This amazing game is not only nostalgic, but it is incredibly fun. You can play alone, you can play with friends, you can play online and local co-op. This game not only brings the nostalgic feeling of the 1980’s in a wonderful, funny and entertaining way, but it is also challenging and has many play styles, characters, and weapons to choose from.

Long story short, this game is an overpriced, junky flash game, at least at the time of this review.

The game has its humor and it’s clearly visible what it wants to be, but it completely falls on its face. I can give it credit for its humor and the nice art and all, but mechanically, this is a complete mess. I’ve been waiting until I was finished the campaign to write this review, and it was an honest pain. Bugs a-plenty (This isn’t Early Access, and is $12.99 as of this post), locked aiming to only cardinal and diagonal directions (I don’t care what your piss-poor reasoning behind having it be this way is, it sounds more like an excuse than an actual reason), glitchy as all hell UI (Ammo literally never showed correctly for me what my current magazine was, as well as a bunch of times where dialogue windows would cover the game), and just poor balance (Difficulty is easy in the first world, ramps pretty high in comparison for the second, levels off with an okay ramp-up for the third and fourth, and then just out of nowhere becomes absurd on the fifth). Most of the bosses just seem lazy, especially the Killionaire and Ghoul Squad ones. The champion enemies that drop health and ammo have a crazy-high health multiplier to the point that it takes several mags to destroy one if the wrong enemy happens to get it, and in the case of the last world, if the floating head enemies are a champion, they have health equal to that of a miniboss, and still never actually drop their equipment. Melee is a completely useless function for the most part, the character differences don’t really make a noticeable impact until you’re forced to change your playstyle because of the level’s enemies, guns don’t very well describe how they are in comparison to others, despite their being stat windows for each, each weapon requires you to essentially run around in circles and endlessly kill enemies to grind for the money to buy them, instead of just being accomplishment rewards, or having the prices be within check. I haven’t tried the multiplayer, but if it’s as bad as the singleplayer is with its glitches and problems, I dread to think about it. There’s so many issues for a game that’s supposed to be finished that it’d be laughable if it wasn’t so frustrating and disappointing trying to, in vain, have an enjoyable time with it.

Metal Heads

Metal Heads

I’ve been helping out with testing the game (the online multiplayer) for well over a year now and i have seen a lot of improvements with it so far and it has come a long way since Pax Aus 2019.

The game itself is great fun online (yes there are issues but it is early access and what early access game doesn’t have issues) and even better when playing locally with friends. There are plenty of mini-games to play as well as a bored game mode that allows you to place items on the map to hinder others or yourself if you aren’t careful. The game has a solo Dev and Andy Gillion working on the music for the game.

The game was for a year on my steam-wishlist, and now it’s released. Yeah, it is buggy … but what else do you expect for a Early Access game? The minigames are really funny, and the game has many potential to be the next big party game. So buy it and support the developer behind the game, so that he can fulfill his vision of the game.

Furthermore he is active on Discord, in contrast to another game in this genre on steam, where the devs are lost, lol.

Shattle

Shattle

It’s the year 1970 in Sweden, and the Cold War is upon us. None of the thousands of bomb shelters have been used, until now. You and 24 other players start in separate apartments as air-raid sirens go off. You don’t have much time so gather as many supplies and weapons wherever and however you can.

What gear can you find? What supplies can you craft? Who can you trust? Use Shattle’s in-game voice chat to make friends or enemies. You’ll need all your wits about you to survive three bombing raids and make it to safety.

20-minute rounds

No more hiding or camping. You don’t have time for that. Survive to the end in any way you can. You have to think strategically, but you have to do it fast.

Close Combat Survival

Battle your way through everything from dense forests and bunkers to bomb shelters and underground tunnels as you get up close and personal with other players. Be careful! You never know who’s hiding just around the corner.

Destructible Environments

As bombs fall, they take chunks of the environment with them, creating more dynamics and new spaces in forested areas and buildings. So every time you leave your shelter, prepare for all-new surroundings.

Extensive weapons and armour

Loot, craft or upgrade, there are many ways to equip yourself for the fight ahead. And watch the skies! The Swedish Forces are known to drop some rare guns and armour via air supplies.

Points-based scoring

This isn’t your typical battle royale where you want to be the last one standing. Everyone’s goal is to make it to safety, but how you do it is up to you. Whether you want to shoot your way through or be a tactically sound crafter, everything counts towards your final score.

Bird’s View

Death isn’t the end of your journey. Come back as a dove and be the ultimate spotter for your team.

BORIS THE ROCKET 🚀

BORIS THE ROCKET 🚀

A kinda hectic run-around-but-think game, nicely themed around quasi-Soviet missile intercept site. Be prepared to value every second of your time. Missions are around seven minutes each, so this is also a “just another bite” thing. I picture this in the evening, a mission or two every now and then. Then again, I love the setting too : )

This game is sort of Papers, Please.

During game you need to shoot down all incoming rockets. But task is not easy. You must properly configure every AA missile while trying to get enough resources to produce new missiles, or for upgrades. You alone in that base so must run on foot to every point of interest.

Actually I like games like Paper, please, so this game is my type of games, and I recommend it to buy. Its cheap enough.

Cheitha

Cheitha

I got Cheitha in Early Access and I think its concept is simple and engaging: you are trapped in a facility with portals spawning hordes of enemies. You can kick, shoot and dash to make your way through them and unlock areas where new weapons are available.

These weapons are very well designed and bring a lot of depth to the game, you’ll start thinking about firing and positioning strategies to maximize their lethality and compensate their drawbacks.

The devs (kudos to them), are doing a great work with updates bringing new features like powerups and match rewards, increasing variety and replayability.

Nice cheap game. Good for some small games when bored. Every update brings something new. Developer listens and responds.

Can get hard fast. Have to monitor surroundings and ammo.

This game may look like a cheap, simple game but it is so much fun to play. It is tactical and focused on positioning, precision, and speed, yet it is still a fun and casual game. There are many different tactics and strategies to learn. The TTK is lower than most BR games, which makes the gameplay more fast paced than an average BR. It takes the skills used in other similar shooters, but puts them to use in a whole new way. Something unique is that camping is an essential part of the game, but there are ways to counter it, which makes it a “campfest” without it being annoying. It does have a high price tag, but it is absolutely worth it if you are into BR games or tactical shooters. The first day was a success, and I am hopeful for the future of this game.

Now, Ill just be upfront and honest with yall; Yes, the game is currently 98% Bots [ on NA Servers ] as far Ive experienced in the past two days BUT that doesnt mean that you will be playing empty lobbies, the game does have bots to fill up a lobby for the lack of players so youll always have a full lobby! On that note, I do believe getting out some of the only negative things holding back the game ( for me atleast ) will be more beneficial than just acting like the game is completely perfect, because its not, as is no game that exists but this one has enough care and creativity put into it to keep me coming back and playing over other games~

Boring Man - Online Tactical Stickman Combat

Boring Man - Online Tactical Stickman Combat

I spent literally 1,175 hours on this game. It is so much fun despite it’s dying community, and I joined way after it started losing players. First thing I should say is that no matter how many new players come in and say it’s pay to win, hecc no it’s not. Premium gives you hats and other cool things while weapon skins are just weapon skins. The current version that is available is still in beta, and yet it is still extremely fun, with enough maps and weapons to last you hours upon hours of fun. Every weapon you unlock will have a different use in terms of how you play, but there are no restrictions, it’s however you choose to use them. And again, to those who take a look at one or two of the many weapons in this game and think “huh, this looks cheap” or “hey this’ll get me a lot of easy kills”, none of it will be that way (with the exception of the grenade launcher). All of the weapons have their own positives and negatives, and for an indie game I’d say it’s pretty freaking balanced, if you’re dying too much it’s because you’re new. It is in fact possible to be good at this game, and I’ve met some really really good players along the way. This game is one of the only online games I ever enjoyed, it’s honestly just so good. Another thing I’ll say is that a lot of people I know hate its community for its toxicity, but the thing is most of them are nice when you get to know them. I really do suggest you to play this game if you haven’t already, if toxicity is a problem for you then just mute the chat with F5, this game is too fun to pass by.

Mmmn~

This game…. Ooof, what should I say? I’ve played this game a loooot and there’s so many things I’m still finding about it. I mean, yeah, it’s a free game and there’s no set story line or anything to complete but something about this game keeps me still playing it.

I find the combat to be relatively simple but at the same time, it can be much more complex when you take it a step further. It’s a standard 2D platformer shooting game involving many different weapons that could be utilized to kill your foes. However, that isn’t all. Some weapons are used to get around easier, where if you know proper tricks and practice enough, you can essentially fly across from one side of the map to the other, sneaking past enemies.
