the trash hill.

Released over a year after the second movie bombed in theaters, Freedom Factory decided to grace the gaming scene with this piece of interactive entertainment, but forgoing anything that has to do with actual fun and entertainment.

Here is the shit list:

-Absolutely horrendous voice over on all the main characters, especially Kick-Ass himself who sounds like an annoying Spanish kid trying his hardest to fit in The Hamptons. I imagine the conversation that occurred at Freedom Factory went like this: Producer: “Great job on the Spanish voice over, you brought out the vigilante in you. So, can you do the English, Italian and German too?” VO: “Uh, well, you know.. Product: “Excellent, I’ll schedule you for a couple more hours. Jorgeeeee! We’re good on localization! Cancel the American’s contract.”

Pain Party

Pain Party

Story

After an unfortunate mini golf accident (which led to your immediate demise) you wake up in purgatory.

This is not the classical purgatory that we’ve all read about, but instead is a Japanese game show where the winners get to ascend and the losers get to spend an eternity moderating online forums without any kind of monetary compensation.

About the game

Pain Party combines that madness of a party game with the mechanics of a souls like and precision jumping.

You can either play PvP with up to 16 players or play offline in the single player mode, where you have to beat levels to unlock further progression.

Join the discord!

Gameplay

Stamina management and Item usage

The first thing you need to learn is that everything in pain party costs stamina, from jumping, punching, dodging, to even using items.

If you run out of stamina you won’t be able to do any of that above and you’ll also walk slower so keep a close eye on that stamina meter.

There a lot of ways to get the upper hand in Pain Party, spawn-able items are one such thing.

You might find anything from blunderbusses to time stopping hour glasses.

Precision jumping

Jumping in Pain Party isn’t like in other games. Holding the jump button will make you do high but short jumps, while tapping the jump button will make you do long horizontal jumps.

Progress and unlock

Winning multiplayer matches and progressing in story mode will help you unlock skins for your character.

Features

  • Single player story mode

  • Up to 16 players online free-for-all

  • Demanding levels that will test your skills and endurance

  • Painful boss battles

  • Physics based pain

  • Precise movement and combat

  • Special item pickups to give the upper hand

  • Unlockable hats/masks
