Orcish Inn
Orcish inn is a tavern simulation game in which you take the role of an innkeeper starting out in unsettled lands. You gather resources, farm all sorts of crops like hops and oat, brew your own beers, construct a tavern piece by piece and welcome various orcish clans to your very own place. The game interweaves aspects of management and simulation with those of survival and exploration.
-
FARMING: Plant and harvest various types of crops like hops, oat, sugar-beets, tomatoes and many more, which are then sold, eaten or used as beer flavor.
-
BREWING: Brew your own types of beer and influence your guests by defining the beers' taste, tint brightness, full body, bitterness, alcoholic strength and flavor.
-
PRODUCING: Gather and process resources, like chopping trees for logs and process them into lumber planks and decorative planks spent in building and crafting.
-
CONSTRUCTING: Construct buildings like brewing facilities, taverns or dorm rooms by putting down walls and floors and decorate the created rooms with crafted furniture.
-
SERVING: Serve the visiting orcish clans by fulfilling their wishes, fine-tune prices or the beer’s taste or risk getting battered in a huge pub brawl.
-
AND MORE: Raise and breed animals like pigeons, which swirl around and bring back useful items, or wrest valuable treasures from the ocean with your fishing rod.
The game is in development since 2014 and the unfinished pre-alpha is currently available for free.
Farm for your Life
tl;dr
Cute farming/zombie survival game combined with running a restaurant.
Achievements are doable, but require some patience.
Story
As you might have alreadey expected an unkown virus has turned people to zombies. In order to survive you have to plant vegetables, cook and serve your customers in your restaurant. At a later time you will be able to get some NPC helpers and even try to search for a cure.
Gameplay
The controls feel right. It is not too complicated and you don’t need to rush too much. If you want to unlock all the achievements, you will need to do some mini games with perfect score. For some people it might feel annoying, but I am not very skillful and I still have done it. Therefore I think it is not that hard.

A fun little casual game.
The zombies aren’t too scary, the animals and toons are cute, the gameplay is easy to learn.
The storyline provides what is being advertised. 5-6 hours of story-related gameplay. After that, one can always continue in “freeplay” mode.
Replay value seems limited, as is the content. No procedurally generated world, which makes replays seem all alike.
A few bugs here an there, nothing major though:
[olist]
- Customers sitting on each others' laps, dishes occasionally getting stuck and being hard to remove. Not a big deal, most of these are self-clearing when the restaurant runs out of customers during nights. Saving and re-loading the game cleared all these issues too.

Among Trees
The game is very beautiful. Game mechanics are simple and easy to pick up for laid back gamers. I expected much more from the overall sustenance in the game, I put in about ten hours of gameplay and im already finished and have everything in the game. Although there is no “end game”, I feel like I finished everything and now the game itself is rather boring.
I am also rather upset there is no audio options, I can’t disable the music or any sounds within the game. The overall audio is extremely loud in my opinion, the bears and cutting down trees are especially loud. I remember the first time running into a bear and jump in my chair because of the volume from the bear roar.

Currently as I am writing this Among Trees doesn’t seem to be being updated, this could change in the future, but the developers had said themselves, “We’ve been developing Among Trees for almost five years now and feel like we’ve taken the game to a great place. We’re planning to fix bugs and optimize the game until the end of the year, but don’t expect any major new features or content. It’s a game we could keep working on forever, but we’ll be moving on to new exciting projects for now!”, Seems to me the game was quite literally abandoned on steam for a last money grab.

Survival Engine
Well to start with this is a very well made little demonstration for a mere advertisement.
It really is too bad that it’s creator does not seem to have any intent to turn this into a full survival game as it is actually very fun and has incredible potential, it has it’s flaws to be sure but with some polish and care it could be one of the best indie survival games on steam and with it’s low system requirements it would end up in most survival gamers libraries as long as it was priced reasonably as a full game.

This is a really cute game. When I downloaded it I had no idea it was just a demo so I completed everything really quickly but i love the mechanics of the game and overall play style! I personally would like the ability to move my camera angles and select a space for my character to move to without them getting stuck but other than that I had fun playing!

FreeHolder
Really good game and addicting, it has great potential and is a great blend of surviving, strategy and RPG.
Unfortunately it’s too bugged at the alpha state. Check it later.
Updated at Jan 20th:
The devs are not responsive to our feedbacks, and keep playing other games and ignoring us. Change to not recommended for now, and may possibly edit some time.
Updated at May 27th:
The dev brothers decided to set aside some time to develop it. At Alpha 3 hotfix 9 it’s highly playable now, also they are planning to deploy Unity 5 in the Alpha 4 to avoid massive bugs. I’m also doing some Chinese localization voluntarily, which they MAY adapt it one day.

At it’s core, FreeHolder is a cheap-ish variation (maybe even clone) of a game from Clarus Victoria . It plays very similarily to Predynastic Egypt except latter actually has decent quality and way more content. And it had a full release just few months after this game came to EA.
Freeholder is just painful. It gives you VERY limited options. You have, like, 7-9 action points per turn. Most actions are absolutely random and it is not uncommon to have three in a row to fail completely. If those actions are food gathering you most likely are screwed, since you CANNOT STORE FOOD AS IT SPOILS AT LUDICROUS RATE. And then you start anew. And you reload since MOST OF THE TOWN QUESTS ARE SUPPLYING LUDICROUS AMOUNTS OF FOOD WHICH SPOILS AT LUDICROUS RATE AND YOU CAN MOVE ONLY 5 UNITS PER TURN. And you do all of this with horrible, half-completed UI in a game full of bugs. It goes like this - even if you are doing fine at the beginning, starting disadvantages like this start snowballing and wreck you late in game. EVEN if you are doing well, and usually you aren’t. I played for, like, 15 hours and during this time I survived more than a year only once…

After waiting a year and through many broken promises for an update this game has taken a huge step back. Literally everything about this game is worse now. Definitely not worth buying in this state.
Update June 26, 2020: After giving this game one last chance with “Major Update Version 1.0” it’s abundantly clear it will likely never reach any potential it may once have had. To say it’s broken would be an understatement. Progression is virtually impossible. Stone cannot be gathered or mined in any way. No quests other than the first quest of meet the campers will complete. Trading does not work. The flashlight is a small circle of light always focused on the ground in front of the player’s feet so the light doesn’t follow where you are looking. There’s nothing aside from twine or rope to craft, build, or do as the most fundamental aspects of the game are non-functioning and as such you cannot acquire the necessary resources through any means whether that be gathering, trading, or completing quests. And this is after nearly three years since game release.

Wanderlost
GATHER, FARM, FISH, CRAFT, BUILD, TRAP, FORTIFY, EXPLORE and LOOT your way to post-apocalyptic domination
Thrust into the wilderness with little beyond the clothes on his back the player must navigate a hostile wilderness teeming with zombies and wildlife. Finding food, water, and shelter are three musts but can the player move beyond mere survival to sustainable living, safety, and even domination of their environment?
The world of Wanderlost is procedurally generated so the map can be infinitely explored, each new game is entirely unique, and around every corner are new and unexpected challenges
KEY FEATURES
Base Building
What might begin with crafted stick-fences surrounding a campfire for meager protection will ultimately progress to large, sprawling bases as the player amasses more and better resources. Fortify your position with metal walls or design a maze to take down Zombies without incurring any structural damage. Or focus on infrastructure, choosing to build wells, smokers, and root cellars over walls, turrets, and traps. And spend your down-time on cosmetic alterations, making a flower garden or creating the perfect base layout.
Looting & Exploration
With great risk comes great reward. There are 9 unique biomes in Wanderlost, each possessing unique dangers and useful resources. Venture to the rainforest for bamboo but don’t be ambushed by a jungle cat. Moving beyond the wilderness is risky but many items can only be found in the modern world. The abandoned structures, towns, and cities of old America have the highest zombie density but these modern structures may yield loot beyond what the wilderness can provide. As they say, guns and refrigerators don’t grow on trees.
Farming
Get to digging and cultivate the land around you. While you’re out foraging and hunting let mother nature put in some work growing your meals. Finding valuable seeds and crafting the tools to care for your growing garden will take time and dedication. It may take weeks for the fruits of your labor to be ready to harvest but the investment can provide a stockpile that will last you the winter.
Fish and Hunt
Catch yourself a meal and important resources to level up your survival. Keep warm with the hides you gather and craft fishing hooks and rods for bigger and better catches. Fishing can provide consistent food at a low risk but hunting can yield precious crafting resources like hides to survive the cold months.
Gathering
Spending time gathering resources like wood, ore, fiber, and so on provides the necessary materials to craft increasingly effective items, shelters, weapons, tools and more. Most resources require tools to harvest, be it an axe to chop down a tree, a shovel to dig up a plant, or a pickaxe to mine a rock. There are common resources like wood and stone but for more advanced crafting recipes you may have to scour the world for rare biomes and materials such as the bog providing vital peat and bog-iron. Diverse world biomes motivate exploration and can determine what makes a base location good or bad.
Combat
A lone zombie might be taken down with a club but greater numbers warrant more advanced equipment. Are you a stealthy sniper, picking off zombies one at a time with a bow before retreating? Or a katana-wielding madman capable of wading into the thick of the horde and coming out the sole survivor.
Crafting & Preparation
It’s important to make use of the downtime in between hunting and looting expeditions: crafting arrows, weaving cordage for building, fleshing hides for tanning, reloading your weapons, and more – preparation is vital to success.
Character Customization
While fighting zombies is necessary to survival, Wanderlost also has deep RPG mechanics providing the player with a wide variety of engaging feedback; with each zombie you kill, tool you craft, and tree you chop you inch closer to the next level up, the next attribute points, the next powerful perk for your build.
It Lurks Below
It Lurks Below is a love child of Diablo and Terraria and it shows. But just because the parent games are great, sadly this fact doesn’t make this game on the same level and the maker David Brevik in name alone does not make things great either. The game itself feels that it has no real challenge, drive, or even passion put into it unlike previous stuff he’s worked on. I would put this on the level of what seems to almost being a AA asset flip (like many others you can see on Steam, but were his own assets or paid for) made by a legend of the gaming industry.

EDIT: I have 138 hours on this game across 2 accounts and have the right to criticize this game and/or deem it worthy of humanities consumption, I have also played Terraria and Diablo 2 to an extensive amount, 500+ hrs.
umm I don’t really need to say much about the reasons why this game isn’t bad seeing most people have sense enough of why David Brevik, the developer, put this game on early access, and also the difference between hot garbage Terraria ripoffs, there is a VERY fine line drawn. first of all…
