Shieldwall

Shieldwall

Hello Nezon.

I really enjoy Shieldwall, And here are my ideas on some new things you could add:

2 new factions including Mesopotamia and Byzantium

2 new maps Thermopylae and The Coliseum like in Formata

The Archer unit like in Formata

The Cavalry unit ( the player could buy a horse themselves and this unit would be a lot of gold maybe 500 gold)

Unit Customization like in Formata

Naval Battles Where you could buy ships like in Formata

Siege Weapons such as Battering rams and Trebuchet

Mobile siege weapons (every siege unit would take more of the popularity for example if i have 20 men and i buy a siege weapon that would take up the other 5 population slots)

I am having a blast playing this game. It’s a great casual strategy game that has a lot of replay-ability. This game is one of those “easy to pick up, hard to master” games that I get a ton of enjoyment from.

Let’s talk about what the game does well: It’s simple, the controls are smooth, and it has great core mechanics that I’m interested in seeing how they develop.

How can it improve?

Faction Variation: I’d like to see different stats/buffs for the different “commanders” of the factions. Maybe 5% increase to missile damage, 3% reduction of unit cost, etc.

Ultimate General: Civil War

Ultimate General: Civil War

Summary: Game consists of charging artillery batteries in a frantic rush to beat a timer, and in the next battle charging those same magically reanimated artillery batteries.

+Maps look nice

+It’s a decent dicking around game if you can overlook/tolerate the flaws, and it’s better than it’s predecessor so hopefully the successor to this one will be worth buying

+Can /slightly/ customize units and modify your army (for the most part, purely useless shit like swapping out commanders who all give the same perks, and renaming brigades, but not your divisions or corps because reasons)

Having played this game in detail, I have give an honest opinion. First off, good game over all. For me it was highly addictive and gave me a great sense of nostalgia playing Sid Meier’s: Gettysburg and Antietam and General Lee: Civil War 1 and 2. This game seems to be a hybrid of the two, the real time movement and engagement of troops on the battlefield of the former coupled with the stats and economics of the latter. In fact, some of the weapons mentioned in this game, the Farmers and re-bored Farmers muskets (perhaps 1812 Springfields before and after conversion from flintlocks) brought me back to my General Lee: Civil War days.

Strategy & Tactics: Wargame Collection

Strategy & Tactics: Wargame Collection

To start off I wanna say this isn’t a game of high quality. In fact, I found one of the games in this collection as a mobile game for my phone first (the WW2 Sandbox one) and it was pretty fun, but had all the ads and in-app-purchases that you see with mobile games. I definitely suggest that as a mobile game because it was free and pretty in-depth compared to most strategy games on mobile. On computer, meh. It was incredibly cheap, and even cheaper on sale, which was the main reason I bothered getting it. The deal was pretty good, because this is a 3-pack of games. They all play basically the same, so once you learn one, you learn all of them. As far as strategy games go, it’s simple compared to other games like it, and the mechanics become second nature within half an hour to an hour. The tutorials are pretty trashy, and don’t cover anything more complicated than basic movement and attacking, which means it’s up to you to really explore how combat and movement work. The AI is actually pretty good, but can be predicted and outsmarted with some practice. So why am I recommending this? This may not be a great game, but it’s cheap and simple. If you’re new to strategy games, or just enjoy casually playing them and don’t like diving heavily into grand-strategy games, this is a good choice for you. There’s also a mobile version, which I suggest for anyone. If you really like the complicated and in-depth mechanics that you find in games like Hearts of Iron and Victoria 2, though, stay away from this game on PC. There’s quite a bit of content, but you’ll get bored pretty fast, and personally I would take Hearts of Iron IV any day over these 3 games.

Ok, here’s my take on the game. I’m used to playing Axis and Allies, both the Milton Bradley board games as well as the old Nova Games, which was the best…I also play the triplea version, which is excellent. This game is much more in line with the Milton Bradley games. A relatively simple game, simple mechanics. That being said, there are some very nice features that I enjoy. You can plot out moves in a step by step fashion. Moving infantry to take the first territory, then “relocating” mech units into the newly taken territory, and then launching an attack with them into the next. You are not required to to plan out every move for all your troops, they can be executed one at a time. This is definately a “beer and pretzels” kind of game.

Men of War: Vietnam

Men of War: Vietnam

After playing this game for a good amount of time and pursuing to beat it on Hard, I’ve noticed this game isn’t the failure that most people deem it to be. In order to play this game, there must be a basic understanding of proper guerilla warfare, and knowing this is VERY useful. This game is not for everyone however. This game is a test of skill for those who are familiar with the Men of War series and its mechanics.

A few thoughts after in-depth play (Post Scriptum Edition):

First of all, if you can earn every achievement without cheating, kudos to you. It is not an easy task to earn all of these achievements, because the final US Mission can be quite intimidating on Hard difficulty.

! Expect to be screaming, “OH MY GOD IT’S LIKE THE FALL OF SAIGON BUT WORSE!” at the end.

Hell yes best game next to men of war 1 assault squad and men of war 2 assault squad in my personal opinion because of the story and how it feels so good it feels right like you have special operations that are so hard and tactical and you have the iconic huge battles And I love it it is awesome and so difficult to beat such as in any men of war game you get shot in the chest you are probably going to die on easy difficulty and it makes it so satisfying after so much planning and hard work to finally solve a huge issue you have I have played 39 or so hours since this review I am posting and I am only on the first big battle mission it is an amazingly good game I recommend it to anyone who loves realism and loves the men of war franchise I haven’t played all the games just men of war assault squad 1 and 2 and call to arms and ostfront and faces of war There are a few more I want to buy as well I love this franchise it is just something I love you got so many advantages and disadvantages but there is always a way through I challenge myself by playing on easy But I make sure no one in my squad dies infantry or special forces I have never had a casualty on the US Army side except the first mission I didn’t plan no deaths till mission 2. my grandpa was in the MAC V SOG In Vietnam after being selected out of the USMC and he told me stories and things about the war when he was in as a soldier from 1956 to 1973 and about his time as a POW and the game captures the Image perfectly special operators pushing in and being such as how my dad was a Marine raider then green beret it is like that and it has uniforms and weapons exactly to the time period of 68 of course there are exceptions but they got the south Vietnam special forces and they got standard soldiers I haven’t seen standard Southern troops but I have seen NVA and Russian and Northern troops native to Vietnam they make it so real and so good and enjoyable to play I love it personally.

Alright let me get this straight just because i have 700+ hours on this game doesnt mean that its the best. Obviously this game has some features and inequalities that i would like to tell people about. Now i wouldn’t consider myself a professional jusut yet but it has some bugs that i think are either bugs or baad game design. I like to structure all of my reviews based off of Price to gameplay so here are the 10 things that i will review to give the game a simple 1/10 score.

Well for starters this game is very simplistic which i like in a game + 1

I have followed BoE since it first appeared on Greenlight, and have been eager to get my hands on a copy. Well, my eagerness has not been dulled since purchasing and playing this early access ww1 game.

The gameplay is the typical MoW style, with objectives to be completed in order to progress. The models and overall graphics are well suited to the era - and should look quite amazing with the rtm version. No performance issues running on a Windows 8.1 laptop (..mine has 4GBRAM /500GB HDD/Intel HD &Radeon 3670m 2GB (Hybrid) graphics with the settings all maxxed out).

Update: the British Empire so far is the best campaign, until the other DLC get reworked try the British Empire

This game is very interesting but, there is a lot wrong with it and it needs some of these issues fixed before it becomes fair and fun. I will say right now that you should not buy this game until it gets fixed. And I also want to add, I don’t want to get a refund for this game, I want it to be improved in the areas that it needs it; I want it to work in order to be fun and fair when you play. In this list of complaints I will not list the DLC as I personally don’t have a problem with it, and in my personal experience with the DLC it enriches and extends the single player which is something that I like, I didn’t buy this game for multiplayer … but I would like to see something for American campaign in the future …

Codename: Panzers, Phase One

This is an old but fun game, it’s the first WW2 RTS that I’ve ever played where you start of the beginning of the war (1/09/1939) and playing as the German side, it is also good that you have the different factions to play as and of course you can choose which order you play them in, but I think playing them in the order presented (1, 2, 3) is best. While this game is fun there are some flaws.

First the Pros

You can capture enemy vehicles and use them on their former masters

Flamethrower troops are great enmasse for heating up tanks till the enemy crew are forced to bail out and you can use your own tank crew to capture and use that vehicle (great if its a better tank than you have).

Hey! If you enjoy my reviews, follow my curator page here! I am an independent Curator providing reviews and insights to the games that need the spotlight! Thank you! :)

Dog Duty is an ok game. It captures the spirit of an old school real time tactical squad combat game.

You control a squad made up of 3 mercenaries, with each mercenary having one special ability. You can change their equipped gun and you have available consumable items such as molotovs to deal damage over a large area and syringes to immediately restore health.

Your goal is to conquer the three bosses in each zone and head on to defeat the final boss.

The tactical part of the combat is enjoyable enough with some minor gripes. It is pretty satisfying clearing the level of all enemies. There are some drawbacks though that take away from the experience though. The abilities do seem to be bugged in that sometimes they do not trigger for all of your allies. For example, one character has an ability that is supposed to heal your entire team. Sometimes it does not heal your entire team and this can lead to frustrating situations where your team wipes. The game does not control that well at times when units overlap and it becomes hard to select the desired target and action.

Grand Tactician: The Civil War (1861-1865)

Grand Tactician: The Civil War (1861-1865)

I like this game quite a lot. Honestly the Civil War games are exceptionally hard to create due to the complexity required for the multiple aspects involved. Prior to this there’s been some solid battle based games but they follow a simplified path to victory or failure, there’s no campaign.

Here there’s both a battlefield and campaign strategy, you couldn’t implement your tactical goals even on the very best games prior to which probably was Civil War Generals 2 back in the 90’s.

The battlefield gets modified by simple modifiers like entrenchments and fortifications as well as fatigue and range of weapons, as prior to games. The kicker is they now can do days and nights of movements not seen in Sid Meiers and its newest remake.

Real player with 424.6 hrs in game

Immersive with a decent naval model, unlike Forge of Freedom which falls flat in terms of Naval modelling. The game could use more detail in naval combat, especially riverine Naval/Land combat in restricted navigation areas like rivers and coastal areas. River Combat, coastal combat and ocean combat are all very different and require different mechanics. Naval actions need more detail, period, to match the detail in land action. For example, the presence of a fleet seems to have no effect on the ability of an opposing force to use nearby bridges and fords. Another would be using a circular zone of blockade (fine for ocean) for a riverine fleet. The zone in this cast should obviously be linear to match the shape of the river. A coastal blockade would be a rectangle matching the shape of the coast. All in all, much promise here.
