Code 3: Police Response

Code 3: Police Response

Code 3 is a tactical police based first person shooter developed for the PC made by police and police support personnel. The game places the player in the shoes of a patrol officer in your average American city. The player will be able to take on the role of that officer and respond to various calls for service and act appropriately. Calls will be dispatched to the player who will resolve the issue at hand. Although some calls will be less dynamic than others, the game is developed for entertainment, and many calls will involve stressful and/or dangerous situations. It will be up to the player to decide the best course of action in each situation.

Since the game is being developed and created by police and police support personnel, there is a theme of realism regarding radio traffic, types of calls, and available resources. Dispatches are given by real life dispatchers, and levels/scenarios are created with the guidance and knowledge of working police officers including both current patrol and SWAT level officers. Although some elements are included for entertainment and enjoyment purposes, the focus of the game is on providing realistic situations for the player to face based on police experiences.

We look forward to working with our community through Steam Early Access to allow Code 3 to have an entertaining blend of realism and fun. Come check us out at the 109 Below forums and in Steam discussions to be a part of the Code 3 team today!

Crash Dive 2

Crash Dive 2

THIS GAME DESERVES A GOOD REVIEW!

Reasons for a cheap price tag:

Graphics are interesting, even though simplified in appearance there is much detail in the game.

U-Boat modeling very simple and almost toyish, in appearance but it is all there.

Modeling on objects in distance of being observed don’t have that realistic emergence into view, just that don’t see it now and you do see it thing but it works. You won’t spot smoke on the horizon in other words, just modeled if you see them or not and then scaled according to view and size. There is debris, fires, oil slicks, smoke, fog, rain. clouds are a bit unrealistic in presentation.

Crash Dive II, it’s about the closest recent game that I have found as a sub sim to Silent Hunter III, Wolves of the Pacific.

It will be a game that will be compared because they are both based in the Pacific region during WW2, but there are differences, for instance, Crash Dive II is much easier to get straight into and overall is an easier sim to play, its not as in depth as SH II and does not have a choice of subs or starting zone to choose from, does not have historically dodgy torpedoes that don’t work (all these do) and the graphics in Crash Dive II could be better, but are still ok for the fact this isn’t a big developer.

SWAT 3: Tactical Game of the Year Edition

Corrupted gang of police motorcyclists breaks Geneva convention and ruins my score

But seriously though, this is the best tactical shooter in the history of men, at least among the CQB ones! Yes, even better than incredible SWAT 4. Don’t be scared of it’s clunky UI and outdated graphics. The AI of your teammates is some sort of black magic! Friendly bots scan every corner, shoot very accurately and proceed with disciplined caution - they are indeed useful, however not overpowered. Swat bots even mark every breached room with a lightstick and correct your reports to command center on the fly. That is the reason, why SWAT 3 is actually better than the 4th one, which can be pretty common opinion among some die hard fans. Yes, as a gothic operator i absolutely miss enviromental storytelling in SWAT 4, it’s grim New York locations inspired by the movie Seven, unique personalities of team members, user-friendly UI, more gameplay options, etc., but the 3rd installment excels exactly in what the 4th one could have done better.

The AI is over-rated but otherwise the BEST still that I have seen to date. They really do watch for all corners and move like a squad should if you let them. My only problem is that I cannot fully trust them in a fast acting scenario to assist me and survive. I am one who will and has replay’d a scenario over and over until all if not the majority of the squad is still walking. The content style, game-play, and all sound up to the voice acting is totally immersive. It’s a shame that the AI breaks that immersion when they mess up. I still cherish this title as if it were gold because, I do get those satisfying moments of success over chaos quite often. Take what I have to say about the AI with a grain assault but I know you wont because, it’s the truth.

Brigade E5: New Jagged Union

Brigade E5: New Jagged Union

Squad-based tactical wargame, with the very complicated and realistic engine, one of the best in the whole genre.

It’s been more than 10 years after the first release of the E5, but up to this moment, you can’t find better gaming experience, when we speak about tactical shootouts “like in the Jagged Alliance”. Sadly, but all this richness on the battlefield goes with considerable amount of bugs, and total insolvency of “Brigade E5” in all gameplay aspects except from shooting.

E5 New Jagged Alliance was designed as an heir to Jagged Alliance 2, in the country where JA2 is still have one of the biggest fan bases in the world – in Russia. Another one country in that short list is Germany, and there was successful and almost successful alike gaming projects as well… But let’s return there to the E5 title. In short, it is the first attempt of the amateur team of programmers to make “our own JA2 with smart enemies and blondes”. Surprisingly, they succeeded! No, they don’t build a perfect starship which can take all humankind to the stars. And even while I’m calling E5: New Jagged Union the game, in fact, it is a bad game. By all criteria, except one. Normally, when we see something like this, we call it “a project” at best, and turning away, because it is not worth neither our time, nor money. But the engine, created by Apeiron team, up to this moment remains the most prominent and complicated in the whole gaming industry. For comparison, the bits that we saw in the overall decent German game Jagged Alliance Back In Action, are that simple and rigid, so, for one, yeah, almost every 5-years-old can manage it, for two, it certainly gives not enough challenge for the adult connoisseurs of the genre.

A not-bad pausable tactical game. It plays out in real-time, but you can pause to give orders.

If you like Silent Storm, Jagged Alliance or maybe the original Fallout series (1 & 2) or X-Com, then you’ll likely find something you like here.

Some Pros:

Stats & Skills level up through use.

The ability to toggle specific features, such as ‘no critical hits’, ‘no misfire’, etc., is really nice. I wish more games let you have more choice as to how features like this go.

The ‘Fast Turn’ feature is quite nice for turning corners. You can use this by getting against some kind of cover and then holding Alt and moving the cursor around the corner. It’s a little finnicky as to where you need the cursor to be and it doesn’t always work, unfortunately.

Door Kickers 2: Task Force North

It shows that this is a labour of love. Fully playable state in EA, with a gameplay that just keep getting me get back to session after session. Maybe not that game you play hours on end every day but it have a very nice amount of workshop content too to keep you busy for many many sessions.

If you have an mall-ninja itch, thais might just scratch it. ;)

Incredible game, great for learning and utilising cqb drills and tactics-this is an early access title and content is updated every now and again-the community made content is also a joy-there’s a big emphasis on planning and preparing for the unexpected and the unexpected usually entails a pk gunner riddling your first two man team in a hail of bullets as a suicide bomber kills your other two man team because you got a little hasty and stupid-sometimes foresight and planning alone aren’t good enough and you have to respond to emerging threats dynamically. There are quite a few bugs, and sometimes your squad members will derp out a little like when you want to plan a dynamic entry with your whole squad but none of them can decide which one of them should open the door and they come to a standstill and some insurgent ends up opening it for them-that being said, the devs seem to be quite responsive to community feedback and I expect this will be fixed by the time of the final product. I do recommend this game wholeheartedly.

Door Kickers

Door Kickers

Door Kickers is one of those pleasant surprises that comes every now and then.

This is essentially a Top Down SWAT Team Simulator that is extremely Tactical. (And I’m not using the word just because it’s cool)

How would I describe Door Kickers ?

This game reminds me of older releases that change the way FPSes are played such as Rainbow Six and SWAT.

This is a slow and methodical game as it’ll brutally punish you if a mistake have been made. Thought and precise movements must be taken into account if you wish for all of your troopers to survive that one bloody great gunfight.

One of the best real-time tactics games on Steam.

Having finished all of the single missions and all of the campaigns, both in Normal and in Iron Man, I believe I’m in a position to write a few things about this game. I don’t usually write Steam reviews, but Door Kickers is a special game that deserves recommendation. As someone who is very interested in tactical gaming, the top-down tactics offered by this game are very enjoyable.

The game gives you control over a team of SWAT operators and tasks you with defeating the bad guys and completing missions such as rescuing hostages, arresting a suspect, securing evidence, preventing escape of the suspects or escorting a VIP. There are different ways to play the game, but the way I play it (and I guess the most obvious style of play) is real-time with pause. The way I usually do the missions is like this: I draw actions for my troopers, let them play out those actions, pause, assess the situation and then plan my next move. You can also play the game in 100% real-time or even prepare the entire mission in the planning phase if you want. It’s a lot more difficult and challenging to do, but the option is there. There is no ‘true’ method of playing the game.

It gives you a realistic view of being a manager, The best competition I have played so far are Spanish leage, NBA. European League. If you are thinking about choosing a national team just worry about the United State, This team is a machine to kill. I lost twice in a row managing Brazil in both the Americup and the olympics.

RESCUE 2: Everyday Heroes

RESCUE 2: Everyday Heroes

As a firefighter, this game is interesting and keeps me playing but is nowhere near realistic.

As a real time strategy gamer, this game is not what anyone is really looking for.

Expect the following:

  • To have to micromanage -There is zero AI. If you want it done, you will have to issue at minimum of 5 commands for the most basic of functions. (Select engine 1-1 crew exit select firefighter pull hose from engine 1-1 attach hose to engine 1-1 attack fire)

  • Did I say micromanage? - You will be unable to stack actions. Seriously. Even issuing a command after the task has been completed will still require that you wait a set time frame to pass before your selected unit is open to an additional command.

well, to beginn with this review i have to say that i am really dissappointed by the game! i know many people would just need one sentence to describe this game, but i don´t think that it is so bad.

Yes, the game promisses more than it actually gives. there is a screenshot about a train derailment near a sawmill, but it´s not in this game! there has been one in the previous part. and this is the only part that really gives you missions you only can achieve with the Ladder Vehicle. i surely see that the game could be better, but knowing the companies that worked on it for a while i realized they never done something big and cool. those companies are known for makeing the worst simulator games on the market.

This game is still my favorite hardcore tactical shooter. Nothing has come close to beating it, not even ARMA. Yes, ARMA may have some extra gadgets and a few extra bits of immersion, but GR just has the soul it needs to keep it realistic yet fun and not overly realistic to where you might as well push a button to tie your boots. A recommendation right of the bat before I get to the review: The Heroes Unleashed mod really completes the package and definitely makes it close to real. If you do get this game, definitely download it.

TL;DR Go to last paragraph.

When I was about seven I was introduced to this game when my mom would play it while my dad was at work. I’d watch and sort of engross myself in the experience with her as she explained her meticulous point selection and how Jacob and Cohen were the best of the game due to their insane amount of grenade launcher ammo.

Originally I picked up this game for the nostalgia of playing through it and I’m in similar circumstances right now where there’s a large amount of time I have to myself at the moment. I know it won’t be forever, but I’ll explain some of the mechanics that I like about this game and what you need to do to enjoy it.

Rainbow Six in 2005:

-3 single-player campaigns totaling 30 missions, and they get better as you go. Athena Sword builds on Ravenshield, and Iron Wrath (make sure to download and install, super easy) is the pinnacle, the missions are brutal and the maps look stunning. This is definitely a pre-DLC era game.

-Game is set within the Tom Clancy universe and builds upon the formula from the previous Rainbow Six entries

Realistic and fun!

  • graphics still look good
  • HUD and scope stretch on anything not 4:3!

  • no aiming down iron sights (Project VI is unreleased, RavenShield 2.0 is not animated))

  • things can clip through walls (bodies, smoke…)

  • AI is good (spawns somewhat randomly, uses grenades, kills hostages, surrenders, moves around)
  • AI threats give themselves away by talking/shouting whenever they detect enemies
