My Experience

On paper, Subterene “checks a lot of my boxes.” I liked the game’s unique aesthetic and interface, it’s advertised short run-time, and the idea of slowly piecing together this mystery that has occurred beneath the floor of the ocean.

Unfortunately, playing Subterene is a slog. The game gives you very little direction while you stumble upon probes and bumble from one mining depot to the next. For some this may make the game a true “exploration” game, but not for me when the act of exploring itself is so tedious. The speed at which your mining vehicle drills, turns, and accelerates is just PAINFUL. This is only exacerbated when your vehicle becomes caught on some small piece of a block, which happens ALL THE TIME.

The most accurate Fish life sim around. Select from our pool of fishy fighters and arm yourself for the greatest battle never fought.

If you get on too well with your friends and loved ones then take a hearty gulp of Fish Tanks. You’ll see the effects almost immediately as you start to scream at your best friend who donated you their kidney and demand starfish from the woman who birthed you as you chase her through the beautifully designed maps, armed with a tank, a grappling hook, and some power-ups.

Now the addictively savage fun begins! Get your toes wet by slipping into the Starfish Frenzy game mode - with more content set to be released post-launch.

Launch a crusade on the opposing team and race against your friends (or foes) to be the first to fill your base with starfish… at any cost.

If the powerups aren’t successful at keeping your opponent’s fins off your starfish then why not try slapping the controller out of their hands?
