Occupy Mars: Prologue
I think this game has a lot of potential. I love the realism. Also, the controls are very intuitive. They are different from some other games I play but Occupy Mars does it how it should be…left click basically does everything. What a novel concept! It’s the game I’ve been looking for! I look forward to the early access.
Sometimes the realism is too much, such as soldering every pin on a chip, but generally the realism in this game is what gives it an edge over other survival games. Maybe you should put the board in a chip repair machine and it takes a certain amount of time to repair. In the mean time, you have to live without the device that board belongs to… Just a thought.

Take On Mars
Notice: A lot of reviews are poor about this game because it is early access and people don’t bother to read that they’re buying an unfinished game. Actually READ what people have to say and don’t be taken in by metascores.
Notice: This is going to be detailed, so if your not into that skip to the next review, you have been warned!
Take on Mars - a game designed with a single purpose in mind - explore, and eventually colonize Mars.
Take On Mars - A Survival Game unlike any you’ve played. There are no enemies here except nature herself, but she a fierce one. Even without her Pets - Take on Mars is proof positive space travel is dangerous

SECOND REVIEW:
I am now updating this review to reflect the launch update and information that i found due to the comments made by Mr. Monochrome and INFIDEL in the comments below. I admit changes have been made and the game up to the point i have progressed to is working, that being said i still beleive this game needs alot more work in that the tutorials are incomplete as far as explaining all you need to know when it comes to the machines, the mission objectives are poorly worded and easily misinterpreted, and still no guidance in game on how to complete the unmanned missions and still make money. This game is frustrating and i personally believe that most gamers will lose interest due to this fact in very little time.

Lacuna Passage
This game has a lot of potential and…. about the distance between Earth and Mars still to walk until it will be a good game.
The idea is great, the game atm runs with no particular problems. I had maybe a couple of crashes in 50 hours of play time, but there is nothing to do if not endless repetitive chores. It’s not a survival, cause after 3-4 hours of gameplay to learn all the possible things to do, you know everything you need to go on indefinitely until you eat up all the loot around (food being the only thing that cannot be replenished).

Is this game worth 14.99 Uhmm…
Ya I believe so, Over-all If you like Take on Mars and the EA JCB Pioneer game then yes you’ll enjoy what this EA Game has to offer.
As of today 12/02/18 its missing a story and is clearly not Complete. right now you get to try out the games main machanics with plenty to do - but its not yet to the point a pros and cons list would be of use - Id rather just say this game has alot of potential and heading in the right direction… Sure there are some minor bugs but the game never crashed on me…

Terraformer Expedition to Mars
I like the direction it’s going. I really do. The only real issue I can see so far is its early stage of development. When you are constantly living in fear of the “Falling” glitch, that’s something to be said for a game that tries to be so immersive that it plays you the song of your respirator’s people. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I’ll explain… You have to constantly listen to your own breathing.
Oh, you meant the game-breaking and ever-lurking bug? Why, that’s when you hit terrain funny, or the edge of such, or the game just gets a wild hair up its ass, and decides that you aren’t touching ground. You can ‘float’ along, stuck in the falling animation and gaining digital momentum, until you manage to trigger either the same or a different bug, which forcibly helps you meet the ground directly under your boots, at terminal velocity. For me, it happens about once every hour. Could be more, could be less, and I often forget to save. That… is what makes this game unplayable in its alpha state for me. That one bug.

Graphics: For a large voxel, i.e. minecraft type game, when smoothed, looks really good, when in construction mode, blocky, still looks fairly good.
Sound: Monotnous. At the moment, I’ve only noticed one track playing which is very ambient. The breathing you get naturally is annoying, but can be tuned out.
Options: There are no real options at the moment, other than resolution, windowed/fullscreen, texture, and anti-aliasing. Definitely a point that needs worked on.
Gameplay: For 3 arks in this game, the first two are relatively quick, and the third part, is just waiting. Overall lack of depth.

Lunar Base Camp 2030+
Very simplistic controls. After approaching the first encounter with two species it crashes consistently. It’s unfortunate because the idea for the game seems cool, but the execution is poor.

Space Crisis
I picked up all 12 of these Nacks Soft games. They are essentially just sprite swaps, so either wait for a 90% sale or pick up the bundle if it’s less than $10 so you are getting the content equivalent of a decently sized full game.
The difficulty curve of this one isn’t as well-designed as Accel Magician Mimi and it’s missing the 1P vs. 2P mode. It’s space-themed though. It’s a very soft recommend – a C-range, middling game.
Pick up if under $1 or if you get all 12 games for under $10.

Surviving Mars
A new developer took over in September 2021 and they have trashed the game with bugs; just the base game, I’m not even talking about the disastrous expansion (85% negative reviews!!). 2 months and 4 ‘hot’ fixes later and the game is still so broken that I would prefer a rollback over anything the new developers have done, if only such an option were available.
They have started working on ‘content packs’ now.
I was in the middle of a game, trying for some outstanding achievements when the mandatory updates applied. I would remove this negative review if I had a way to roll back to the previous version.

Abstraction Games is ruining this game. It is my favorite game - even now. Yet, as time progresses, Abstraction keeps introducing more and more bugs into this game - at least for the Linux version. They also seem to just add more features that don’t really contribute to the overall experience.
If Steam would let me roll back to the pre-March 2021 release, I would.

ABOUT THIS GAME
Occupy Mars is a highly technical, open-world sandbox game about Mars colonization inspired by the most promising technologies and companies that are working toward becoming a multi-planet species. Build and upgrade your base, discover new amazing regions, conduct mining operations, retrieve water, generate oxygen, grow crops, fix broken parts, and learn how to survive on Mars!
Have you ever dreamt about visiting Mars? We always do! There are so many things to see and discover on the red planet, so many exciting technologies to be created, and so many challenges to overcome! If humanity can do this, we can become a multi-planet civilization!
Build and upgrade your base. Make sure that there is enough water, oxygen, power, and food to survive.
Build greenhouses, oxygen tanks, fuel generators, connect all the pipes and cables, and remember about proper cable management. Grow your own food.
Fix broken parts using realistic electronic components and tools. Learn the basics soldering, using hot air, electronic measurement tools, and all the details necessary to fix your equipment.
Explore different regions of Mars while searching for valuable resources, discover mining sites, and find the best place to build a city.
Remember that you need to find a relatively leveled area with good access to underground water in a place where temperatures don’t drop too much during the night.
Experience an open-world sandbox game with a realistic day/night cycle and overcome real challenges that colonists face. Build solar arrays and batteries for energy storage, upgrade them, and find the optimal way to power your colony.
Upgrade your vehicles and equipment in your garage. Organize your workshop and modify your rover. Change crane hydraulics, operate the robotic arm, dig for valuable resources, build mining rigs, and more…
Occupying Mars is not always easy. Sometimes things will explode, break or not go exactly as planned. Learn to cope with “Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly.” Sometimes you have to really act quickly before you run out of air, food, or energy.
…but most importantly HAVE FUN on Mars!
Mars Colony:Challenger
I really, really, REALLY want to like this game. I just cannot.
It’s not the slow pace. That’s fine. I like games that take a while to pick up steam. It’s not the graphics. Yes, they’re dated, but so be it, there’s games from 10 years ago that I like to pick up and play.
It’s the lack of a GAME. There is none. You are supposed to build a Mars base. So far, so good. Interesting, one would assume. But what it comes down to is “take this bunch of containers one by one and carry them inside”, that means pick one up, walk (walk. What did you expect, running?) over to the airlock, find a place to put it down, walk back out to the hangard, pick another container up … and repeat that 20 times). Then you have to put the right container in the right slot at the machines. They are labeled, don’t worry, it’s not like you have to think or anything. Then watch a progress bar move like a snail. From time to time it may “fail” and you get to click a button, but in general you sit there and watch a progress bar.

I recommend it but only if you can get it at a low enough price as there are still a few annoying bugs. It’s a borderline recommendation though as the crafting mechanics and rover repairs become tedious quite quickly .
Also it will probably only appeal to a certain type of person so you should play the demo first.
The good:
It’s a slow paced survival game that does a reasonable job of capturing some of what it would be like to live and try and survive on Mars. A very unique survival experience that doesn’t rely on zombies/dinos or some other form of being horribly murdered to create the survival expereience.

It really had potential but I can’t recommend this one. The video explains why.
