Sentenced

Sentenced

Sentenced combines the oppressive horror atmosphere and the complexity of survival, mixed with its stealth system and permadeath. In the depths of the labyrinth, a variety of monsters will not leave a place where you could relax in safety.

Sentenced challenges the player’s cold blood and ingenuity, because it’s the only way you can collect everything you need to win. Look for resources that will help, if not survive, then extend your existence. Hide or run away, of course almost any enemy is mortal, but the noise of the fight will attract new monsters, and the patrons are such a rarity that it is better to save for the most extreme case.

This is a one-man team behind this game. It is scary af. It’s straight to the point. Vague story. Spooked me real good. Good stuff!

TL;WR: Short horror game, good for 3-scary game compilation videos.

PROS:

1. Simple gameplay, easy to pickup.

2. Graphics is fine (PS2 graphics).

3. A few good scares here and there (Loud and subtle ones)

CONS;

1. Gets repetitive. Items are in the same place everytime.

2. Controls a bit iffy, mostly because it doesn’t lock the mouse in-game (clicked out of the game multiple times).

Looks super promising, cant wait to see where it will end up!!

The Victorian style really caught my eye the monsters seem decent and the game play looks compelling, its really nice to see so many indie game devs these days breathing fresh air in an otherwise stale market, keep up the good work

  • Genre - A 2D roguelike-like such as FTL and Convoy, this time in a zombie postapocalypse. It manages to capture the desperation of such event through excellent writing and a well balanced challenge, as players need to guide their survivors on a journey in a search for a safe haven while trying to prevent them from starving to death, becoming infected or getting killed by either zombies or humans.

March of the Living

is an isometric 2d game similar in presentation to Death Road to Canada (although much slower in pace) and other such pixelated roguelikes. I’d had it sitting in my library for a while and decided to play it on a whim. It was decent. I wouldn’t call it great, although I imagine it WOULD be great as a mobile title. No idea if that statement is actually true or not, but the game is well suited to that format. But…it was also well suited to this one.

Story

The story is more or less the same ultimate goal of getting to the city of Wellston on the coast and on a ship getting ready to set sail with whatever survivors were able to get to the safe zone at the docks. The specifics of the story vary based on which character you play, but all in all, those little snippets of story are more like splashes of color than any sort of painting. Still, it helps to keep the game fresh.

Monstrum

Monstrum

Ahh, Monstrum. Has been a long time my darling! How have you bee- dies

Monstrum is a very peculiar horror game. It has a unique setting, interesting and terrifying Monsters, and some hilarious bugs and glitches to expl- wait, oh fuck, they fixed those. Shit

What is Monstrum?

Monstrum is an indie horror game. It follows the player waking up in a very cramped room on either the upper decks or the lower decks of an abandoned cargo ship. You must find the equipment required to repair one of the three escape routes and get off the ship. There’s just one problem. You’re not alone.

Summary:

All things considered, monstrum is a better than average indie horror game at an indie horror game’s price. The monsters are interesting, the collectable and RNG systems bring about a fair amount of replayability to the game, and the general feel of the game are superb. Though it is obvious that this product has recieved a vast amount of care from the developers, bugs still remain. These bugs aren’t exactly the most common, or the most game breaking, but in certain situations it can lead to a bit of headache or confusion. All in all, the game is worth the price in my eyes, and it’ll certainly grant satisfactory hours of entertainment in the time that one plays it.

Outbreak: Lost Hope

Outbreak: Lost Hope

Disclaimer: I am one of the game’s alpha testers, so I have some knowledge of inner workings that aren’t known to other players. Due to this, I made a guide you can use if a puzzle stumps you. Good luck.

Here we have the 4th installment in the Outbreak series, and just like New Nightmare was to the original, we have a large leap in multiple aspects. Gone are both the top down and fixed cameras for over the shoulder, and we now can aim our shots. Unfortunately, ammo here is more scarce than ever, so when you finally do shoot something, make it count.

In the 4th installment in the Outbreak series the dev has done a good job of evolving the game on many levels. They seem to be on the right road of many good devs in that they are obviously using their money to further their game creation abilities as well as improving the games themselves, be it graphics, mechanics, engines, assets, story and overall gameplay. (though I’m not interested in F2p games so I’m not sure i’ll be playing the next one). This however, as with the previous 3 is quite a nice and fun homage to the Resident Evil genre. The whole series so far has been certainly worth any money I’ve paid for them and I look forward to this developers continued evolution of both himself and his games. If you are into this genre this game, and the series in general, is certainly worth a spot in your libraries.

Heartless Dark

Heartless Dark

I can recommend this if you enjoy some atmosphere and an interesting challenge.

If you get over the initial learning curve the game has a lot of that ‘one more game’ feeling.

The dark and restricted vision can make it tough to navigate.

Once you get used to it then the challenge becomes not running out of ammo.

Once you get used to that the challenge becomes figuring out how to fight the monsters in interesting ways using the game systems (maybe kiting them through acid or stunning them with an exploding fire extinguisher).

A very atmospheric and lethal rogue like. You have to budget your limited ammo and life against enemies that hit hard and fast but I’ve never lost a like a run thinking there was nothing I could do about it. Finding bullets and upgrades is always rewarding.

Outbreak: Endless Nightmares

Outbreak: Endless Nightmares

Been playing for about 12 hours and its a good game if you want to play a rogue-like that carries over your equips, levels and meta progression. As you play, you will find Conductor coins that unlock said features but the spawn rate of these coins slow down by midgame. You can tweak the dungeon difficulty by yourself before entering, with higher difficulties giving better loot.

As for the gameplay, its Resident Evil 1-3 with tweakable camera angles. And randomised dungeon layouts. Weapon types are like in RE. AI could be better, they usually stand around unless you take too long to clear the level. I’m kind of disappointed with the costume unlocks but the gameplay is fun enough to grind for coins. Some enemies can one shot you so the difficulty is definitely there.

Real player with 12.4 hrs in game

Its a really fun game but I feel the weapons certainly need some rebalancing, to go from needing 3 bullets to kill a fat zombie with a target pistol mk.2 to needing legit 6 bullets with a tactical rifle mk3 is beyond a problem, especially when the rifle only has 7 bullets. The game is really fun and i still am finding new enemies that i absolutely didnt expect to run into but the camera certainly needs some work and it is definitely very very janky. Theres a lot of potentional here and hopefully it continues to improve. What’s here is a great game though, and it can only get better

Rogue Randy

Rogue Randy

First of all, as a player, I think the distribution of maps is OK. The beginning of the story can also arouse the curiosity of players. But I don’t really like combat systems. I don’t know the attack mechanism of different enemies, and the torch will fall down when rolling, increasing the difficulty. In the dark, it is difficult for players to see the enemy. These different enemies will come together to find the player. I don’t think this is very good. If you want to go to each area and meet a certain type of enemy, I think it’s good. Only after the cooling down of ordinary attack is completed, can we use the attack distance of player range. When you open the item bar, you need to click the mouse to use the item. Moreover, the map of land is diverse, but if many of the same room pattern will make players feel tired, and I think the key guidance is not clear. I don’t know which door the key should open. That’s how I feel about the game
