Best 1980s Real-Time with Pause Games on PC

Nadia Was Here At it’s heart, Nadia Was Here is a puzzle game. The description might say it’s an RPG, but if you don’t like lots and lots of puzzles, then thanks for your time, but this game is not for you. For everyone else, let me tell you about this awesome undiscovered gem. Nadia Was Here has two major gameplay features: the dungeons and the combat, which are both puzzle based, in my opinion....

Best 2.5D Real-Time with Pause Games on PC

Masquerada: Songs and Shadows Masquerada: Songs and Shadows really took me by surprise, it really did. The game claims to be a RPG but there are very few elements to support that claim, especially given the fact that the story is quite linear and there are no choices for you to make, you’re basically just watching how everything unfolds. That said, there is a lot to say about Masquerada, both good and bad, and I believe it’s a game that went under a lot of people’s radar and I truly believe it deserves a lot more exposure and credit than it has received....

Best 2D Real-Time with Pause Games on PC

Creeper World 2: Anniversary Edition Another classic I played many times on Kongregate.com. This takes the concept from the first game and gives you a sideview perspective rather than a top down, and it also adds new toys to destroy Creeper with. The missions get progressively harder as you go on and you aren’t always allowed the luxury of consolidating your power before going on the offensive. It’s a tactical and strategic masterpiece of a game wherein it seems simple on the surface but becomes very complex as the game goes on....

Best 3D Platformer Real-Time with Pause Games on PC

Feylin I like the art and I think that it has potential to be pretty good. I am unsure how to accomplish it but the mouse being the indicator of where you swing your sword isn’t that good when you’re constantly moving around. A different control scheme would certainly help. A little more content would be nice but for the price it was a pretty decent framework for a game. I would also recommend more sounds for when enemies are hit and different ways to attack....

Best Abstract Real-Time with Pause Games on PC

Orbi Universo It’s Democracy meets Civilization. Still a work-in-progress, and from a part-time indie dev, but what you see here shows promise. If you’re a Civ/Paradox/Democracy fan, it’s an easy recommendation. If you’re not too sure about it, grab it on sale, or wait until they finish all the ages that make the core gameplay. Pros: Less intimidating upfront than Democracy, you start from humble begginings. You can start at any place in the globe...

Best Action RPG Real-Time with Pause Games on PC

Divine Divinity After finally finishing this gem of a game I can only but recommend this game to any RPG lover out there. Beneath the now dated graphics lies a sound game with a complex world, rich lore and funny little gameplay gimmicks that made me smile a lot. The good: Rich lore, decent story (if a bit cliché by now) Plenty of content (Took me appr....

Best Action RTS Real-Time with Pause Games on PC

Of Ships & Scoundrels Did you like Pirates? Do you like turn-based combat? Do you like random maps and exploring? Then this game could be something for you. For an early access Indie title, it’s got surprisingly good graphics (especially the sea), a real story in single player mode, and some funny mystic creatures. There’s a touch of Age of Wonders, but the battles are less tactical. POSITIVE good graphics...
