** Not sure what language this was made in, but do not buy if you plan to play in English**

No worthwhile tutorial, very very poor translation means card mechanics are a complete mystery with cards acting in bizarre fashion.. sometimes doing one thing, sometimes not doing anything at all. The performance is also pretty bad. I can’t really figure out any mechanics that work properly.

A shame because there is a lack of non-p2w card games out there.

The developers of this game take much pride in the hard work they put forth into making sure the game is stable, steady and runs without hiccups.

They are always ready to solve issues and really make this game worth what it is.

The support is immeasurable!

Brass: Birmingham

Brass: Birmingham

I love Brass Birmingham (The Boardgame) and reviewing an Early Access game is somewhat unfair - I based my review on both that it is Early Access and the actual gameplay experience.

1. The AI gameplay is rubbish right now and is far from developed - far too easy (even on the expert level) and predictable - Maybe it is good for beginners to learn the mechanics of the game (I can’t really know since i’ve played 20 + times)

2. The Tutorial was good for an intermediate player that has’nt played for a while but for a total beginner I would draw the conclusion that it is far from enough to actually get to know the game.

Most reviews here seem to be written for single games.

Below are the questions my friend and I asked when we tried to play an online game last night, in chronological order.

Why do you have to sign up for an account for Brass when you already have a Steam account?

Why doesn’t the tab button on my keyboard work as usual when signing up?

Why is there no option to invite your friends, instead they would have to scroll through all available games, to find the name of your game? (good luck if you use the default name Brass)

Rogue Summoner

Rogue Summoner

Fun game, not for everyone and often quite unforgiving but something fresh and new.

It’s a combination of a Roguelike and a creature game, which is unusual in itself, but rather than command them, they act based on pre decided abilities and behaviours and where you place them, though you are shown a lot of what might happen on a turn. There is some trial and error as you learn the creatures abilities, but it’s very satisfying when it all comes together. And the guide iIve just made tells you what all the creatures do so there is that.

IN A WORD: MAYBE

IN A NUTSHELL:

WHAT TO EXPECT: Combination of planning and strategy. Limited tactical assets and resources. Dungeon crawler. Roguelike elements. Procedurally generated rooms. Hands-off, auto-chess style, turn-based combat. Limited polygon graphic-style. 9 dungeons. 40 summonable creatures, half-dozen potions and rune spells. Immersive soundtrack. Singleplayer only.

ACHIEVEMENTS: COMPREHENSIVE. CONTRIVED.

STATUS: COMPLETED. SOME BUGS. SLOW SUPPORT.

Cute Animals Memory Card Game

Cute Animals Memory Card Game

Lucky me has the dubious honour of writing the first English language review of CUTE ANIMALS MEMORY CARD GAME from Yume Game Studio.

CUTE ANIMALS MEMORY CARD GAME is a basic mobile app tier Memory game with pictures of cute animals on the cards. It looks like this was copied from a NW.js GameMaker Studio/YoyoGames template and they just added a few asset flipped images for the cards.

There’s no real merit as a video game here, this looks like just a cash grab, that’s supported by the way it was made using a game construction kit template and the way keys were sold off in bulk to cheap game bundle sellers at launch.

Gomoku Let’s Go

Gomoku Let’s Go

Honestly been eyeing it this whole time and I think the developer has made a pretty solid game, and also offers quite a lot of support and constant updates. I hope the devs make a Go game in the future because what they have going with this one is proof enough they can go beyond Gomoku and into the 19x19, it’d be pretty dope I think.

This game is sooooooo fun with friends, literally the only thing I could ask for is a mode with multiple boards so multiple friends can play at the same time. Please please please make more games like this, make go, make shogi, I will buy them for everyone.

Este juego es divertidísimo con colegas, cómpralo 100%. A este precio es un robo.

Conflict Area

Conflict Area

Good game very underrated, the graphics are amazing, but here are things that i think you should change, the snow map seams really uncomplete, you should add textures to some of the building’s, the bots are always cramped together which makes it very hard to move and its easy to get lots of kills, the other thing is changing knife, currently the only knife is a Karambit it would be nice if you could add other knife, one more thing is that you should be able to have bots when doing Defusal and be able to change the bots difficulty. That’s all, overall the game is amazing and i would recommend it for people who are going to do commentary since kills are very satisfying.

An outstanding game, one I thoroughly enjoyed playing and reviewing. Great artwork, excellent game mechanics, balanced play, plenty of progression, an epic score, and such a tonne of content for a great price. If you are looking for a review, then please take a look at the link above. Otherwise, get out there and buy DragonClash.

PROS:

  • Card game about Dragons' fight

  • nice cards / art

  • complex actions and ruleset

CONS:

  • very confusional

  • not beginner friendly

  • very long battles, if you are starting to grasp the game’s content

  • a little tiring and/or boring

NOT REVIEWED:

  • boss battles / mechanics

  • further ingame depth and progression

As a Dragon lover, i picked up this game because it would have been a nice addition to my library (or hoard, since we’re talking about Dragons).

Also the game game seemed to look nice.

Dwarflings

Dwarflings

This is a really likeable tactical puzzle game with oldschool taste which feels like the mix of Lemmings and Commandos. Here’re some reasons why you would like it (without particular order):

1. Art is simple, but very nice and with great attention to details, and quite a lot of them make you smile.

2. Rules and controls are very easy to learn, you do not really question how to play the game, you just play.

3. Levels are well-thought and each built around its own idea. There’s no complexity for the sake of complexity. Many of them will make you scratch your head, but once you get it right you go through. It never gets too long to bore you. Harder levels are sometimes followed with the easier to relax a bit, and then there’s a new puzzle.

Real player with 16.5 hrs in game

Do not buy this, it is a terrible excuse for a game. It says it is “Lemmings meets Lost Vikings” but both of those were clever, well thought-out games that were fun - this is definitely not. Add in the covert in-app purchases and I think you have the measure of its design.

In short, you click one of a few icons to get the dwarf you are controlling to do something. The game has no charm, subtlety or depth. I am fairly sure that very few people continued far in, judging by the % ratings on each achievement. It only appears that I have played it for 11 hours because I idled it for the cards. I will now be uninstalling it and not wasting any more time on this poor effort.

Field of Glory II

Field of Glory II

If the Panzer General of old was considered a Beer & Pretzel game, then Field of Glory II is surely the craft beer and gourmet pretzel of the wargaming genre. With its simple to comprehend mechanics, yet deep tactical applications, it is a direct translation from table top to the computer (with all the benefits that entails) and a love letter to the history of ancient warfare as well. Before you shake your head, let me tell you, it’s true.

Field of Glory II is a turn based (IGOUGO) system, which allows for a leisurely, thoughtful pace, while making far reaching tactical decisions, hopefully three steps ahead of your foe. How fast you click has no bearing on your generalship and ability to conduct war. There’s plenty of time to think and plan and execute. It’s a play style that compliments the game mechanics as well as the Early Roman (and DLC) era battles, quite nicely. But don’t let that fool you. There is as much stress and imminent threat in a given round of FoG II as any Real Time game can offer (when your center fragments during the first move of your opponent’s turn you’ll understand). And woe unto you if you think the enemy can’t take advantage of a mistake you make during your turn. He can and he will.

Update 2017.10.14

Just wanted to post again to comment on the AI. The higher level AI does have some issues with specialized battle types. I played the Advanced Guard and Escort Baggage Train types and the AI didn’t seem too interested in fulfilling the objectives, however it still gave me a challenge to win the scenario. I’m not really counting this against the AI; for instance the Advanced Guard scenario is kind of a odd fellow, the object is to keep as many of your units over in the center of the opponent’s side of the map for as many turns as possible. The AI pretty much doesn’t care about that, it just wants to beat you. I’m OK with that.
