Ring of Pain 3.5/5 : Card battler heavy on the modern “roguelike”: you die a lot, over and over, but your deck improves slowly (I’m going to start calling them neo-roguelike since rogue had no such advancement). Very pretty and novel UI. Weird story. I’ve played it all the way through and I don’t have any idea what I’m supposed to get. The worst part of the game and the reason for the low score: YOU CANNOT STOP PLAYING without losing the run....

ZpellCatz: Pumpkin Prologue Combat and movement are far too slow for a mouse and keyboard control scheme like this. I understand you can upgrade your equipment and become faster, but that still doesn’t mean anything when both you and your enemies have to come to a complete stop to attack. Honestly, the slow combat and movement feel forced to just to make it more of a grind. I don;t expect a lot of people are going to want to download or buy the full version if the combat is this slow....

Rift Wizard The first thing you should know about Rift Wizard is that it has no unlockables, which already makes it better than basically every other commercial roguelike out there. Just install the game and go ham with all the (so far) 130+ spells and 60+ skills already available from the beginning, no holding the player hostage with the same old moronic reward cycle that deliberately vandalizes gameplay because developers are so terrified of players figuring out their game is boring and there’s actually nothing interesting to do that they have to hide all the (pitiful) content behind more hours of your time than the entire game could ever really provide....

Ruine The potential of this game is incredibly strong. The art style, world and characters are making me eager to see more from this game. There’s a solid gameplay loop that’ll keep you experimenting with different builds throughout different playthroughs. Very good stuff! Obviously, there’s a lot to improve and balance. Combat isn’t as in depth as I feel it could be. Ruins, while fun to progress through, are quite basic in level design and detail, and the game can be finished in under an hour if you know what you’re doing and/or lucky enough from the RNG loot....
