Manufactoria 2022 This is one of the best games in the zachlike genre that I’ve played. It beats every non-Zachtronics zachlike I can think of, and beats a bunch of Zachtronics games as well. The computational model in this game is just so rich despite its simplicity, that even 70 hours in, I can still discover new patterns that help me optimise a level or two. The original Manufactoria introduced me to this genre way back when, and this is a fantastic remake that improves on the original in every aspect....

WILD-9 Small, rough, and buggy - but nevertheless charming. Not unlike the asteroid you land on. Wild-9’s first playthrough should take you roughly half an hour, as it says in the description. Adding a speedrun achievement to this game, in my opinion, was a mistake. Your speedrun attempts will expose many of the flaws in this game. ! First, deleting your save and starting over is very likely to generate a broken seed that doesn’t spawn any enemies - you can check this almost immediately by noticing the absence of the first enemy you’re supposed to encounter....

Neon Noodles - Cyberpunk Kitchen Automation So much that I like about this game. I liked the idea of Overcooked, but it was always too frantic for me and in Neon Noodles I like taking time to plan and be an efficient chef. Designing the layout and instructions is intuitive and works well even with a controller. The UI is clean and clearly communicates, while still looking really good. Building something that works first, and then optimizing it based on the 3 categories (roughly space, time, and complexity) adds additional challenges....

Metal Wolf Chaos XD tl;dr: Arcade Armored Core. Fast, furious mech action with a ton of customization, lots of hidden depth, and a focus on old school arcade-style high score chasing and replayability. Yeah, yeah, President of the United States in a giant robot, blow up America for great justice. If you’re looking at this store page, you already know the bonkers pitch, and you probably know that the tone of the game really is as ridiculous as it sounds....

GB Rober A love letter to Mega Man except much shorter and much, MUCH more forgiving. Unless you’re playing with modifiers to make the game harder for you, you get infinite lives and a fair amount of checkpoints each stage. The game takes 1-2 hours to complete depending on your skill level. (I’m average so I died quite a bit, but not to the point of getting frustrated.) Since this is a fast-paced platformer, the game “feel” is probably the most important thing here, and GB Rober nails it....
