Dungeon Defenders II

Dungeon Defenders II

I tried. I really, really tried.

Ever since I bought this game in 2014, I continued to throw my time and genuine effort at it, hoping to get at the very least a decent sequel to DD1. I even ignored the very clear warning sign that was the release of DD Eternity (DD1 was abandoned to hackers, then repacked and…sold again under a new name, wham, bam, profit). Today, with the game about ready to leave yet another developement stage, instead of having hope and tons of fun playing the game, I am disgusted and bitterly dissapointed.

Don’t bother with Dungeon Defenders 2 or Trendy Entertainment. Their incessant greed has instilled levels of disgust in me that I scarcely could previously fathom.

For a bit of background, allow me to preface this by telling you that I hold no nostalgia for the original Dungeon Defenders. This is a combination of their lack of security leading to rampant hackers and my disdain for the original character styles. I played this game a bit when it first came out, and dropped in now and again to see how it was doing. My tenure here became permanent with the Terraria crossover content, and I’ve remained fairly steady to the game since. I’ve done some Mastery, climbed up Onslaught, and dabbled in Ancient Power Resets. I’ve seen a lot of what there is to see, and let me tell you, originally, the allure was the cartoony, bright graphics and enjoyable combat. However, beneath this veneer of vibrant paint lies a decrepit, hollow experience designed to consume your wallet.

At its current state I can’t recommend. I’ve re-downloaded when new updates were made, but sadly the game does not feel like BZ. The controls are too sophisticated (couldn’t implement the original’s?), unit AI needs a huge improvement, and many bugs just build on top of it all. Seriously though, commanding your constructor to build a guntower shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. Bad pathfinding and controls plague a game where basic game mechanics should be a priority. Besides, 6+ years and it’s still in early access? Sorry, but donating to them was a mistake.

As others have said, this game unfortunately seems to have grinded to a halt since 2018? Developers obviously lost interest. It’s a buggy mess that is COMPLETELY unplayable at this stage; controls are wacky and nothing seems to work correctly. Don’t buy it.

I think everyone was hoping something great would come of this spiritual successor… it’s a shame. Oh well, Battlezone 98 Redux and Battlezone: Combat Commander are on Steam now at least.

EDIT in response to developer:

I fully understand that game development is very difficult, especially when starting out or with only a small team, and as such, many projects take years to develop.

Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa

Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa

It’s sort of a medium-heavy version of Gary Grigsby’s War in the East, some of the more arcane details tracked in WitE are extrapolated here. But not many, the logistics system is still very realistic in that if you don’t pay more attention to it than about anything else, your army groups are going to grind to a halt.

It also has considerably more internal political realism that WitE, you have relationships with all the generals in OKH/OKW and your theater commanders and of course Hitler, and how good or bad those relationships are can significantly alter gameplay. There are even small story lines, like your Chief of Staff is being a jerk and pissing off all the theater commanders, but he’s von Brauchitsch’s (your CO) nephew and you have to figure out what to do with him.

I am a grand strategy junkie. I love world military history and am a master of Hoi 1,2 &3. I also have played ck2, panzer corps and other games in the multitudes of genres to death. I have stayed away from these Decisive Campaigns because of what I perceived as a limited scope. I said to myself, I don’t want to just fight to paris or just to fight the eastern front then have the game be over. This kept me away for years from these types of games and damn I’ve been cheating myself.

This game is the perfect mix of strategy, tactical combat and role playing. It is a an excellent addition to any fan of military history, strategy, tactics or lovers of the turn based game. What is so very unique is the multitude of decisions you get to make as the overall commander of operation Barbarosa. I can not stress enough the journey you get to make as both officers above and below you haggle, beg, demand and interfere with how you execute the war. While these games have been around awhile, they are relatively new to steam and this is absolutely a fresh take on ww2 that I’d like to see more of……what this game does absolutely better then another other is put you in the generals chair.

Giants

Ive played this game for now 90hrs+ its not been too bad so far, some will enjoy it others will not. This game seems to be a spin off or a remake of the Gamevil & Singta colaboration of 2017. Giants War. Same characters same BGM. same play style, you might even say its a re-release.

Not a lot of active players in this game. i suspect the guys who maxed out are the devs playing the game. its heavily pay to win. or speed to the end of the content. im FTP myself and on zone 8. But u get kinda restricted with a limited amount of champions to send off on mission and carry on with the content.

There is a daily stamina cap that you can refill with money, but this is a minor issue.

After many hours i didn’t find a single rare hero inside free chests, and i don’t think it’s possible. You can transform your common heroes in better random heroes for golds, or purchase them with currency you earn for free by playing, but the cost is high and you need the above said currency to upgrade your common heroes, or at some point you can’t really win against monsters that are higher than you. About this… i’d like to know where is the strategy, where is the timing, if you can’t win by interrupting monster skills. Everything seems more based on heroes level and rarity than your skill. It’s enough already if i say that bosses oneshot all my units with a single normal attack.

Greed

Greed

Greed — is the key to success.

Greed is an asymmetrical multiplayer free-to-play experience. One of the players assumes the role of the Dungeon Master trying to stage a rebellion against the god of Greed. The three other players do their best to undermine him by capturing his treasure chambers. Will the Adventurers fulfill their contract with the greedy god, or will the Dungeon Master succeed in his efforts to overthrow his employer? The outcome is in your hands.

The Dungeon Master controls its domain through an RTS-style interface with an ability of direct third person control over his troops.

The Adventurers operate in a Third Person Action mode, relying on combat prowess and teamwork to achieve supremacy.

Both sides strive to take control over the dungeon by capturing as many rooms as possible or by destroying the enemy base.

Key features

  • Asymmetrical gameplay. — An RTS/Action showdown packed in a single game!

  • Griefing is fine! — You love to ruin someone else’s game, don’t you? Greed provides many means of messing up with the others! But remember: your victims enjoy the same opportunities…

  • Are you greedy as well? — Fear not, for the game is free to play! Call your friends and join the quest for wealth at the price of $0.00!

SpellForce 3: Versus Edition

SpellForce 3: Versus Edition

The idea of the Spellforce 3: Versus Edition is to give people the opportunity to try out the game, its mechanics and check out the in-game design, before spending money for either the campaigns or the PvP package.

If you don’t own any of the games, you will be randomly assigned one of the races from the Spellforce 3: Burning Blood base game: Elves, Humans or Orcs. Whether you like how the devs handled this or not, depends on you, but given the fact that it is a free version and the purpose it serves, it is totally fine in my opinion.

Hello, I’ve seen a lot of conflicts between players and developers in discord channels, the player pool is extremely low but anyway the chat conflicts and random bans of people who are not “devs friends” makes the 90% of time in conflicts all the time.

How is that possible in a very small comunnity?

Game crashes, bugs, exploits, extremely unbalanced races problems?

A lot of bugs and crashes have been notified for months and never have been an answer or fix, the only answer is “this is a small company, so our resources are limited”.
