Dead In The Tropics

Dead In The Tropics

Outlive your friends in this social multiplayer elimination game. Once a day, a player must be sacrificed so the others can live. What lengths will you go to to be the last remaining?

The group must decide who is the next to be eliminated. How could you make that impossible choice? You only see one option. At night you vote.

Work together during the day, turn against each other at night. Will you be defeated by the starvation, the trials of the island, or the complicated island politics?

Key features:

  • Deep, strategic, turn-based gameplay. Simple & easy-to-learn mechanics that cause nuanced, social consequences.

  • Online multiplayer. Betray real-world friends or strangers on the internet.

  • A game with voting at it’s core. Do you lie & scheme, or fly under-the-radar? How you play is up to you.

  • Balance your individual goals with the survival of the group. Eating more will give you a survival advantage, but it will not make your popular.

  • Randomly generated events and tools, along with the unique turn-order system, make every playthrough different. The decisions you make early will determine how the week plays out.

  • The AI of the island will decide your circumstances. Those met with good luck may find themselves targeted by others, while the unfortunate may be ignored as unthreatening. Adapt your strategy to the hand you’ve been dealt.

  • Those eliminated will still have a role to play on the final day if you choose to stick around. Short sessions mean it won’t be long until you’re back in the action!

I was hesitated about buying this game due to some review and topic said the Dev has abandoned this game. Let’s me clarify this. They just put a new update in this game, and also there will be a patch which add mod support to the game according to the dev. And after 90 mins playing, so far I don’t see any bug glitch in this game. Everything work pretty smooth, game optimization is very good imo. Here are some Pros and Cons.

Pros:

  • Save on exit. You can exit the game anytime you want without worry about losing your progress.

So, after surviving 3 consecutive winters, I have a fair grasp on the game—which did not come without cost. The first ~10 hours was learning how to balance the needs of the character, and learning the city (the latter being the slightly more difficult part).

Expect to die. Expect to die a lot. This game is ruthless, and it will sht on you: you will starve, you’ll be told to “pss off”, you’ll smell like a porta-potty, you may end up involved with a Satanic Cult, you’ll get blitzed so badly that you’ll feel like you have to hold on to the pavement to keep from falling off the face of the planet…and then you’ll sh*t your pants.

So yesterday I was eating with my family when all of a sudden a “crew mate” broke in through the front door. He had a ski mask on and a gun which was sus, but he a good skin. My father told us all to hide so we don’t get killed by the obvious imposter. I could see him from my hiding spot under the table and he looked sus. So I told my dad “DAD YOU THINK HE IS THE IMPOSTER? HE IS SUS!” I yelled as loud as I could. The imposter found us hiding and shot my father five times. The imposter was so dumb, who kills someone in front of crew mates? I ran to call the emergency meeting by grabbing my phone off the table when I heard my mother get shot and scream for me. Lol she was so bad at among us. My teammates sucked and were dying to the worst Imposter. So I called the emergency meeting and for some reason a S.W.A.T team rammed down the door and killed the imposter. Lol that’s not how the game goes, I think they were hacking.

Talk to Strangers

Talk to Strangers

Where can I start with this Quirky little game. Talk To Strangers aka(Door To Door Salesman Sim) is one heck of a charming game with quirky characters hiding behind each door each with their own little challenges when you face them, The soundtrack is eerily catchy especially the main menu music and I cant seem to get enough of it, The game play is super challenging but fun and the game is super replayable especially as there seems to be no end of achievements to grab and endings to find! all whilst making sure you dont get either killed, too depressed or angry and rage quit oh and dont annoy your boss!

Surprisingly entertaining and even challenging casual game, if you are eager to make a sale at every house, learn about the different stories and endings, and maybe get all achievements.

I would describe it as choice-driven rouge-like drummer (*door-to-door salesman) simulation. I was quite flummoxed when I tried this for the first time and fell for some cookies from a nice old lady. Instead of quitting, I learnt the ropes, became an artful barterer, and can even count the Death to my customers.

EDIT: This review is already very long, so I will post a video. However, the developer fixed almost all of the issues within a couple of days of my original post. THANK YOU! I changed my mind about recommending this game after seeing the developer’s diligence. I think there is a little ways to go still but this is definitely going to be a great game!

ORIGINAL:

There is a lot of potential for this game and I want to like it but I think it needs some more development. However, there is one major issue that would make this playable beyond 30 consecutive minutes for me: the player character sticks to everything in the environment. This means that there are about five times the usual amount of keystrokes required to navigate through the town.

It’s a cool game. If you’ve seen The Walking Dead - just like Rick you wake up and don’t know what’s going on. You discover you’re in a post-apocalyptic and there’s a zombie apocalypse going on.

You can walk through the town and find items like guns, money, and quest items. And meanwhile it gets increasingly more difficult with stronger and stronger waves of zombies spawning every couple of minutes that you have to survive as well.

There’s a variety of zombies attaching you, like some sprinting zombies, rotting ones, exploding ones, and massive “boss zombies” with armor and stuff. The other characters in game are fun too, including the random catchphrases your own character has

Updated for Steam Nominations 2021

As mostly first person shooters player, i sometimes enjoy switching to less intense indie games. Ashwalkers would be one of those.

For me this game became liked a moment i saw it on store. Mostly because of character design and story setting, which is surprisingly similar to one i’ve wrote a couple of years ago. So far this is the closest thing to what could be called “dream game”.

As the gameplay is not challenging, it requires player to calculate their movements since “survival” part is taking an action. Game itself is user friendly, player just need to get used to visual narrative and simple controls.

For those looking for a game akin to the choose your own adventure books of old, Ashwalkers is phenomenal. Decisions require careful thought be put into them, and the game rewards reading into the choices and texts. Some of the choices endgame that determine the endings felt a bit arbitrary, but after having at least gone down the three main endings (that each have at least 12 permutations) twice I can say I had a fun time for the price of the game.

That game while short does its best to make the time spent feel much longer than it is between the unique art style of both the world and its inhabitants, and the survival mechanics of the game which help add a needed sense of weight to the smaller choices. I had fun carefully deliberating on if I wanted to risk losing one resources for another I was in desperate need of. On repeat runs however this meter watching quickly begin to feel monotonous.

There are some good bits in this game, but for me, the tactical aspect totally kills it. It is so inbalanced, or rather in favor for AI that it is beyound laughable. Fights will accur as it is part of the game. Now, to keep it simple, you have a Katana, hit enemy who gets 12-20 hit points. He hits you and you suffer 24-42 damage. Even with light armor, makes no difference. Later in the game I had an awesome Armor of Honor (25 damage res), I get hit with a Mosin gun for 40-46 points. I use same gun, or even better M-16 on enemy who has no or light armor (6 damage res) and score 10-12 points. Time after time. BS! Also, remember that it will be almost impossible for you, even later in the game, to hit anything beyond 20-24 tiles, while AI will frequently score hits from 70-80 tiles away. Loads of BS in a bucket of sh-ite. NOT RECOMMENDED!

I originally played this and the original as Flash games, I even went so far as to download BlueMaxima’s Flashpoint almost specifically for this one, due to how good it was. The economic simulation, layered with a competent, if monotonous, combat system, as well as a fairly engaging story lent itself to a game that tied me up for absolute ages. I plan on playing this for an inordinately long time, and I already have!

I won’t bother with beginner tips, but keep in mind the game has a strong learning curve; I recommend playing “Story” mode if you’re just starting out for all the free goodies and volunteers. Sandbox puts you in a significantly more difficult starting area, and a generally poorer starting position, i.e. Much fewer free goods and starting facilities. Once you’ve gotten the hang of it, you’ll come to recognise it’s trade patterns and idiosyncracies, and really start to get a feel for the game.

I have reviewed this game as a positive overall because I like what I have played so far.

It is a bit buggy however, currently I have a black screen that will not resolve when I try to continue my game. Luckily, I have manually kept a save so I won’t lose my entire playthrough, but it is frustrating. Occasionally when I open the game, the map is pinned open and won’t minimise. My character has been stuck on a couple of staircases. I also feel like maps have had labels on since maps were a thing, so labelling even just the districts surely cannot destroy the immersion?

Real player with 18.3 hrs in game

This Game is criminally underrated!

It’s a beautiful blend of Strategy, Adventure, and even minor dungeon crawling!

Lets start with the Positives about the game.

Music? Atmospheric, unique to each district and definitely carries the tone of each faction and their respective beliefs.

Music is fantastic.

Graphics? At first one might not be used to the more obtuse (unusual compared to other games) graphics and renditions, but once you look past that, it really sells itself well. Additionally, if you’re familiar with Teslagrad and World to the West, The character design is a return to form and stays true to the world-building that Rain Games has done.
