Bags of potential, had quite some fun with a few friends last night.

Needs some further development though, ran into some minor bugs.

Check out how to play in the community hub video section, I posted a 3 minute video there.

FREAKOUT

P.R.S (Paranormal Research Society) investigates claims of hauntings, demonic possession, ghosts, shadow figures, haunted objects, and other unexplained phenomena. This kind of work isn’t for everybody but still, you decided to join them. And yes the pay for the job is high. After all, you don’t believe in any of this ghost stuff. Your job is to check the house of the deceased person and places where there are reportedly more paranormal activities and strange incidents occur. You can check the places either alone if you are brave or gather your team of friends who can run, hide and make fun of you screaming. Check the place but don’t get caught by anything or anyone inside.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Immersive Experience

Enjoy the atmosphere with realistic graphics and an immersive 3D Audio system while being chased around the whole place.

  • Single Player

This mode is for the Hardcore players and thrill-seekers who decided to scream all by themself alone in the middle of the night when everyone was sleeping in silence.

  • Online Co-op multiplayer

Gather 2-4 of your friends who decided to scream together along with you and check the places. It will give you a little bit of courage when you are screaming together as a team. Trust me with this.

  • More maps, more AI’s, more screams, and more scares

Enjoy the whole new level of gameplay experience each time when a new map is released. Every new map brings with it a new horrifying AI with its unique traits meaning each gameplay will be different.

  • Replayability

No two gameplay will be the same. Items spawn at different locations every time when you start the game and the AI is totally unpredictable. At this point, not even I know how the gameplay will be each time.

This game contains flashing lights that may make it unsuitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy or other photosensitive conditions. Player discretion is advised.

A Confusing Attempt at Coop Horror

I look all over Steam for random / unknown Steam games to play. This was one of the chosen titles this week! If you’d rather watch than read, you can do so here:

[Thoughts and First Impressions]

I love coop games. It’s so nice to sit down with someone you like (or hate, depending on the game) and play a game where you have to work together to solve puzzles and get to your goal. It’s always fun, even when the game isn’t necessarily great if the puzzles are good then you can forgive a lot and get through it. This game is not that case. This game is a case of a neat idea that just failed on the execution.

This game is actually really well made. It’s challenging, fun, and polished. It’s a small game but with a lot of effort and love put in to it

Darkwood

Darkwood

One of the best survival/horror games I’ve ever played

At first i just grabbed this game for something spooky from the halloween sale (which needs to start oct 1st, not 2days before halloween!). After the prologue is wasnt very impressed but the steam halloween sale doesnt have many quality games this year so i kept on playing. Now i cant put the damn thing down, yes its that damn good! Yes its scary but more importantly its has a quality story and it becomes very addicting once you start finding clues and weird items, that you have no idea what they are for till later on. So glad i took a chance on darkwood, and the fact it takes place in the 80s is always a plus. Worth buying full price imo. Cant wait to see if there will be more content added or even a darkwood 2. Darkwood is an easy 8/10 for me and i havent even reached chapter 2 yet. Hurry up and buy!

March of the Living

March of the Living

TL:DR at the end, scored 10 / 10 as of 20th April 2016

Borba Recommends

[olist]

  • Genre - A 2D roguelike-like such as FTL and Convoy, this time in a zombie postapocalypse. It manages to capture the desperation of such event through excellent writing and a well balanced challenge, as players need to guide their survivors on a journey in a search for a safe haven while trying to prevent them from starving to death, becoming infected or getting killed by either zombies or humans.

March of the Living

is an isometric 2d game similar in presentation to Death Road to Canada (although much slower in pace) and other such pixelated roguelikes. I’d had it sitting in my library for a while and decided to play it on a whim. It was decent. I wouldn’t call it great, although I imagine it WOULD be great as a mobile title. No idea if that statement is actually true or not, but the game is well suited to that format. But…it was also well suited to this one.

Story

The story is more or less the same ultimate goal of getting to the city of Wellston on the coast and on a ship getting ready to set sail with whatever survivors were able to get to the safe zone at the docks. The specifics of the story vary based on which character you play, but all in all, those little snippets of story are more like splashes of color than any sort of painting. Still, it helps to keep the game fresh.

Mask of Sanity

Mask of Sanity

Storyline doesn’t looks like completed, so I’ll wait for more cutscenes even if it would be in another game.

Game scares me when enemies are shows suddenly. From gameplay perspective combat system is odd, but allows to maneuver. Or you can use pistol to deal with emeny.

There are random loot in the destroyable boxes, so one time you can get full heal, but the other - just an apple. This poses a challenge that makes each play slightly different from time to time.

After playing the game for 2 hours there is no way to save to game to be able to pick up where you left off… as well at a certain spot after you are killed, you lose all of your inventory items and playing blindly without anything to defend yourself and the items that you have collected previously.

Overall a good game but would like to be able to play where i left off if i want to turn it off and be able to keep the inventory collected.

project BLARI

project BLARI

For a game coded by a single person, Project BLARI is a game that at first, seems to be a simple retro / horror game like any other, but I can tell you it isn’t !

Pros :

  • The Enemies you encounter are easy to predict and counter if you know how to, a brand new player will have some trouble at first but after some playtime, you can basically counter all enemies easily. (this can be a Pro and a Con, depending on personal opinions)

  • The attention to realism is well made ! you can’t just turn your camera and check behind you, your view is represented by Terence ! The LORE of the game only adds up on it, the small details can tell you a lot about the complex story this game has !

very old school game with several routes and endings

but watch out its also creepy and spooky

i love that mechanic of spamming a button to run instead of just pressing it, its kinda more stressful in a way which fits the situation
