Roguebook Wanted to hold off reviewing it until I beat +15. If you’re looking for a new deckbuilder, I’d recommend this one. I’ve played Slay the Spire, Monster Train, and a few others, and this one really made me want to thoroughly complete it. There is enough variety and unique combinations that really makes each run fun and challenging. It’s not perfect (I’ll talk about that below), but it’s worth the coin....
Vault of the Void Challenging, fair, and fun deckbuilder that respects your time and brings meaningfully novel mechanics to the genre. Vault of the Void doesn’t feel like early access, yet I am excited that it is. When I started my very first game of Vault of the Void, I wasn’t sure if it would click with me. I needed to see depth, but at first there was only complexity....
Vivid Knight This is a cute roguelite and auto-chess crossover. It’s very strategy-focused, and the difficulty makes it quite addictive, but some balance issues begin to detract from enjoyment once you’re deep in the game. The Good The core game play is roguelike, with your character exploring a maze and fighting monsters in turn-based auto-chess-esque combat. Each step consumes mana, a limited resource that refreshes on each floor, and your team begins taking damage when you run out of mana, forcing you to be efficient in your exploration....
ROUNDS A brilliant game with friends. I must have played 200+ matches and no two have been the same. Fights in Tight Spaces Always punch the shark. I’ve been playing this game since the Prologue, and now that a 1.0 release is on the brink of the horizon, I feel compelled to try and convey the experiences I’ve had playing it. The gameplay captivated me from day one - it was a great mix of positional and situational tactical battles with the additional layer of board-game-style deck management. There’s also some route-planning to consider, but it doesn’t weigh too heavily on the course of your runs - EXCEPT when tackling Daily Play for score maximization....
Poker Quest For reference, this is a game I’ve played for hundreds and hundreds of hours since late 2019, so it’s seen me through some times. At first, it was killing downtime doing research, then it was procrastination through exam times, now it’s more an evening waltz after work. I’ve also seen the game go through various changes and improvements and for me there’s a few things that are intrinsic - a baseline attraction....
Roll Roll is original and engaging. You roll dice to collect points, and use those points to upgrade your dice. The goal is to get the highest score possible in 2500 rolls. It is likely to be too ‘mathy’ for some - figuring out which upgrades will generate the most had me setting up spreadsheets. However, some players like that sort of thing and once I got my head around the upgrades (most of the upgrades, there are some I still don’t really understand), I found I could do pretty well playing from the gut - which is more fun for me....
HELLCARD Hellcard is a cooperative roguelike deckbuilder that can be played in both Singleplayer and Multiplayer modes. The game takes place in the paper dungeons known from Book of Demons, but its main mechanics revolve around deckbuilding and fast-paced tactical turn-based card battles. What makes HELLCARD unique and different from games such as Slay the Spire is that monster placement actually matters and can be used to your advantage. In HELLCARD we’re planning to support co-op battles with up to three heroes facing Archdemon’s hordes....
Crash The Core A wonderful little rogue lite and deck building game. The UI is fairly basic but the mechanics are great which is bigger deal to me than shiny UI. I like the monster art and it in just the few days I’ve been playing the publisher has updated it, and fixed some things/issues. I believe it is a tiny or even one person maker of the game. So given the great mechanics and publisher seems to be wanting to make improvements, IMO it is by far worth the price!...
